BLUTO
Stupid question perhaps but when I open a photo say in the Classifieds it is ginormous (huge). Is there a setting somewhere that tames this down?
benos
I can't remember off the top of my head. I'm pretty sure there is, and I'm pretty sure it's set to something... I'll look around in the ACP when I get caught up. be
Sarge
I had noticed that too. I just figured they were being sent that way.
benos
Stupid question perhaps but when I open a photo say in the Classifieds it is ginormous (huge). Is there a setting somewhere that tames this down? Could you please provide a link to a post with a pic like you are talking about? I need to see if the pic is linked (can't control the size of those) or in the post with tags. be
BLUTO
http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=108532 This is a good example - may be the size they attached it at but if there is a setting on my end it would make it oh so much more easy to view........ benos
Wow, that was quite the wopper! I shrunk that one btw. And I'll take a look around the ACP for a settting to control max pic size. (There isn't a personal seetting for it.) be
benos
After a crazy amount of digging, I found that an uploaded file's size is controlled within the server's PHP configuration. So I dropped the max file upload size from 8 MB to 1 MB. Hopefully that might encourage folks to learn how to scale down files before uploading them. be
BLUTO
Cool - good to know it wasn't me - kept looking at setting and such but couldn't find anything - gracias
sperman
The photos are still very large. I thought at one point they would automatically size to fit the screen. Maybe I just imagined that. Here is another example, just added today. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=113158&view=findpost&p=1284594
SiG Lady
Forum members really, really need to reduce the size of their photo images before launching them here. It's just too much of a load on the system and on viewers with some screen-size considerations or those who just appreciate a bit of polite consistency in size on screen. BritinUSA
FYI: There are two size considerations. The file size and the photo size. Brian has set the file size to 1MB but in theory you could post a huge picture that still used less than 1Mb (depending on the degree of compression in the JPG) For Windows: Members can use the PAINT application to shrink both the file size and photo size. For Mac: Use the PREVIEW application to shrink both the file size and photo size.
PJ BAD
What do you recommend as a photo size? Why not post a size for all to use?
BritinUSA
640x480 photo size is plenty big enough Set Resolution to 72 DPI
Nik Habicht
I've always figured that somewhere between 640-800 pixels in the long dimension (wide for horizontals, tall for verticals) by what ever looks good, as far as a crop is concerned is big enough. If you're photographing a rifle or shotgun, the picture might be 800 x200 -- because mostly you don't really need a 400 pixels of floor or background...
