  1. This thread might help. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=69296&hl=different+sight
  2. That is not glocked 9mm brass. That is 9mm shot from a major open gun that the chamber has been opened a little to make the feeding more reliable. Toss it or get a U die. It should load fine to minor pf after being properly sized in a U die. It looks like your resizing die isn't adjusted properly too. It should be able to resize lower than that even if it's a Dillon or RCBS or Lee. With the shell plate full (resizing spot open) and all the other dies adjusted properly, screw the resizer down till it stops against the shell plate. Then back it off to where you can see it's not touching (or just barely touching the shell plate).
  3. Stick with one gun, and shoot it till it melts. Switching guns is easier (but still causes problems) for the higher level shooters, but wreaks havoc on the lower level shooters. I switch way more than I should due to lack of money and time, and every time I switch platforms, I pay for it mentally and in my scores.
  4. What conflict would require Flex to recuse himself? Not being confrontational here, just thought about it for a few days and I couldn't come up with a logical conflict between Area 5 director and BE admin. The closest I could come up with was time constraints, too many irons in the fire; work, shooting, local club MD, Area 5 duties, BE admin, family, work... Then again, Type A's aren't in their element unless their plate is full.
  5. Glenn is currently in Falcon, CO and will be leaving to Area 3 on Friday. I would wait till after Area 3 is over and then try to get a hold of him. I think he's planning on staying around CO until after the CO state match the third weekend of Aug. It's not my week to watch him, but I ran into him at the range yesterday. If you can't get in contact with him next week, PM me and I'll help out. I have something better than his cell. I have his fiance's cell
  6. S&B and GFL are culled, with malice.
  7. That's funny right there. I may have to print that out and put it up on the bench downstairs.
  8. It's the crack version of shooting sports. Two words, progressive reloader. Life is good.
  9. I'm throwing a BBQ when I make M.
  10. Clays, International Clays, and Universal Clays are not the same powders. I've used both and Clays can be touchy at standard overall lengths. Universal Clays on the other hand is pretty safe stuff in that caliber. I was loading a 180gr zero JHP, 4.7gr of UC, 1.135 OAL. This was for a Glock, so the OAL was shorter than most loading for an STI, SVI, etc. What bullets do you have to currently load with?
  11. I visually inspect while sorting my brass for cleaning. I visually inspect while separating my brass from the media. I visually inspect before loading brass into my reloader. I've had two get through over the years.
  12. The STI trigger is easier and quicker to shoot with, IMO, but the above was discussed quite a bit about limited guns way back when. Then this guy named Sevigny came along...
  13. I've had a unique experience while shooting USPSA as I've lived in both the Eastern CO front range of Area 2 and the VA/MD/PA part of Area 8. They both have very different match procedures. CO ranges do set-up the morning of the match, sign-ups as the shooters arrive, shooters meeting around 9 or 10 am, and tear down after the match. CO squads are usually 12-20 shooters. The Area 8 clubs usually set up the day or weekend prior and leave their up till the match, shooters sign up prior to the match via email, shooter's meeting at 8 am, and squads are 8-10 people. Big Area 8 club matches have a morning and then an afternoon starting time, so they run twice the people. York, PA and Fredricksburg, VA are the two I know that do/have done this. The key, IMO is if you can set up the day or weekend prior and leave the stages up. This is a huge no-no at a lot of clubs. For others, they can accomidate this. It ultimately dictates how early you can start, and if you can run a second group of shooters in the afternoon. 70 shooters can be run in a single wave pretty effectively. You start seeing 90-110 shooters every club match and you might want to start trying to do some time saving measures like doing sign-up via email and setting up the night before if possible. Lastly, capping the match to your maximum capabilities is something to think about when the majority of shooters are upset about how long the match takes. Like Monster said, Aurora here in CO runs 70 shooters with 4 squads twice a month. It can get drawn out sometimes, but for the most part, we enjoy each other's company. It beats being at home pulling weeds in the back yard. When you see shooters preferring to pull weeds, then I would say you have to address the problem.
  14. Lee, not trying to pick on you here, but ultimately everyone is responsible for their actions. The RO is responsible for their actions, and someone with a loaded gun is definately responsible for their action, especially with a loaded gun. If I have a shooter who wants to ULASC and then MR at the next stage or string, fine with me. Most shooters are comfortable enough to load for the next string or stage and move around with a loaded firearm in their holster. Thousands of shooters deal with this issue every weekend without getting confused because we don't have a standardized range command for this. I see no reason to standardize a range command for this. I would recommend each RO think about this though and come up with something that fits and stick with it consistantly. It help when you have to deviate from the normal and address the unique. So far from this thread, I really like "If finsished, make ready for your next string/stage," and plan on using it consistantly in the future. It asks the shooter if they are done shooting, and if so, prepare appropriately for the next string of fire or stage (if appropriate).
  15. Troy, what do you think about RVB's suggestion about getting rid of the rule about activation in leu of additional rules? Do you see pitfalls in the suggestion?
  16. What matters in these two examples are the results. Shooting one handed and dropping points definately reflects in the results. Shooting through the gap of the doorframe and barrel doesn't appear to have had an excessively positive result either. Both stage three and four were points stages. Get your A's, burn a little extra time, come out on top.
  17. I have some on Youtube also. Just do a search for SAFriday.
  18. I could get 20 in all my mags, but they were hell to hit a fast reload with. I had to smash it into the gun. 19 and they clicked home fine. I agree, the follower is the key to the puzzle. I also used the Wolf +10% springs and arredondo extensions. Played around a little with a friends Taylor Freelance extended mags and found the same was true with them too. 20+1 at the start and reload to a 19. In the two years I ran my G24, I think I only ran into a handful of stages the extra round or two would have made a significant difference. So, I stayed with the reliability instead of tinkering and having to deal with the possibility of the mag puking out on me.
  19. I found it very unfortunate that Tara had to leave the show. She, more than some of the others cast to the show, had the skills to be there. JJ is still the 300 lb gorilla in the room, Denny still sucked, and Kelly still impressed. If they would have used a sling instead of a sling shot, they would have had to tape for at least a whole day and the challange would have been to see who actually hit something first. It looked like a compromise between historical and feasible to me.
  20. I've pretty much used "If finished, load for your next string". Once in position for the next string and the shooter is settled into the starting position, I restart with "are you ready" etc etc. I never really thought much about it, as the above has worked very well over the years. I suppose exchanging 'load' for 'make ready' would be a more correct version now that 'LAMR' is just 'MR', but even now it still seems to to be clear to even to newer shooters. On occasion, I have said to a shooter, 'check it if you need to' once in position for the next string, but that is usually because I've seen they left the lock on from one position to another. If they choose to not check it, well, I didn't coach them and they didn't hear me.
  21. Change all the springs in the gun while you are at it.
  22. It reads: 9mm, 59.46gr PER ea, 117.7cases PER pound, 8.5 pounds PER 1000.
  23. Nick, you've already shot at Weld in CO, and that's the closest club to Cheyenne. For all intents and purpose, you will be a part of CO's ECOUSPSA as all of the WY clubs are on the other side of the mountains an in the opposite corner.
  24. You are grabbing the reload mag very different than I've ever seen anyone do it before. It's like you're cupping the bottom and bringing it to the gun's magwell like it's sticking out of your palm. I think eventually this technique might hinder speeding up your reload at some time in your progression. You seem to do it very well, but it's quite a step from the ordinary. With this holding technique, I think it's going to make it difficult to speed up your hand from the gun to the mag and get a grip on it in a manner where it will present to the magwell without problematic angles. Like I said, I've never seen it before so it's hard for me to tell.
