solaritx
Have been lurking and reading and learning. I now have a 38 super trubor with comp. Looking for powder I have seen the following Autocomp V 3N37 and V 3N38 Others???? Why do you like what you use and what problems have you had with other powders (dirty, etc)? With the current status of powder, primers, bullets, etc looking for suggestions. Knowledge is power. Also could anyone give insight into the primers? See regular and rifle. Why??? and are mag primers good for this type of round? Thanks Garry
bassochist
i always used, 3n38, but n350, 3n37 and n340 do the job, i also tried sp2, but that didn't work well with the dillon powder measure and it's also very dirty in the gun. for primers i used, fed 200 spm. dfwmiket
IMR 4756, N350, 3n37........ used all, like IMR 4756 the best. Small rifle primers.
edwin garcia
In my opinion, it's user preference. In my experience with my previous trubor setup, IMR 4756/7625 have better impulse/dot tracking feel than VV3N38/N105/Vectan SP-2. Where as, my current setup feels superior using VV3N38/N105/SP-2 way better than IMR powders. But, YMMV.
GuildSF4
WSR primer, IMR 7625 behind a 125g Zero JHP. Small Rifle as that was suggested by other shooters due to pressures, have tried small pistol with no ill effect, and not seen difference in the primers flattening in my gun, YMMV. Mag primers may be OK, it depends on your gun and load. Edited February 20, 2013 by GuildSF4
sauza45
I use N105 and small rifle primers. That was what the gun builder said to use, and I have not had any trouble. I also use the same primer in my 40 limited load.
Too_Slow
WSR and HS6. I also use these in 9 Major as well. Brian
Hi-Power Jack
I use N105 and small rifle primers. That was what the gun builder said to use, and I have not had any trouble. I've heard from a GM that he also recommends the N105.
818-DVC
I think Bob Londrigan (Brazos) recommends N105 and 4576 in his modified trubor barrel guns. I don't think you'll find a softer load than N105, but it's spendy and you use a ton of it.
Jaxshooter
When I loaded 38 super compI used 3N38 exclusively. It was in SV IMM. I used 10.4 gr with. 124/125 gr JHP. Barrel had 3 holes plus comp. 171 PF Edited February 23, 2013 by Jaxshooter
mike3232
I use 10.4 gr of N105 behind 124 mg JHP. CCI small rifle primers (400). Works great for me out of a shorty. Makes about 172pf Edited February 23, 2013 by mike3232
