If you like vintage bad scifi like I do, check out 'Frankenstein meets the Space Monster' (has nothing to do with THAT Frankenstein) and 'Robot Monster'. It just doesn't get any better (worse) than these. -

I tried to watch Sharktopus a couple weeks ago. Failed miserably! I just couldn't watch it. I like bad OLD scifi, so maybe I'll try again in 40 years. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD -
I wanted to keep the weight in the frame and out of the slide, so I'm sending my Caspian .40 to Freedom Gunworks for tri-topping. I'll be able to keep the steel FLGR that way, and the weight reduction will come off the reciprocating mass. Caspian frames are definite chunky. The trigger guards are THICK.

We're back on after missing last month! Who's ready to shoot?? I don't have the stages in hand yet so I don't know the classifier number. Round count is 160. Registration begins at 9am, shooting starts at 10:30am; cost is $20. http://www.parkmammothresort.us/ I'll post the classifier as soon as I find out what it is!

I feel ya brother. In 2006 I shot bowling pin matches like crazy with a .460 Rowland and a .454 Casull and wound up shooting all 2007 (including the SS Nats) with a brace on my right forearm. It sucks!

I can't say if the factory chamber will handle it, but your mags certainly won't. I have my Limited load for my Para here - .40 @ 1.175 OAL and they will go in my M&P 40 mags ok - tip right at the front wall of the tube - but they hang up down in the tube when flicking them out. Sorry.

Years ago when I first opened my gun store, a guy brought in a Hi-Point that was in dire need of cleaning. I had never seen one, and couldn't figure out how to strip it without knocking out roll pins. I called MKS Supply to ask about it and the lady on the phone said 'Oh, we don't recommend you disassemble it. I said 'So how are we supposed to clean it?' she said, 'Just lock the slide back and spray it out real good inside'. That was enough for me to know I would never buy, sell, or service them in my store.

HPJ's response was a bit tongue-in-cheek but I agree with it. The conditions allowed you to shoot the stage without over-thinking it. The rain was 'encouraging' you to move quickly and the rain-streaked, bagged targets forced you to be comfortable with your shots without second guessing yourself.

Yes. The Para mags all have the same exterior dimensions.

Sounds like you're getting it worked out though!

Production bump to Open: stuck declaring minor
Anopsis replied to twodownzero's topic in USPSA/IPSC Rules
THAT rule makes perfect sense. Allow Major PF, force them to use the same gun and sights. That negates the possibility of them switching to an Open gun, while not being overly heavy-handed. The chances of something like that being adopted are practically zero though. People are too resistant to change. -
Production bump to Open: stuck declaring minor
Anopsis replied to twodownzero's topic in USPSA/IPSC Rules
I agree that things work well enough as they are, but for the sake of discussion: PF isn't 'declared' in Production; Minor is a condition, a requirement of the division, just as mag capacity and holster style is. Is it really right to say "We're bumping you to Open and you no longer have to comply with Production division restrictions, except for this one". I still don't get why it's ok to retain some division-imposed constraints while effectively freeing the shooter from others. For the ones who say 'the shooter made his choice; he declared his PF by choosing to shoot Production', well, the shooter ALSO 'declared' he would load no more than 10 in a mag, but after bumping to Open he's no longer expected to continue with that. It just seems rather arbitrary to me. -
Production bump to Open: stuck declaring minor
Anopsis replied to twodownzero's topic in USPSA/IPSC Rules
The way I'm taking this is that the shooter, once bumped to Open, still has to abide by Production rules instead of the new division? If he still _has_ to be scored Minor, then why is he allowed to load mags to capacity? Regardless of why he's been bumped, the fact is that -officially- he's now shooting Open. I guess my problem with forcing the shooter to retain Minor scoring after reclassification is that it is selectively requiring them to still adhere to a Production division requirement. As for the shooter changing equipment and winning Open, someone asked where's the penalty in that? The penalty is that the shooter was TRYING to win/compete in Production, and that was taken away from them for their infraction. -
Eliminate divisions from classification system?
Anopsis replied to sperman's topic in USPSA/IPSC Shooting
Forgot to add, I'm a D in SS because of gun problems at the SSC which is where I obtained my initial SS classification. I know I'm not a D shooter, and I'm shooting a level II SS match in September, so I've gone back to shooting SS and making sure I'm a C before that match (already done, just waiting for the classification updates). I really WOULD rather have a mid-pack finish in my proper classification than a top finish in a group I don't belong in.
