Wesquire
A friend mentioned something that was used on industrial stairs that I could use as a clear alternative? Anyone know what this is?

It'll make you bleed. I had knock off the sharpness by rubbing it against a brick wall.

RangerTrace
Don't know about stairs, but i seem to recall the same info for ladders......seriously though, all you need is skateboard tape, a heat gun and slow drying super glue.

jacala
I buy black, green and clear non slip tape for my Glock from convertape.com in the UK. Great selection and reasonable prices. Can be removed, clean grip/frame area and then replaced with new tape.

I have been using rock polish grit from Harbor Freight but the bags are very small and I would love a black option. Can you post pictures?
CZinSC
OP is asking about tape....go to Lowes. Look for Shurtape, i think its near the paint aisle. One roll will last a lifetime: http://www.lowes.com/pd_256841-56131-124660_0__ i used it and loved it. Until i found out about silicon carbide. Spread some JB Weld on the grips, then pour the silicon carbide over the JB weld. set aside to dry. if you buy the 45-60 grit, it will be rough as hell for a few months then wear in nicely. i would redo the grips once a year. silicon carbide: http://www.therockshed.com/grit1.html

Adam B
you apply the epoxy where you want the media to go, I cant find any pics but I did my grips and it covered them very well and they held up way better than skate tape

domino329
I use the stair grip tape. It works great. There are 2 kinds an indoor and an outdoor. Outdoor is more aggressive. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
jcc7x7
Did the Lowes's thing since it was near the house and could use it on the deck steps also!!! Nice and flexible for working corners and rounded areas if you want and a lot of material for 10 bucks
