KentG
Along with a couple other things Im wanting to add more light over my loading bench. Its in a spare bedroom with 8' ceilings. The bench is 5' and I am not sure what way to go. Either add a couple 5" recessed lights with either CFL of standard floods directly over the bench, OR a 4' flourescent with 2 or 4 T8 bulbs. I dont want to overkill to the point of making it too bright or hot. I already have a nice arm light with magnifier, http://www.electrixtask.com/model_7426.htm but want more general lighting. Room already has another ceiling fan with light kit. What do the rest of you do?
dover0020
I have a 4' light with T8 bulbs hanging over my press in the basement. I works great.
Poppa Bear
My bench has a shelf across the back and I have two lights attached, one in each top corner. They cross in the middle where the press is located. I also have a 4' fluorescent above the bench mounted to the ceiling. How permanent do you want the lighting? The recessed is nice but you cannot readily take it back out. The 4' fluorescent can be hung off a couple of hooks or screwed directly to the ceiling. juan
4 footer no shadows works great.
Pat Miles
One four foot 2 tube flourescent light hanging on chains from two eye bolts in the ceiling. Put the switch in the hanging power cord down to a recepticle. Absolute minimum damage to cieling to hang and the flourescents will be cooler than incandescent bulbs. Lots o'light. KentG
Cool. Im going to go with a 4' T8 4 bulb light. I will hardwire it to a existing wall switch for the closet where I keep other reloading supplies. Im more worried about how much heat and I know that floods do put out more heat. Looks like it will be this one. http://www.lowes.com/pd_335718-1390-GL4548-4T8-BA_4294798239__?productId=3355630&Ns=p_product_avg_rating|1&pl=1¤tURL=%3FNs%3Dp_product_avg_rating%7C1&facetInfo=
Graham Smith
If you have a wall shelf, consider adding some kind of gooseneck lamp that you can use to put extra light where and when you need it.
Buzi
I settled on a selection of work lamps using curly florescent tubes. Less heat but it does take a few minutes for them to get to full light value. I can switch em on and off as needed. I find I prefer that option to having a fixed overhead. If I have to I have a background overhead fixture with real incandescent bulbs in it. Here are some free reload bench porn pics. Note, I was careful to turn certain figurines away from the camera so this should be work and kid safe. Unless your a Mennonite or something. Then turn away. One shot is with flash assist, the other two are varying degrees of natural light with Sony camera going nuts on processing.
ronin16
Nice reloading set up Buzi!!! Three presses on the one bench! Do you also double up that space and work/clean your guns? Just curious cause I'm looking at doing a similar set up
Buzi
Thanks. Yep. That bench is sort of multi purpose. I use it for cleaning guns and or tinkering on whatever when I feel like working indoors rather than out in the garage or at the shed work bench. The RCBS I just c-clamp in place though I did drill a couple holes for it lately, so I can free up more bench room quick. I use a old Panavise mounted on a 3/8" thick slab of 9" diameter lead 'sheeting' to help hold guns when at the bench. The IPAD is mounted via RAM Mounting Systems attachments for just in case I have to watch another episode of 24 or something while at the bench. It has other uses at times. It recently dawned on me I need to scrounge up a alternate safe to stash ammo in. Guns are locked up and burgler resistant but the ammo isn't. Dumb. So that will free up a lot of lower bench space as that is where I've got a buttload of ammo just now. Just haven't quite figured out what sort of safe I want to get for the ammo. Buzi
Scooter that is a nice clean and bright set up. Almost looks like a doctors office. Like the cabinetry. However I get the strange feeling I'm looking at a Escher drawing when viewing those pics. If I look for long I get dizzy.

anachronism
Can you find LED light bulbs in your area? Florescent bulbs drive my scale nuts.
Scootertheshooter
I never have had an issue with interference from fluorescents . I did wire mine on a different circuit and properly grounded them but no issues as you described.
RePete
I'm running 9 double 4' flourecents in an area 18' by 22', and 2 of them are over the workbench. It's bright in there, but I can see.
KentG
I ended up putting up a 4' fixture with 4 T8 tubes. directly above the loader. It adds quite a bit of light. I also noticed it adds some heat to the room so I dont want to over do it with more.
