ParaLarry
Did you mean sjc? http://stores.sjcguns.com/sjc-full-size-m-p-frame-weight/ Seems a little extreme. Sent from my reloading bench using Tapatalk
robertfrade
Actually yes, I did mean the SJC frame weight. Anyone have a review or a pic on an m&p?
MilkMyDuds
Won't be legal for USPSA production because the rule only allows 2 oz on top of the factory weight. Won't be legal for IDPA SSP either as it's external mod. I guess you can do this in Limited and ESP, but I am not sure.
robertfrade
Ive been wanting to get into limited. I currently shoot an m&p 9 pro. Not wanting to be left in the dust by the heavy all metal $$$ guns, im wanting to look into all add ons to make the m&p pro .40 more competitive in limited. wgj3
Just answer the OP's actual question if have experience. He didn't ask to be schooled on the legality or merit of adding the frame weight or berated for asking. He wants to know: #1 if anyone has done it And #2 did it work for you? wolffy1876
I do have one on my pro .40. Also mounted a go gun *thumb rest [generic]* to it. I like it. Adds a lot of weight and the *thumb rest [generic]* works great.
wolffy1876
And it looks just like the glock version. Mounts to the front rail with a metal bar that goes in between the grooves then the weight slides ove the rail and is screwed to the bar.
robertfrade
wolffy1876 Would you be so nice as to upload a pic of your setup.also what holster are you using for it? Thanks!
wolffy1876
CR Speed WSM 2. And I will get a pic shortly.
dogtired
In testing the concept I used a socket and a 1" scope ring, hung it on the front of my gun and the concept of weighting the pistol like the frame weight does, works well. I have not purchased a frame weight yet but it is on the long list of things I am going to buy.
robertfrade
Dogtired: That is a very clever idea thanks for sharing. I will try that tomorrow. I have heard that there is a thumb rest for it. However the pics on the sjc website dont show it. Is the block supposed to me tapped and drilled to add the thumb rest? wolffy1876
It is tapped. Not sure what hole pattern it matches but it wasn't the Go Gun that I put on.

robertfrade
Wolffy1876: I got your pic, thanks. The gun looks real good. So, looks like I would need a new holster to use the frame weight. I cant buy a 200 holster and the frame weight all in one go. I would first get the holster. Since uspsa allows the frame weight for limited would a weapon light be legal in place of the frame weight until I can spend the 90 for the weight? caspian guy
so... I believe I have seen at least one light with the light guts removed and filled with lead used. I think the ruling was something along the lines of lights aren't allowed but if you remove the ability for it to act as a light it can be a frame weight. bengreenwell
I would still love to see a picture of the frame weight I'm thinking about getting one for my 3 gun m&p.

bengreenwell
Im just wondering how far the weight sticks out on the sides of the pistol. Trying to decide how to make a holster with it on the gun.

Lior
Yes. Bloody good product on the M&P. Makes tracking the front sight a tad easier for quick shot recovery. I haven't gotten round to loctiteing the screws yet, which is necessary because otherwise they get undone every couple of dozen rounds in matches. As this is a carry piece too I'm in no hurry to do so. With a weight installed as shown, the gun fits a stock CR Speed holster. The only caveat is that you use the recoil spring channel instead of the barrel to engage the holster's muzzle stabilizer.Took third place in an IPSC Standard Division match using one.
