P.E. Kelley
Who of you are shooting the WWII division? Patrick I'll be there, Patrick. Just have to decide how authentic I want to make it now.... 1943 Springfield w/ a 9-43 SA barrel or a Post-War HRA that's like new..... I read the re-read the rules..while I would not "gayout" and use a comp I did not see where it is disallowed...Sheldon???
lmccrock
Yeah, Mick asked earlier about brakes/comps in WW2 division. I guess we will have to add more rules to the WW2 rifle section. Oh, expect no comps in WW2. It will probably NOT be as strict as "John C. Garand Match" compliant, but not sure how much more lenient it will be. GeneralChang
Comps on a Garand? Heresy...and is forbidden.
Mickster
Atta-boy Chang. That's what I was expecting and that's what I was hoping. Have you ever seen the box magazine fed Garands? That is also heresy and should be forbidden. Several issues should be addressed. How about Garands in .308? Heavy match grade stainless barrels? Custom fiberglass stocks? In a somewhat loose configuration of "as-issued" would be my vote. I don't have a stainless barreled match grade Garand but if someone wanted to shoot it I would not disallow it. 1chota
someone earlier had replied that muzzle brakes were not allowed. is ok. we fighting the good fight. i am off to the range in the morning to get zeros with both my M-1s.
GeneralChang
Basically the rifle has to be as issued. No fancy stocks, detachable box mags and much less compensators are allowed. Reliability work, trigger jobs etc are ok provided they don't alter the rifles external appearance or the weapons safety.

P.E. Kelley
Sorry to have made this cool division more of a pain, General, but you know how shooters are. Since I am in the market for an M1 I would like to not buy something I can't use. I like the idea of "as issued" for the most part. Yes, that is subject to debate but let's say external appearance? Give me / us a shout...as I said I will be gearing up as I don't own a Garand. Thanks Patrick

lmccrock
Rolling thunder and a 20 rd mag? You are just ASKING for trouble. CMP And USPSA membership counts as "Membership in CMP Affiliated Organization", so download the activity form, shoot a USPSA match, and have a club officer or RO fill it out. DinosaurMikeGolf
General could you please change my entry to reflect WWII division. Now I am on the hunt for a Garand! This ought to be cool. Patrick NO NO NO!!! Patrick must be kept out of the division so that the rest of us stand a chance.... I have seen that man shoot his M1A. But can he reload using an Enbloc clip and not get a Garand thumb?
DinosaurMikeGolf
Who of you are shooting the WWII division? Patrick Probably yes, but I am going to shoot a couple club matches first. I am a little short on suitable 1911 mags (most of mine are for L10), and I need to plug my shotgun mag tube. And find a good way to carry loaded enblocs. And learn to load shotgun weak handed because the enblocs need to go strongside where my shotgun trays ride on the belt. And replace my 1911 holster because the old one is plum wore out. Nothing insurmountable. Try putting the Enblocs on the sling and reloading from there. They will stay until removed and are much closer to the rifle that way. I might try it this weekend at the club match. My M1 has a sling on it now. But it may come off since this is not a "sling" match. Slings are not forbidden, and they usually just get in the way. Hmmm, that would be attaching ammo to the rifle before Make Ready. Maybe not much different than dealing with shotgun rounds on a sidesaddle. You garand guys might be interested in this http://www.originalsoegear.com/garand.html Ouch. Not at $175.

I have seen that man shoot his M1A. if you are afraid, just put Visine in his coffee. if, you are afraid. I know my good friend was just joking about the Visine but check this out. From Wikipedia "Visine prank myth A common urban legend is that a few drops of Visine in an unsuspecting victim's drink will cause a harmless bout of diarrhea. This will not produce diarrhea, but oral administration of Visine can induce dangerous side effects related to Visine's ingredient tetrahydrozoline hydrochloride such as: Dangerously low body temperature (hypothermia) Blurred vision Nausea and vomiting Difficulty in breathing or even a complete halt in breathing Elevating (hypertension) then dropping (hypotension) blood pressure Possible coma Seizures and tremors Pfizer recommends that anyone ingesting Visine get medical attention or contact a poison control center immediately.[2]" Patrick Oh in case anyone was curious I shot my very first 3 gun match ( a little local thing) with a M1 and loaded fast enough to keep the AR's off the podium. DMS42
Pat, if you don't want to buy an M1 you can borrow almost any of mine. I have M1s that range from well used to almost new, some even have new barrels on them and there are several that are Match Grade .30-06 and even a couple of Match Grade 7.62. GeneralChang
Reminder that this match is a tribute to the men and women of the United States Armed Forces that served in the Pacific Theater of Operations, those that participate in this division shall receive special consideration and a very rich prize table. Brownell's has a grab'n'go M-1 clip carrier much like a messenger bag slung over the shoulder. lots less $$$ then there are the surplus m1 belts (most are reproductionss) from places like cheaper than dirt and other surplus vendors.
