Steve RA
What have your accuracy results been with 748 ??? Interested in 53gr, 55gr and 60gr primarily.
spd522
I have been using 748 with Hornady 55 gr fmjbt and getting sub moa out of a lightened 18" DPMS SASS barrel. 1/8 twist. 26.2 gr I think. I bought a bunch of CFE223 to use but the 748/Hornady combo works so well I have been using it instead. Plus I can still find 748. Craig
Steve RA
Thanks, I've been using H335, but, ran out and the LGS had some 748 and thought I'd try it.
KY1911
Same here - been using BLC2 and 322. Need a good recipe for 55grain FMJ-BT cannelure using 748. Edited April 29, 2014 by KY1911
outerlimits
26.8 gets me 2,911 fps using 55 gr hornady FMJ out of an 18" JP.
Steve RA
After looking at a number of sites, I'm starting with 26 gr with 53 gr V-Max and 55gr Hornady sp w/cannelure. Using KVB-223 primer and LC brass.
Nickoli
Interesting, im running 25.7, getting around 2850 with Hornady 55 FMJs and sub MOA out of my 18" WOA. I have used them out to 400 with good results but normally use my 77s past 200. I know mine don't move fast, but with my MTAC, 200 zero with my 77s yeilds a 50 zero with the 55s and the BDC is close for both. That is the only reason I have not touched it yet. I will add that all of my load work ups I did this winter. 748 is a temp sensitive so my chrono results might increase once the weather gets up to 80 or so. Most of the loads I tested, it was 30º for a high, average i would say was 20 or so.
trodrig
Just worked up a load with WIN748 and Hornady 55gr FMJ BT yesterday. I.) 25.5gr WIN748: High: 2976 Low: 2936 Avg: 2958 ES: 40 SD: 18 II.) 26.0gr WIN748: High: 3086 Low: 3051 Avg: 3062 ES: 35 SD: 13 I tried 25.0gr and 26.4gr (Hornady manual max) but I didn't like the ES of either of those two loads. The two above were the best ones. 5 shot group for both loads was less than 1 MOA with the 25.5gr load just a little bit tighter. Thomas

trodrig
I loaded to 2.210" OAL. However, I think anywhere in the middle of the canalure would be fine. Hornady manual calls for 2.200" which completely covered the canalure in my case so I went just a bit longer. I forgot to add in my original post that the rifle is an 18" JP CTR-02. Steve RA
I load the 55 Hornady SPs so the entire cannelure is just out of the case mouth. Think that is about 2.22 which is the longest I can load in the mags I use.

dbletap_ed
I just loaded 5 loads with 69 SMK's and hope to test this weekend if the wind is down. BTW my first attempts are with CCI BR4 primers at 2.250 OAL and 24.2, 24.4, 24.6, 24.8 & 25.0. Will let you know how it goes.

Nickoli
What mags are you using to be able to load to 2.250 ??? I load my 77s to 2.255-2.260 and they just fit in my pmags. Never had an issue with them holding up inside or feeding.

ShooterSteve
I know you are talking about 748 and it's a good powder that flows well through a Dillon, but I'm shooting 24gr of varget behind a 75 hornady loaded to mag length, and just shot a 4 shot group at 500 yds that went 2.25". I am very happy with that load. This is with a jp 18" barrel and lower with a vltor upper, bushnell 24x g2 scope. I'm getting ready for woodys match this Saturday, I know the rifle shoots, I just have to worry about choking like a dog on a bone!
Steve RA
I'm going to try Varget some day, when I see some on a shelf or @ PV.

dbletap_ed
I tested my loads this morning and the results of 2 - 5 shot groups at 100yds follow: As above 69gr SMK CCI BR4 primers at 2.250 Best Worst 24.2 0.8 1.0 24.4 0.3 0.6 - The best is 4 shots I jerked the crap out of one 24.6 0.7 0.9 24.8 0.7 1.1 25.0 0.7 1.3 It never ceases to amaze me the difference 0.2 grs of powder will make. I will load up more with 24.4 and have at it. BTW rifle is a JP15 with a 20" barrel which has just over 2,000 rounds through it.
