  1. Thanks for the info Kimberly ... I shouldn't be too worried with my number 2 spot on the waitlist for Open ....
  2. Get the AGI Milling and Lathe videos by Darrell Holland
  3. If Blue Loctite just a 'gentle' tap with the appropriate tool (alum punch) will do the job. If Red Loctite heat until you see a puff of smoke (does not take very long, maybe 5 seconds) then follow process for Blue Loctite If Green Loctite MORE heat Good luck ..
  4. OOPS, Too Late Nah .. Summer does not start for another couple of days ... 106 today .. 108 for Wednesday ... 110 for Friday ... then the Summer will start
  5. Can you explain what open squading is? thanks Open Squadding is a format we are trying here in Las Vegas, registration starts at 7 and as soon you have a 'squad size' group of shooters (8 to 12) away they go to the first stage, instead of waiting for everyone to show up, have the shooters meeting, etc. Yesterday by 9 AM was near 100 degrees already, the first squad got done by 10.30 with the 5 stages, 116 rounds match. Being a 'morning person' I like it very much. Of course it has two drawbacks, stages need to be completed (or near completed) the day before and not many people are around for taking them down.
  6. Congratulations, welcome to the crowd of Desert Shooters ... is never hot enough to miss a match!! With the new Open Squadding system starting at 7 AM put you out no later than 10.30 .. perfect time to go home and jump on the pool!
  7. Thanks, mystery solved. I searched left and right without any luck.
  8. Does anyone knows what caliber a #K shell plate is for? Never seen one before ... Any ideas? Not for .40 (intended purpose), seems even bigger than .45 ACP
  9. #3 for Open for me ... thanks to Chrome autofill I guess ...
  10. There you have it!! tuned mags, c-more cover in place and a clean gun!!!
  11. I have an Aftec tuned by Cameron on my 38 Super Comp with zero issues to date after many thousands of rounds. My advice is do one thing at a time, mags, springs, followers, mag catch, extractor, chamber. Not the fastest way but the best way ...
  12. Mags seem to be a bit 'out of spec' .. I recommend the Dawson Mag tune-up kit ... got one last year ... no more 'intermittent' issues for me ...recommended measures are .355 on the back and .360 in the front. Can be another plethora of things ... but mags are always a good start. New springs and followers never hurt either.
  13. Yes, 1st, 3rd and 5th Sunday of the month for USPSA. Open Squadding from 7 to 10 AM 2nd Sunday is IDPA, 4th Sunday is Steel Challenge and 3-Gun Every Monday at Clark County Shooting Park and every Thursday at Boulder City Steel Challenge. Visit the links mentioned above for all the details.
  14. I guess Ken and the design team are Equal Opportunity believers!!! Can't wait to Saturday to shoot the match!!
  15. That will be Stage 4 (Do it All) ... that strong-hand lever on the left is going to be interesting!!
  16. Got mine today ... looking forward for a test run at Area 1 this weekend ... so everyone can see how much do I 'need to learn' ...
  17. From Ken Nelson ‎2 Fri/Sat spots, in same squad, available for Area 1 in St. George next week. Get yours!! Come enjoy the fun!!!
  18. I did this one two weeks ago, took me just a few hours to get the grips ready ... not professional but works!
  19. A few slots still available for 'All Day Friday', contact Ken Nelson (ken@kennelson.com) if you want one ... Is going to be a great match, 12 Stages of fun and challenge, plus classes and clinics by some very famous people. Link to the match page (again .. just in case) http://area1championship.com/

  23. Drill and tap (and a bit of JB weld) may be the way to go ... Not much space in there .... or some kind of overlay using the rear serrations ... Thanks for the answers and ideas. Keep them coming.
