  1. Its like you tore a page right out of my past. The kids are in their 30s now...the BS worked on one of them, but the other rejected it all, and is just fine. Best wishes, its tough!! Jim
  2. You can spend some $$ rippin rounds And My trigger finger gets tired pretty fast. Nice run Jim
  3. We all get tired of the ads interrupting every 5 minutes. I dont mind the negative ads so much...but with a billion dollars to spend, you would think they could at least come up with a few new lies. The ones they have are 30 years old, and starting to annoy me Jim
  4. I should have made an instructional sheet on assembly, And i will soon. No video exists because I did not want the public to see how I designed the gas system. With so many people stealing my technology as it is, It was the only way to protect it. You can call me for detailed information Jim
  5. I will answer a few MKA questions here. Lets start with recoil, In the Saiga the gas system is shortened, this allows porting closer to the chamber. Being able to dump so much energy early in the cycle when pressure is still quite high, results in the low felt recoil. Its not an issue of the comp being better, you can take them off and still have about the same recoil. The MKA design does not allow a shortened gas system, and it has a long pressure dwell time to cycle correctly. This and other issues prevent ports or comps from being placed very far back on the barrel, so they are less effective. The biggest issue I see with the Saiga is maintainability, NO major components are available! I know several people who have broken bolt carriers, and have had to buy a new gun just for parts. I also know a number of people that have run various Saigas for many years with HIGH round counts that have had to repeatedly replace battered and worn out guns. With a cost north of $3000.00, no replacement parts and a rather short life span, I was unwilling to continue manufacturing them. The MKA has is own list of shortcomings, but parts availability is not among them. And most of the top issues in the MKA have been addressed or are being addressed. You have to keep in mind the Saiga has been here for well over 20 years, I have been building MKAs for one year. In the next year many new things are going to happen with the MKA, that will eclipse what has come before. Please don't get the wrong idea about what I am saying here, both guns are highly capable, and well suited to competition. Its just a simple evaluation, In my opinion the Saiga has come about as far as it can, and the MKA has a bright future in respect to where it is now. Time will tell...I am just getting started Jim
  6. You remove the original guide rod and rear handguard cup from the upper receiver (unscrew it) Install the new guide rod, reassemble upper No cutting drilling or any other mods. Jim
  7. I have one of the older sti aluminum grips on my open gun, fitted it how I thought it should fit. Several years and MANY thousands of 172pf loads, and no cracks yet.....knock on wood Jim
  8. they are overmolds on the 5rnd mag design. im thinkin I could describe the internal geometry and dimensions pretty close Jim
  9. It seems I made a perfectly good hobby into a 12 hour a day seven day a week job  I cant remember the last time I had time to visit, read or play on the forum. It seems so long ago we could shoot two local pistol matches and a ruger rimfire match each month. Looking forward to a day when I am caught up with the work, and can spend so time just relaxing. For now I am giving all effort to developing new parts to make current projects as good as possible for my customers. The hate forum may not be the correct place to post this, I dont hate what I am doing, I love creating new stuff I guess I just miss some things, and people that I used to have more time for It also seems odd that I am so driven to create in metal those things that lurk in the inner most recesses of my mind Am I alone out here....or are there kindred spirits out there as well? Jim
  10. center of mass llc.......com 208-346-6065, Rick This is the best 3gun open set up I have seen! Jim
  11. I have had 870s for years and years, its about as solid a gun as you can get. But I am shooting heavy metal this weekend, so I broke down and got a super nova. I dont much like the gun, but it does load much faster and easier than my 870 It also shoots slugs very well. There is little doubt I can run the nova better than the 870 Its not the gear thats important, Its just getting out there with friends and having a good time Just use what you can, or what you have and have fun Jim
  12. Today Is Nancis Birthday, she wont say exactly which one Just what do you get for the Girl who has everything I was going to get her a new skillet, and a wet vac. But after much thinking...I figure she would just hit me with the skillet...then clean up with the wet vac So I opted for the thing every girl wants....a new gun Her new STI match master should arrive any day. Then she can kick my behind proper at the next PPC match Happy Day Sweetheart! Jim PS sent from the dog house, where I will be staying for a while
  13. Some of us will need all the luck we can get! What is it...Winners are either good, lucky or treacherous...you choose. Im old ...so its all the above Down to the last couple of million things I have to do before I can go But I DO have a couple of VERY nice STEAKS to grill on Thursday night..and some quite nicely aged tequila Jim
  14. very little, it slows the cycle a tiny bit Jim
  15. My 26" Rem 870 just wont cut it...need sights for slugs Gonna have to break down, smear myself with olive oil, and go buy a super nova J-Ho will never let me live it down ...If by chance he doesnt read this thread, I may get away with it Jim PS Chris is collecting his WEE guns and his scooby doo under shorts
  16. I would have paid real money to hear that one Chris wants to know if he can come and shoot WEE-Man, he dont have a 308 or any gear Jim
  17. I guess I have to chime in here. The saiga has been around for over 20 years, and has only been exploited in 3 gun for a few years. It took a few years just to work out the mags then another decade or so to bring it up to where it is now. The MKA has only been here for a single year, I have been working on it for less than a year. In just a few months I have designed and built the following parts. All parts USA made 1 High energy hammer compatible with a stock AR15 trigger. 2 disconnector 3 ambi safety trunnion using levers from Battle Arms 4 Billet aluminum railed handguards with ambi side charging system. 5 complete pump action system, to convert from semi auto. 6 complete new high energy operation system, short stroke captive piston. 7 adapter for AR15 stocks, carbine or fixed. 8 adapter for AR15 pistol grip, accepts all makes. 9 mag couplers for surefire to 5 rnd and 2 rnd MKA mags. 10 gen 1 mag extensions for MKA 5rnd mag. 11 gen 2 mag extensions for MKA 2rnd mag. 12 Rail mounted shell stop and spacers for coupled mags. 13 H&K style barrel mounted front sight. 14 accessory mag well. 15 accessory bolt lock, trigger finger actuated. 16 anti walk hammer and trigger pins. 17 stainless guide rod. 18 aluminum guide rod. 19 Stainless piston (direct replacement 922r part) 20 extended mag button. 21 extended charging handle. 22 titanium firing pin. 23 direct replacement recoil spring. 24 plus 1.5lb recoil spring. 25 high load mag spring. 26 accessory rails for stock handguards. 27 Billet aluminum complete lower receiver assembly. 28 mid barrel comp. Not all of these parts are available to the public yet, but all have been prototyped and are ready for full production. where do you think it will be in a year or so? The only real issues with the guns at this time are related to the early MKA mags and the mag springs. Its a learning curve for sure, but it has come far in just a few months. I dont think the Saiga will just go away....but its nice to have an alternative. Jim
  18. Guide lines at times seem unreasonable But....and its a BIG but.... The disgusting things said, posted or done on other forums make it quite clear that they ARE NECESSARY. Just smile and go with it Jim
  19. The loss of any shooting show, is just that...a loss Good or not so good, in general it was a plus for the shooting world i will miss it Jim
  20. When I joined the Sheriffs dept, the stach had to go...after decades, it was gone Do it!!! while you can Jim
  21. My M1A is on its way here now It was built for me by the MASTERFULL Dan Sierpina, I know its going to be awesome!!!!! Cant wait to get away for a few days of Friends and shooting Jim
  22. In my fire control group, safety is top of list, the pull can be reduced with after market AR springs such as JP offers.I use standard AR springs that are quite a bit heavier Jim
  23. The hammer pivot or trunnion has an OD that prevents AR springs from fitting over them I do have a source that has made hammers that are identical to the original but have a smaller trunnion, they do count as a 922r part and allow AR springs to be used contact me if you want one, I will get one for you Jim
