  1. Seems like these are gone from Thigieverse. Anyone has any idea where I can find them?
  2. I find some of the comments surprising given the nature of this forum. Why complain that PJD did not build all the parts of the bike or built less parts than JJ? Why complain that PJD's bike can not be ridden cross country (as if the torture device constructed by JJ could be)? Do you shoot stages in "in the spirit of the intent" or according to WSB? And it is not even a given that any of these things were ever "in the spirit of the intent". Maybe they were in JJs mind, but I doubt the producers of the show would agree and they are the ones writing the "stage briefing". Furthermore, do all of the well regarded gunsmith's machine all the parts of the firearms from raw stock? Or do they modify and fit parts manufactured by someone else? Are they less craftsmen for that? Or are their products any less desirable? JJ built a nice looking bike. Not being a chopper guy I doubt I could pick it out from a row if bikes parked in front of a biker bar. Junior built something unique. In fact I do not think he has done two similar bikes since starting up his own shop. None of his bikes would ever get lost in a lineup even for the uninitiated eyes. And two of the three judges seemed to feel the same.
  3. Anything that comes to mind would get the thread closed.
  4. I agree Nick. The comment about getting tips to go faster was funny. But in the same situation, I would not try to change my technique. Recently I had something pointed to me before the match that I thought was a very sound advice. I still shot the match with no changes and then went home to practice the new technique. The way this thing is edited it is hard to be sure, but it seemed to me that both of the shooters were going pretty slow in the elimination challenge. Looked like you did not need to be a Dave Sevigny or JJ to pick up at least a couple of plates each time. Incredible mental freeze for Jermaine in the team challenge. Blue team will be glad to have Jay for the next challenge. After that I believe they will miss Jermaine.
  5. Unless things changed a great deal over the last decade, a couple of ropes, shoes, harness, a full rack with plenty of active cams and a few odds and ends is less than what I spend on ammo every year. As to the subject at hand, do we really need to rehash this discussion with all of the same arguments yet again? Production is one of the most popular divisions that we have. There is absolutely no reason to change it.
  6. Is 45" spring really needed? At 10" or even 15" longer than the magazine, wouldn't a 40" be sufficient?
  7. Should I cut the new spring to the same number of coils as the old one - given that it used to work. Or should I go longer - given that it stopped working? Is there consistency in Nordic's springs?
  8. I've had my M1 with a Nortic extension for about 2 years now. Never had any problems with it. All of a sudden this weekend it stopped feeding the last round. The shell comes out of the magazine but does not go all the way back onto the shell carrier. Instead it sits all the way forward on the shell carrier just out of the magazine. Tried it at home with dummy rounds and it was doing it on the last two shells. Perhaps the force of recoil gives a bit of an assist so it works a bit better in live fire. In any case I took out the magazine spring and stretched it out a bit. Now the everything works fine. But I am worried about how permanent the "fix" is and how long it will be before I am back to having issues. I have a couple of matches coming up including Ft. Benning. I would like to have some confidence in my gear going there. Does anyone have any experience with something like this?
  9. Thanks Brian. I'll start playing around with springs after I shoot Area 8.
  10. Thanks for the responses everyone. I will experiment with varous approaches and see where that gets me.
  11. I appreciate the advice and the offer and I will certainly try it, but it would seem that this is something I should be able to handle through technique and not via equipment.
  12. I am running a 13LB spring on a G-35 - shooting minor (around 135PF)
  13. Here is what I see when I am shooting - First sights lift up from the POA. Then they come back down and dip past the POA. Lift up a little higher than the POA and then finally settle on the POA. If I wait for the sights to completely settle I can effortlessly shoot a pretty tight group at 10 yards. But my splits are in .3-.35 range. If I try to go faster than that the group starts spreading vertically. What is the correct approach here? Should I: A. Strive to eliminate the "oscillation"? If so do I need to consciously adjust my grip/stance to do this or do I simply continue practicing and have my subconscious brain work it out with my body? B. Just go with it and learn to time my shots as the sights pass over the POA?

  15. You are right, but they should have at least spend 30 seconds explaining the difference between the two. As is it left me wondering where David managed to find surgical tubing before his fight with Goliath.

    LaRue Extras

Got some free stuff with an order from them a year or so ago. At first I was a little incredulous about the strangely unrelated stuff in the package. Since then I am almost done with my container of Dillo Dust. I also recently made great use of the paint mixer. Not to mention the fact that LaRue seems to be the only company out there that understands that shooters do not want those annoying buttons at the crown of their baseball caps.
  17. Never found the ghost ring sights to be a hindrance and on long range slug stages they work great. Got nothing against the nova either.
  18. I like the idea of the spinning wheel. Spin the wheel and have both contestants take one shot at the time of their choosing. You then have to choose - take the shot earlier while the wheel is spinning faster and chance missing or wait until the wheel is slower and take a chance that your opponent shoots the card that you want before you.
  19. Guys, Why are there complaints about poker? This was not poker and you did not have to be a poker player to succeed in that game. It required none of the skills of poker aside from the very basic knowledge of how to rank hands - and they provided a chart for that. The challenge was a lot more of a game of Tic-Tac-Toe than poker. It was a simple game of logic requiring no poker skill. As long as neither shooter missed, every round would have been a tie. A single miss would lead to a loss if played correctly. Andre could have won it in the first round though it required thinking a few moves ahead and not missing. He could have easily won it in the second round with a lot less thinking.
  20. Your free time is better spent dry firing instead of loading. Get a 650 and never look back.
  21. I started with a Lee turret moved up to a SDB and finally got a 1050. I actually still use all 3 presses. And am thinking of adding a 650. It may be a an unreasonable bias, but I think a progressive press should be auto-indexing so I would not consider a 550. It is not about speed but about reducing the possibility of double charges and squibs.
