Stock II grip options

I'm finding the stock II extreme grips a bit to small for liking. Picture here (http://imgur.com/27dLgRm).

I have some henning grips on my limited and love them.. but I don't see large frame stock II grips listed on his website anymore. Is he no longer making them? Anyone have any other suggestions with regards to grips?

What's wrong with stock grips?

It's a case of goldilocks stock grips are too fat... eric's grips are too skinny, hennings grips are just right.

I actually just sorted this out. I remembered I had an extra set of henning's installed on my tanfo match, they were actually actually for a stock II, but I had made them work for my match, by radiusing the inside edge. Swapped them over to my stock II this evening. I then filed down my the match's plastic ones... added some grip tape, and everything is right as rain. I'm still curious as to whether or not henning is still making grips. Maybe I'll give him a call tommorow

I have the same problem. stock wood grips a little too big and I don't want to wear them out in comp (I like having the stock grips tucked away). I now have the extreme grips and just like with CZ's they are way too thin for anyone but a small child.

If henning makes thicker ones I might get some.

I had the same problem with my CZ. I liked the thickness of the stock rubber grips but they weren't grippy. I got polymer checkered grips, too thin. CZ checker grips? too thin. finally got DAA THICK alloy grips with tape and they are much better. :) it's an expensive process. :(

I used Hogue Extreme Series G10 grips on my Baby Desert Eagle 2 and it feels nice with my size XL hand. I also find the stock wood grips on my Stock 2 too think. For those familiar with other Tanfoglio guns do you think these grips will fit a large frame Stock 2?

I love the Piranha G10.

he says witness full size. the full size bit usually refers to the length (short or magwell length for guns with MW, and long or full size for guns without). I can't be sure if they are large frame or not. best to ask him.

no, well not exactly. the CZ75 grips don't fit large frame tanfogs. BUT it varies a bit from grip to grip as some are slightly different shapes and may or may not interfere on part of the frame. some grips you can 'fit' to the gun by filing/chopping them a bit.

kneeling atlas has experience fitting different grips and can probably answer better than me. I have a range of CZ75 type grips and a few large frame tanfog grips. from memory they were enough different that I've never bothered.

I have a set of these and they fit a standard large frame, mine being a 10mm Stock. They are thin and have a very agressive surface (not good for exposed skin, lol) but they are made out of flimsy plastic. Personally, I wouldn't recommend them.

I also tried a pair of these for my cz and while they feel nice and seem to fit my hands pretty well, they are pretty flimsy. I cracked mine at the screw hole when tightening them up. I didn't over torque them either. I think if he used a more solid polymer or something harder they would be good to go. Edited by Prov1x

I put the stock wooden grips on a belt/floor sander and get them flat, then put grip tape over top. Gives the feel of a nice, squared off grip - not too big, not too small. I like the square feeling grip because I think it causes me to point the gun better.

Are they much thinner than the stock walnut grips?

They seem to be but the profiles involved may make them seem more so. The factory wood grips on my 10mm Stock have more of a radius front to rear then the Lava grips do. The Lava grips are pretty much flat across the surface, which I like.

I'll agree with that, I like the shape but the current material they're made of is wholly inadequate.

As you can tell I'm no photographer. If you compare the tops of the grips to the receiver you can get a slight idea as to the difference in grip thickness and if you compare the area by the grips screws (screwed in an equal amount of turns) you can get a feel for the contours of the grips.

That picture is awesome, it's like Tanfo porn

While we're on the subject of grips, my new set be Tillander Custom Grips just arrived. They appear to be molded off of factory rubber grips. These are definitely thicker than the Lava grips and they are also made of a much better material, requiring next to no fitting. I intend to buy more Tillander Grips for some of my other guns, certainly recommended.

(If the Lava grips were made of this material, required minimal fitting and their price was lowered, they would be worth considering.)

I never cared for the tackiness of rubber grips, they have a tendency to wear out my shirts during concealed carry. These grips are available to fit over two hundred models at present and just about any color you can imagine. The colors are molded into the grips rather than a sprayed on finish.

I opted for Bone White with blood spatter, I can't say that I care much for Zombie green, lol. An odd choice to be sure for a carry piece.

I hear you there, I really like the thickness of Lava grips and that's about it.

The nice thing is you can get two pair of Tillanders for what it cost for one pair of Lava grips.

I thought about doing as cpa50h mentioned and shave off the top surface of a pair of Tillanders to the same thickness as a set of Lave grips. The color is molded in, so that shouldn't present a problem.

  • 4 weeks later...

I ordered the brass grips for my xtreme s2...although i feel the xtreme grips might be a little too thin. I love the factory aluminum grips. ....might just stick with them
