  1. Is adding an inch or two to a mile significant in terms of an overall distance?
  2. Unless your club does not accept squadding requests, this should be one of those self-correcting problems.
  3. I have a 6 year old son. I keep one loaded gun in a concealed drawer with a hidden magnetic lock by the bed. The rest are always locked up unloaded. I have also been very active in educating my son about firearms and firearms safety. He's been shooting since five and has zero curiosity about guns. He knows that he is not supposed to touch gins without my supervision. He also knows that even the area of the basement where the gun safe is located is off limits to him. So even if a toy of his ends up going into that area during play he calls me or my wife to get it for him. Even though my son is both educated and well behaved, I am beginning to look for a better storage option for my bedside gun.
  4. I was really blown away by the comic book ahem ... graphic novel back when it was first published. So I am really looking forward to this movie. I am holding off on re-reading the ... graphic novel ... until after I watch the movie.
  5. I have a conversion barrel and shoot 147s over solo 1000 at about 135 pf. It extracts fine with a 15lb spring and a steel guide rod. I ran some frangible rounds through it at an indoor steel match the other day - I believe they were 90 grain, not sure about velocity. I had quite a few instances of the case jamming horizontally in the ejection port. I believe 4-5 times over about 80 rounds of ammo. I am going to replace both the extractor and the ejector with the 9mm versions and see how it runs.
  6. Knock yourself out. Just don't make me shoot a shotgun with a detachable magazine to stay competitive. I would rather use speed loaders. If you can shoot your Siaga in tactical, I would like to be able to use speed loaders for my Benelli that I shoot in tactical.
  7. Lets dispense with the hypocrisy. How many Saiga owners run their guns bone stock in 3-gun? And since when is bone stock a requirement for any division in 3-gun? And that is a drop in a bucket compared to the number of tube fed guns. How about the current tactical shooters who have no interest in going out and buying a Saiga - which at this point is a majority.
  8. OK you got me all confused again. Speed loaders should not be allowed because they do not come in the box with the gun? So then Saiga users would only be restricted to the one 5 round mag that comes in the box with Saiga? OK sounds good. Yes, it was a terrible choice for a name. Limited would have been a much better choice.
  9. "Come on!" only works as a compelling argument on Simpsons. Personally I do not feel that either box fed shotguns or speed loaders for tube fed shotguns belong in tactical. But if you allow one, why not the other?
  10. By that logic, any box mag after the first is also not a part of the original gun.
  11. My question is a thread drift. But since this thread has been drifting since about the third or 4th post, I do not feel too bad. If box fed shotguns are allowed in tactical class, why not allow tube fed guns to use speed loaders in tactical class?
  12. What do you mean by "percentage of engagement is marginal, eg. close to 2/3's"? Your sear engages 2/3 of the time?
  13. Of course it is legal. Will it be legal once the new ruling is published? All of this reminds me of an old joke. "How do you keep an idiot in suspense?"
  14. Would that reload that he does with that mag with a weighted base be IDPA legal?
  15. As the best or the worst? Because it could go either way!
  16. I have heard a couple of guys at a match say that they have tumbled their mag tubes.
  17. The question I will never be able to answer about Serenity is - "Would I still like this movie as much if it was not for the TV series." Serenity has great characters and great dialogue. But those characters and their interactions have been developed over fourteen episodes of the TV series. Most movies have 1.5-2 hours to develop the characters and tell the story. So Serenity has quite an advantage there. I had followed similar rationale in keeping Empire Strikes Back and The Wrath Of Khan off my top 5.
  18. Technically any legal USPSA stage should not require more than 8 shots from a single position and thus should be SS friendly.
  19. I am not a master or even close. Shooting at 10 yards I have splits of .25-.3 if I go any faster I can not reliably put them all in the A-zone. But at that speed it feels like I am taking the trigger to the reset and no further on each and every shot. At least that is what I do in practice.
  20. Well since nobody has started a separate thread for this I'll post them here. These movies were not just painful to watch, they made me mourn for the lost minutes that I would never get back. Yor The hunter from the future & Battlefield Earth
  21. Ohh! I forgot that one. Something has to come off my list.
  22. Is 9L on the approved list? I see Pro is on it, but not the L.
  23. I shoot a G-35 loaded to minor in production. A few times I have shot limited because of range conditions - I wanted to drop as few mags as possible on the muddy ground. I can not say that it compares badly to the same setup with major loads. Maybe there is more of a difference closer to the top of the game.
