  1. Basic parts, tools/punches, batteries, mag loader, extra glasses and hearing protection, sunscreen, some granola bars, gloves, an ultralight rain jacket, and a cleaning kit with a bottle of gun butter. Along with the obvious ammo, mags, etc.
  2. Mounted a vortex viper 6moa on my m&p core and couldn't be happier. No fishing for the dot whatsoever, just throw it up the same as you would if you were shooting through the irons and the dots there every time. Having shot dots that sit higher and going through dry fire practise every time i really appreciate the lack of learning curve.
  3. I've got the CR speed mag pouches and absolutely love them. I had bladetech before them so I don't have a ton to go off but I'm happy and don't intend to change
  4. 300 yards with my m&p 9mm on a 3/4 sized ipsc silhouette. Took a few rounds to figure the hold over but after that hit it about 2/3 of the time
  5. Im thinking that will be the route I take with mine as well, especially since volquartsen seems to be the only game in town as far as a better trigger goes. what do you think of the victory trigger? im debating just ordering it and the volquartsen trigger kit all at once or trying the stock trigger shoe with the lighter pull and seeing if its worth swapping out after. still on the fence as far as optics go for it as well, I know I want something up there just haven't decided what yet.
  6. I just bought a mk 4 22/45 tactical to run in steel challenge. Its a little heavier than the lite, but a lot cheaper, at least where I live. It was quite a bit lighter than the competition though even though the upper is the same just a slightly shorter barrel. Still debating on optics for it. I know I want to run it in open division so it'll get a compensator and some sort of red dot or reflex right I'm just not sure which yet.
  7. I've been wanting to try my hand at open division so I decided to get a couple 170mm extensions for my m&p core. Seems like a relatively inexpensive way to try it out, especially since I already have the pistol for use in limited and production. I would have liked to have gone with TTI extensions for the job but unfortunately they don't make a 170mm extension so my options seem to be either Springer or Taylor. I don't really like the design of the Taylor but they seem to have a solid reputation and I can't seem to find any reviews good or bad of the Springer extensions. Has anyone tried them out on this forum or know anyone that has and is willing to share some insight as to their quality?
  8. Dang. I've been waiting for this to come out for a while but all vortex would tell me was spring... just ordered a 6 moa venom on friday
  9. I'm a big fan of the doh on a tech lock. Haven't tried the boss hanger but I hear nothing but good things, just haven't felt the need to change from the doh as it works for me.
  10. Does anyone have any real expirience with these, they look solid and at half the price of TTI or Taylor they seem like they'd be a good deal if they work well, they're arundel the price of the arredondos. Do you need an extended spring to make them work right ? I ask because they don't sell a spring separately on their website, also will they work with magwells? I searched for reviews but haven't seen anything except customers reviews from the makers website which I'm always a bit skeptical of. Any info would be awesome
  11. Ive got longish arms and a shorter torso, so it makes going from surrender position to hand in the gripping position a lot more natural. Less elbow in armpit action with the doh, just my opinion
  12. Ive done red for my front and green rears, mostly because that's the way the sights came, it works for me
  13. Highly recommend the rock islands. Easily the best base platform I've come across. With a little work they shine and with a base price for a used one around 450 they won't break the bank either. Most of the issues to work out with them are just polishing the internals, trigger engagement surfaces, feed ramps, etc. I absolutely love mine, wouldn't trade it for any other make.
  14. I like the hook idea. Maybe I'll put a hook on the safe to hang it up away from all the dog hair. I've got a pair of hunting dogs that shed like crazy, I'd like to avoid picking it out of the hook part of the velcro
  15. Simple question, I recently got a competition holster and I was wondering how do you store it when you're not wearing it. I got it so I could store my gear on my belt and keep everything on the same place all the time but with my holsters nd mag pouches on it I can't fit it into my range bag anymore. I was wondering how do you keep the outer belt from collecting debris and hair etc. ? I have it on top of my safe at the moment but what's a better way?
  16. I just got a bladetech inside outside belt. i haven't tried it in competition yet but its really stiff and doing dry fire practice it just doesn't move at all. May not be a cr speed or a daa but it was what was available at my LGS and it fit well while not costing too much. I think it definitely exceeds my experience level and makes my life a lot easier going to and from the range, and hopefully competition. Im excited to finally have a decent competition belt now
  17. Dang, I was hoping it would be a simpler operation. Guess I'll have to buy a 40 if I want to play in the major game. Oh shucks thanks for all the responses guys
  18. I bought an m&p 9 not long ago, and I've been slowly turning it into a limited gun for shooting local uspsa matches. The local matches don't have and requirements for power factor at any level but I've noticed that actual matches require 40 cal or higher to make major. If I wanted to shoot 40 out of my current slide could I have the end opened up to fit the 40s barrels OD and then just change mags? It seems most of the other parts interchange across the 9,40,357 sig sized frame and I've been thinking of getting a storm lake barrel for my gun anyhow. Would I be better served buying a 40 cal barrel and a handful of mags then opening the slide, or would that not really be possible?
  19. I love mine, haven't used it too much in matches, but it's fast, retains pretty well and it wasn't overly expensive. I'm using mine for an m&p that I'm building up for limited. Plus the really nice thing about it is I can pull 3 pins and drip my revolution holster on the base and go shoot production if I want to. Nothing but good things to say about blade tech holsters so far, though admittedly I've never used a full open gun holster like a safariland or cr...
  20. I think the difference between a rifle and a a pistol in terms of barrel harmonics is length. A 20 inch rifle barrel whips far less than a 28 inch barrel and Is therfore less susceptible to the effects of pressure points making the movement less repeatable and changing POI. Now go to a 4 inch pistol barrel and whip is pretty well gone. Not saying it doesn't have an effect but at the ranges one generally shoots a pistol I can't imagine the effect being overly dramatic.
