Nemesis Lead
I am running a Wilson Combat classic 1911 in single stack. The only real mod is a Dawson no gap magwell. I also run Dawson extended base pads for my wilson combat ETM magazines. My question is.....will my gun fit inside the USPSA box? Before you say--"just stick it in the box and see for yourself!"......My club does not have a box! Trying to avoid a rude surprise at a major match! Many thanks, nem
Corey
I have Dawson magwells and their basepads on 2 SS guns and they both fit the box. Pending an irregularly long frame or high sights, it should. But yes, your best bet is to put one in a box and find out

Nemesis Lead
Yikes--two different answers! My sights are bo-mars--I don't think they are exceptionally tall. Jake and Corey--What kind of mags and basepads do you use?
Corey
I used CMC last year and Wilson 47Ds this year. No issues with either. For additional info, I have the No-gap version and the special No-gap pads for the mags.
Pat Miles
You say that you don't want any rude surprises at a major match... build yourself a box! Easy enough to do out of particle board. Then you KNOW there won't be any surprises. Pat
limited 10
My Springfield with adjustable sights, Dawson no-gap with pads on Tripp mags, fit fine. The pads are angled so no trimming is necessary. Its best to just make a box, to be sure. You could draw the box on paper for a quick check.
BlueOvalBruin
Sketch out the box dimensions on a piece of paper and put your gun down on it to see how it would fit.
juan
magwell is usualy not the problem. the mag base pads are, they usualy take a little sanding on the front. if I depress my rear sight my pistol fits snug. build a bigger box and take it with you to these matches and have them use that one. TISCHLJ
Make or get USPSA box to specified dimensions. Ensure pistol will fit, with ALL magazines to be used,in box WITH LID CLOSED. With NO adjustment to pistol or sights. Ensure ALL allied equiptment will comply with USPSA rules for SS. Ensure pistol/s will be under specifified maximum weight with ALL magazines to be used, per USPSA rules as set forth in USPSA most recent rulebook. Ensure all modifications will comply with same. Be ready to be weighed, and boxed, And Chronographed. . . It is YOUR responsibility. That's all there is to it . . . .
EkuJustice
Or order an IDPA box. If it fits that it fits the USPSA. It "should" fit but never know unless you check same with the gun weight. Steel guide rod and MSH, and g10 grips can push it
old506
If using the correct Dawson basepads that are made to fit the box, it will fit the box. I know for sure I have the no gap with Dawson pads, it fits perfect. Call Dawson, they will tell you. Be careful and call Dawson though and be specific. I asked another vendor, that carries Dawson products, which basepad I needed and they assured me that they had the right ones so I purchased it from them, it ended up being the wrong basepad, of course, and they wanted to charge me a "restocking fee" to return it! For the Wilson Mags you want Dawson Part number 002-023. Again, call Dawson, tell them what you need and make sure that it is that number.
