RickyH
When I install my front sight on the CZ custom website it says a number 40 bit I'm going to try to find it at Grainger so what is the exact size I need?
kneelingatlas
Machinists' drill bit sets use numbers and letters rather than fractions; a #40 drill bit is 0.098" or 2.489mm, the closest fractional size is 3/32".ETA: Granger should have #40 drill bits. mgardner
I'm wondering what gun you are putting the sight on. I use a #47 drill for the 75B, Shadow and 97. It's .0785. The pin is 2 mm. It's important on the 75's because it holds the barrel bushing too. Edited January 17, 2014 by mgardner
Slidestop
Aren't the front fiber optic sights from CGW already pre-drilled? Seems like an easier solution.
eerw
Aren't the front fiber optic sights from CGW already pre-drilled? Seems like an easier solution. Pre drilled notch can be off, can make for a mess. drilling takes 30 secs, drill bit is $1.
RaylanGivens
Newly Redesigned for Easier Installation of Sight Bushing Cross Pin! No Drilling or Filing Necessary to Install Cross Pin! Dawson's front sights seem to be pre-drilled... Seems like the plan if you like Dawson front sights... Are there any videos of front sight installation on a Shadow? BeerBaron
I don't know of vids but it's not rocket surgery. the CZC site has a decent explanation of it, including how to drill, from which side to drill etc.
RickyH
I'm putting it on a CZ 75 SP 01 and you are correct it is a number 47 bit
mgardner
Ricky, that was a close one. Make sure you use cutting oil (at least WD-40) and don't push the drill, let it cut. If it gets stuck back it out and slowly go in again. Drill from the left side so the drill can't push the sight out. I put one on yesterday and it's pretty easy. You may have to stone the bottom of the sight so it doesn't shave metal when you tap it in before you drill. Good luck.
RickyH
I install it yesterday went good like you said just go slow and don't push the bit. I appreciate the help
alma
I put a Daswon front in my TS last night. It was pre drilled and installation couldn't have been easier. I am also using the Dawson FO adjustable rear sites.
