  1. Does anyone know what has happened to the Reno match?I noticed it earlier in the year and now it's gone. I was planning on going.
  2. I don't know about the rest of you but I've had a problem locating WSR primers which is what I use in my Limited, Open and AR setups. Therefore I'm gonna have to consider another brand. Federal, CCI, etc. I would like to know what some of you are now using and how they compare to the Winchesters. Thanks.
  3. Yeah Stefan, maybe we'll even be close to a 2 lane highway with shorter curb heights preferably with a nice grassy LZ beside it.
  4. John, You are a class act and I'm glad I've got to know you a little better. I've always been impressed with the setup and follow through at this match but it just seems to get better each year. The stages are really fun and the RO's are ready to help. This ranks as one of the "must shoot" matches that I know of. I'm already looking forward to coming next year. Thanks, Bryan Reid
  5. Have you seen the new rifles built by DPMS? I just received their new catalog. The Panther LR-308L and the LR-260L just might work. They have 18" barrels, custom comps, an adj. JP trigger and it weigh in at 7.9lbs. The cost is $1499 and the wait time is aprox. 6 months. Hope this helps.
  6. Hey Robert, you and everyone else involved with putting this match together are awesome. This is a top notch match in every aspect. I have started picking one long distance match to travel to each year (from Alabama) and this one has been it for the last 2 years. It's always been alot of fun and well ran and definitely worth the trip. Thanks for the congrats Todd and there is a forthcoming version of the "Match Chalice." Bryan
  7. I can think of about 600 reasons YOU LIKED IT TOO!!!! And I didn't even get a chalice!!! Would you happen to have one of those in a sweet tea setup?
  8. I would like to send a very sincere thank you to Roger, Mark, Woogie and everyone else who had a part of putting this match together and making sure it ran smoothly so that the rest of us could have such a great time. I don't believe it could have ran any smoother even without the weather. I read an earlier post about the AL Section matches getting better and better and I definitely believe it. I personally like the one day format and hope it continues. I enjoyed getting to shoot with several old friends and making a few new ones. Congrats to all of the winners and a special thanks to Sam Conway for his sponsoring of this match.
  9. That's a good thing!! Maybe we'll be able to see it through all of the rain and snow. I'm about 1.5 hrs west of the range and it's raining like crazy right now with SNOW forecast overnight. Good luck to all who are shooting today.
  10. Hey Randal, I've got a lightweight t-shirt and an extra pair of shorts if you need them!! I'll also bring plenty of ICE cold water to keep you hydrated as well. Just trying to be helpful.
  11. Hey Mark, I don't believe Randal has received his confirmation yet either. I'm sure it's just an oversight though. We know you guys are really busy setting this match up and we really appreciate it. Looking forward to an awesome match. By the way I had wanted Robbie Wheaton in my squad but accidentally left the squad request form blank. I would like to shoot with my normal group + Robbie. Thanks for your help Mark.
  12. Hey Mark or Roger, Is there any chance of knowing what squad we will be on prior to next Saturday? Thanks, Bryan
  13. Hey Roger, Do you have any idea yet what division will have the most shooters? Just curious. Thanks, Bryan
  14. I forgot to add that shooting starts at 10:00 a.m. if I'm not mistaken.
  15. The Moss Branch monthly club match is held on the 3rd Saturday of the month. Great bunch of people.
  16. Hey Tom, How much more can you pass along right now? This sounds really exciting!! Thanks, Bryan
  17. I know of one guy who has one and really likes it. I guess it's personal preference and I really can't see a downside to it.
  18. Roger, Have you guys finalized the plans (app, fees, plaques) for this match yet? Looking forward to it. Bryan
  19. I bought and loaded quite a few of the Berry's 180 FMJ in .40 awhile back and my groups went downhill quickly. I went back to the M.G. 180 JHP in .40 and have never even thought about switching again. The service from Montana Gold is great.
  20. Yeah, someone takes them seriously. They were well represented at Ft. Benning. I didn't see any unhappy folks complaining about the quality or workmanship there. Did anyone else go into the DPMS display truck? That was awesome by itself.
  21. You have to approach stages differently. You need to be aware of what your split times are and how quickly you can transition from target to target. When doing walk throughs I kinda feel it out as to how I'm gonna shoot it. To me it's all about cadence or rhythm. A guy whose shooting quickly but consistently (nice steady rthym) should be doing better than the guy whose all over the place. I believe that a person can with a little work get their splits consistent enough so that they get used to the amt of movement of the gun to be able to track the sight with no problems. It just takes alot of practice. You've also gotta push it too.
  22. There will be a rifle only match here in B'ham on the 29th of December. The link listed on the prior post will explain it all. It's a really fun match with about 70 shooter's on avg. A good mix of near to far targets, interesting props. A long way from MN though.
  23. I really appreciate all of the feedback. It made me think a little more about what I may actually encounter. According to the Al Dept of Conservation you are only required to use a centerfire cartridge with expanding or mushrooming ammo. No caliber requirement listed. Eleven rounds max, autoloader's OK. I'll probably never try to make a shot past 200 so this will affect my decision. I like the idea of the .308's but that would involve buying a new rifle. That may be something to look into in the off season. It's my understanding that the .243, .260, 6.5 Grendel and the 6.8SPC uppers will fit on my Bushamster lower. Does anyone know if you can just do a barrel/bolt swap for one of these calibers on a .223 upper? Another cost saving approach. Thanks again.
