Ontarget
I see a lot of people using drop and offset holsters at 3 gun competions. Just wondering what is the advantage of using this style of holster? Thanks.
GrumpyOne
It all depends on what you are used to. Take someone used to using a stingray holster and they see no advantage to the DOH. If there is any advantage, it is a perceived advantage of the shooters mind. If they think their draw is quicker with a DOH, then it will be. That being said, I run a DOH in Production. LilBunniFuFu
I have really long arms. When I shoot SS i have to bend my elbow quite a bit to reach the gun. So I run a DOH whenever possible.
gng4life
For 3G, it seem more important due to the equipment on the belt. There is less interference with other items on the belt as you bend, run, crouch, etc. I know quite a few who even run a leg holster just to get the pistol/holster lower for equipment reasons. Of course, it's nice to have the pistol closer to your hand, less distance traveled.
Jadeslade
Frozen shoulder or history of injury to shoulder -DOH helps a lot.
Philip Dedmon
I have used DOH in the pass but I have got away for them.
Sarge
Keeps the elbow out of the armpit!
Neomet
I've gone back and forth with both. Whenever I switch I think the new way is better, even if it is actually the old way. This game is kinda funny like that.
nikelax73
Keeps the elbow out of the armpit! This. Going from practicing with a doh then practicing drawing from iwb for ccw, i get aggravated with the iwb lol
surfr716
Ive got longish arms and a shorter torso, so it makes going from surrender position to hand in the gripping position a lot more natural. Less elbow in armpit action with the doh, just my opinion
