Singlestack
I liked the way my open gun turned out so well that I sent my SVI off to get hardchrome and had Jim paint the grip. Now they match

Guest Larry Cazes
Wow! Love the chrome on that SV! Not too crazy 'bout the grip, though. Is that a fiber front sight?
Precision40
How does the painted grip hold up to gun cleaners? I had one painted and Hoppes took the paint right off.

Singlestack
sv45, Accurate Plating And Weaponry did the chrome for me. They did a very nice job and the turnaround was 2 weeks. Larry, I probably shoulda started a thread on grip color so I could have got it painted the "right" color..... Yes, it is a SVI fiber optic FS. Precicion40, I have no idea how the paint holds up to Hoppes. I'm pretty sure Jim says its ok. What I do know is that since I started using Slide Glide on HC'ed guns I have very little need for Hoppes any more.

Sixgun
The Open grip looks to be a Roupe style with undercutting and the Limited grip is just painted and relieved, of is it very lightly textured? Answered my own question (I looked at the larger picture of the Limited gun, it's quite easy to see the texturing there.) Nice looking! How do they hold up to wear/handling? Ray C. Singlestack
The grip on the Limited is "factory Alfaro" from SVI that I did the undercutting on. The grip on the Open gun was done by J.L Hardy. Wish I would have thought to do the double undercut before I had it painted. I like the double undercut. I like the J.L. Hardy grip better. dvc40jim
The paint on both the older Alfarro grips, and on my grips holds up well to normal wear and tear. You will always lose the paint where the trigger guard contacts the holster, but its minimal. As for Hoppe's, break cleaner, Gunk, carb cleaner or any other solvent that you might use to clean the gun with.... if you get it on the paint then you might have troubles. Its best to test a little area first, like on the hood on your car, if it doesn't do damage there, then chances are the grip paint will hold up as well. I recommend that you clean mine when they need it with a mild soap and water. www.advancedperformanceshooting.com
Singlestack
Uh John - where's the SINGLESTACK Those are some durned pretty guns - how do they run? My Favorite SS is currently in the process of getting a face lift. I am going to do a 2 tone finish on it. Nice blue slide and either hard chrome or NP3 frame. I'm kinda leaning toward NP3 right now. It deserves the attention. I have shot the blue off of it. The open gun came to life in February 2003. I shot it all year. I'm pretty sure I had 2 jams all year and of course one of them was at Tenn. State. It wanted to act up the last match I shot though. Sputtered the whole day. Actually had a good 10 second malf on one stage. I think a piece of trash got in my chamber and was preventing lock up by just a fraction of a inch. I was racking good bullets and trying to pull a trigger that just wouldn't move. It was like I had about 10 bullets in a row that were bulged. I caught myself looking at the hammer while I was trying to pull the trigger.. The other hiccups were mag related. I can't complain too much though. All my springs were a year and about 9k rds old. I've since replaced all of my springs but I have not been beck to the range yet. I have not shot the SV in a match in over a year. It was running the last time I shot it. I made B with it in January 2003 and then shot 2 more matches with it before the Mongoose doomed it to the safe.

Guest Larry Cazes
Singlestack, is the undercutting on the "front" bottom of the limited gun trigger guard to allow for weak hand clearance?
scooterj
The forward relief cut is to allow for a higher support hand hold = more control
