Radical Islam is the problem and we're too politically correct in the west to call it what it is. Not to mention our gubment's foreign policy over the last 50 years has been completely wrong in the middle east. Those tribal people have no interest in democracy. They are loyal to their tribe. If we didn't take out Saddam in Iraq, Ghadiffi (sp?) in Libya and Mubarek in Egypt, ISIS wouldn't exist as a military terrorist force. But, our "leaders" think they know best. WRONG again!! bountyhunter Posted September 2, 2014 Share Posted September 2, 2014 (edited) I wish there was a way to take them out. It's a regional problem caused by weak governments who practice appeasement. We spent ten years in Afghanistan trying to eradicate the Taliban (another extremist Islamic occupation force) and they are still there and still in control. If there is a solution, I haven't seen it. A massive military response just puts their heads down for a while, but we can't occupy their country forever. Governments always try to fight the last war over again: we are conditioned to think we can conquer a country and win a war, but Islamic extremism is not associated with a specific country. We didn't help things much by setting up brutal puppet dictators like the Shah of Iran to secure oil flow.
