foilhat
I was thinking about buying a shooting star and would also like a plate rack. Rangemasterrowdy.com has a star for $840 and a large plate rack for $551. I would probably get the plate rack first and wait on the star. Shipping on the plate rack is $150. Does anyone know of a place to buy these items closer to IL? Range Master is located in OK. Has anyone used the star from this company, or could you suggest one of similar or lower price? Thanks for any help.
Dan Sierpina
I looked at the Star, it's made of mild steel, and won't hold up to the light fast bullets that Open shooters use. At least it won't hold up for a long time.
B_Ayers
Might want to contact www.ar15targets.com, they did a polish plate rack for me.....
bbbean
...mild steel, ... That would be a concern for me.
Toolguy
Mild steel won't hold up to anything but .22 rimfire for very long.
assaulter
MGM has a star for around $660 shipped and it's 500 brinell. They have plate racks too. Good people. They call their star a whirlygig. Edited August 1, 2010 by assaulter
Glockcomma
I think I would go for MGM over anything else. Tim
spanky
Terry Ashton builds and sells them for $650 picked up or $850 shipped. We are picking up one from him for our club in a couple weeks. Edited August 1, 2010 by spanky

jmorris
I don't know how handy your or your friends might be but you can build one for less than $200 if you have the stuff to do it. There are some in the forum below. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showforum=65 Edit: And time. Edited August 3, 2010 by jmorris
GrumpyOne
The one I built for under $60 is holding up quite nicely. I've had to refine it a bit here and there, but nothing substantial broken as of yet.
