818-DVC
I just looked at it on jobobs outfitters, and you are correct. I wonder how much structural rigidity would be lost if you were to open up the other side to make a lefty's dream gun. Steve RA
The ones Joe Bob sells are either right hand or ambi, they don't have a left hand only (at least, not yet). I've got an LAR side charge upper that is left only.
troupe
White Oak Armament does side charger conversions on your equipment. I have had 2 of them and I like them a lot. Matches that require the bolt locked back before advancing down range, the side charger is the ticket. Much faster to lock back than the charging handle. xrrcr
I am a goofy footed shooter, righty with a dominent left eye so I built my own using these: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/138383/dpms-upper-receiver-stripped-ar-15-low-profile-flat-top-matte http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=1656
Mike Morcillo
I like that side charge handle set-up. Looks like the FN/FAL, which keeps your head down on the rifle, So much easier than the typical AR charging handle. I'll wait to see if the prices settle a bit. Zebraman
I just saw the Gibbs upper last week. I have always wanted to get a side charging AR upper, but have been put off by either a reciprocating handle, the inability to use a lightened carrier or the price. This looks like a good answer to me. Any updates?
davsco
long day so i'm probably not thinking it thru, but why would lefties not like the charging handle on the left side?
StraightUp_OG
They will have to come off the grip and possibly lose their cheek weld. Righties can stay down on it.
