ShortBus
Headed to a level two in two weeks and I'm worried it's not legal. From my understanding of reading the rules I think it's legal. Just checking as I don't won't to go home after driving all that way. Grip had not been reduced or had the shape of the frame cut. All factory lines are there but it's been stippled, which appears to be the appropriate areas. And I smoothed out inside the mag well. Please tell me this is legal
fishsticks
Relevant verbiage is in appendix D4. To my eye (and I'm sure someone will be along shortly to disagree or dispute), it appears you comply with 21.4, 22.2 and 22.4.
ShortBus
Kind of what I thought. The magwell opening is what I'm really worried about. The stippling is pretty cut and dry but the magwell is pretty vague..
pjb45
Did you modify the mag well?
ShortBus
Yes. Only the inside, and nothing is visible with a magazine inserted. I added a slight bevel instead of it coming to a sharp 90*.
ShortBus
The outside is the same exact shape, and this is a small grip so it may look a little weird, but like I said the only places were material was removed was INSIDE the grip. acpie360
The magwell side-to-side flaring is what you should worry about. This old thread (post #34) may help. Edited February 29, 2016 by acpie360
Sarge
AND, you wouldn't get sent home. You would be bumped to Open
ShortBus
It seems there has not been a rule clarification on the 1/4" stuff. I guess I'm just gonna go with it and keep a spare grip in the bag.
BillGarlandJr
I think you're good. The magwell on your grip looks a lot like the one I use, which was prepared by Alma Cole. What you have on your grip is beveling, not flaring. Flaring would change the external dimensions/appearance of your grip.
ShortBus
Thank you for the reply. I'm gonna go with that! Might buy some extensions in case of an open switch lol Edited February 29, 2016 by Luke205
prestonj12
Why open? Wouldn't you just be moved over to Limited for any Production violation? And in my estimation, you're Production legal. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
frag316
If your equipment doesn't meet the restrictions of what you declared, you're automatically bumped to the least restrictive division in the sport--Open. Appendix D4, Item 21--If the shooter cannot identify an authorizing rules-clause or published interpretation, the RM shall rule that the modification is PROHIBITED for Production use and shall move the shooter to Open Division. (Emphasis in the original.) And if you declare Production and shoot a single round, THEN find out your equipment is not-compliant, you will be bumped, regardless of having a spare grip. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Depends. If you start the match and get busted you get moved to open. If you show up and think you are not division compliant you can ask the RM. if he agrees you could change to Limited at registration. You can't get bumped to anything but open.
