  1. Looking for impressions on the Korth NXS 6" 357/9MM revolver offered by Nighthawk Customs from people that have handled or tested them. Mostly thinking of using it for ICORE. Thanks.
  2. Thinking back, I actually noticed my rounds were getting longer when I put them in my Shockbottle Case Gauge. I bought the one with the tray underneath it so that the round will protrude from the gauge when it's too long. I gauge every round and for me it's a way I use to count the rounds I've loaded. Another ding for removing the spring in the micrometer bullet seater. I was getting inconsistent lengths and called Redding and they told me to remove the spring. Since I did I've had very good results.
  3. I had the same thing happened to me with the seating die but I was lucky enough to notice it when it only got to 1.170" from 1.160". I tend to check my loads more often. I also had the flare die move as well. I load a bit differently than most people. I process my brass after wet tumble and rollsize. After that I size, prime and flare and put aside until I'm ready to load with powder and bullet. When loading one time I notices the bullets weren't falling into the case and when I checked the flareing die I noticed the lock ring had loosened and the expander had backed out. I had to redo a bunch of cases I had prepped. Now I check them often as I run them through. I use a Lee U die to size so I never had the issue you're having with the resizing die.
  4. Well, looks like I'll be buying another one.
  5. Thanks for the input folks, keep it coming. I've been looking into the info offered and still haven't come up with anything. The Mech-Tech won't get by the NY laws, as stated...stupid laws. Also, they only offer for 1911 mags. No response yet from Nordic. There must be an option out there somewhere.
  6. I recently had an issue with a pistol having failure to extract. Eventually adjusted the extractor where it ran perfectly but the process of shaking the slide and bending the extractor until the case stuck in seemed kind of like guessing to me even though it worked. I found this tool and this to go with it. I just got it and haven't had a chance to try it out yet but it seems like a good combination to take some trial-and-error/guess work out of adjusting an extractor. Here's a neat video on how it works. I'm a sucker for having cool tools so I had to buy this and can't wait to try it out.
  7. Does anyone know if there is such an animal or if there is anyone that would build a PCC chambered in 9mm that would take 2011 magazines, more specifically, Atlas mags? To complicate matters, it needs to be New York State compatible. Yea, I know, looking for that Unicorn but just wanted to ask. Thanks.
  8. Perfect, thanks! I was looking in the Divisions rather than the Course of Fire. I need to read through all of the rules the again.
  9. Please go easy on my folks! Is it legal to pin grip safeties in Limited Optics in USPSA? I hear that people are doing it but I want to see it in the rules whether or not it's allowed. I've searched the forums and web and read the USPSA rules and can't seem to find a definitive answer. In CO rules at 22.1 it looks like it's not legal and in LO rules there isn't any mention of it. Help me out. Thanks.
  10. I got back into shooting about six years ago and started with 1911's and always loved the simplicity and easy trigger. Then about three years ago I bought into a striker fired gun to shoot IDPA and USPSA and enjoyed it but still missed the 1911 trigger. This year I figured at my age (68) it's time to enjoy this hobby to the fullest while I can (arthritis setting in) and with USPSA implementing Limited Optics bought an Atlas Titan and Artemis. Every time I shoot either one of them I like them even more. People can bash me for being a C class shooter (59.4%) and spending so much money on guns but I don't care because I'm enjoying myself and my money the way I want to. So, to the topic. When I got back into 1911's I bought a cheap Remington R1 to use as a learning tool and learned a lot about tuning a 1911. I made mistakes but learned from them and moved on. Since then I've made a couple more really nice shooting guns. So now I'm back with 2011s and want to get to know them internally and looking for a good gun to start with and found this thread and now I'm looking to buy a 5" Prodigy to take apart and put back together as a fine tuned shooter. I just feel that if you don't know your equipment inside and out you're just going through the motions...but that's just me. I might just use it for local IDPA matches. So, thanks for the thread...I think! Looking to buy the Prodigy but not sure how that's going to go since it doesn't look like it's available with a restricted magazine yet, I live in New York. I need to look into that more. Happy Holidays folks!
  11. I did this once but only with a one pound bottle so I didn't even try to separate it. When I went to my local gun shop to buy more I mentioned to the owner what I did. He told me a Sheriff Deputy was just in and asking if he had any powder he could have to train his K9 to sniff explosives. I drove home and got it and brought it back and gladly handed it over. It took a little sting out of the loss knowing it did someone some good. In the future if anything like this happens again I'll contact local ant state police and offer it to them before I destroy it.
  12. Is this the one you purchased? https://www.ebay.com/itm/235000087529?hash=item36b718c3e9:g:ZnEAAOSwSbhgLBe8&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA8AAau96psnmI%2FnOYwC4hc9QSDTrMMsv6CsSRu%2FILWOVsGy%2FTNaTRICax4Ojc%2BLlddyaDUcOhbS6LKYfMBXk0%2BzBeiCoMECMDbgjE24TGAfEdPMmFplG5e%2BlKWuIkwUKj40Q9duYpAAECIpDgA1RnQgursSQRdYmYUQKTVrlfVSetfiw223KHiJxp%2FD9v7uX%2Fm6LiGte3Gi6YAhe7xnCsA3p0884q6KDo6ebZJvq697pWRcPZG8Akbl9HuwG4TnDicPmW3QU%2FZ1UpmM7JyKfuY5qdDvhiRgPNekrVQk%2BKSC3ENT98oscBAfOXLzvgn6EVeQ%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR_KClI2LYw
  13. I want to get a case feeder for my Hornady Lock N Load press. I was looking at some 3D printed versions that are hundreds less than the actual Hornady motorized unit. I really don't want or need the motorized feeder or the cost. I'm wondering if anyone here has bought into one of these kits and if they would recommend any. Thanks.
  14. Yea, I thought between their price drop and firmware update LabRadar figured they better get their act together or Garmin will as you say...eat their lunch. Heck, if I was looking now I'd probably go with the Garmin because of portability for one thing. It's going to be interesting to see what the major matches will be using. Since they already mostly use LabRadar I'm guessing most will stick with them.
  15. I always had problems trying to connect with Bluetooth so just used the SD card. I just installed the update and it connects fine now. Now just need to see it it'll connect at the range. You know how that goes.
  16. I reload on a Lock N Load and started to prep my 9MM brass a while ago and like doing it that way better. Of course, I'm retired and have enough time to do it the way I like to. For range pic brass I start with a one hour dry tumble to get the dirt off. Then deprime on a Lee APP. Any primers that push out hard are usually swaged and I just discard them and forget about swaging primer pockets. Then I wet tumble and rollsize and set on a shelf, usually in batches of about 1000. Then when I start to load I spray a mixture of lanolin oil and alcohol in a zip lock bag and roll it around and size with a Lee U die, prime and flare. When I do it this way I can feel things better for instance, if it sizes super easy it's probably a cracked casing and it gets tossed. If it starts to prime hard it's probably a staked primer pocket so it get's discarded. Then I put them on a shelf and their ready to load, again, 1000 at a time so that's one case of primers. When I load I generally only like to load 500 at a time but have another 500 already loaded and ready just to have enough on hand. I don't like to load more than that because I might want to change something in my load for some reason. When I load I powder drop, powder check with a AA powder check, bullet feed, seat and then crimp. Yea, it's the long way to get it done but I feel more confident when I'm done.
  17. So, ain't this a kick in the a$$! Labradar (buymylabradar.com) https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1016447132?pid=523157
  18. I did a search and the only results that came up are 20 years old. I'm looking to buy a bore sighter for my 9MM to sight in a red dot and I'm looking for recommendations from people that have used them. I see some on Amazon but tend to stay away from them because it seems their inexpensive merchandise usually is junk. One that looks interesting is the Laserlyte. Is it worth it to spend this much on one or just get it close with a more in expensive one and fine tune it at the range? Looking for ideas...thanks!
  19. I have another after market trigger and hammer installedin my 929 and really didn't feel a difference from the cleaned up OEM components. The only advantage I can see is that you're replacing MIM parts with hardened steel parts if that really matters. Not sure I'd do it again for the ~$300.
  20. I had the same problem so now I use a Lee 91180 die to apply a slight roll crimp. It's a 9mm Makarov seat and crimp die but I remove the seater and seat with a Redding seat die. I called Lee twice and they told me they don't have a 9mm die that applies a roll crimp, but talking to people at a range found that this die does. I use a Precision Delta RN FMJ 124gn bullet with 3.7gns of Clay's powder. I use a FMJ bullet because the roll crimp will break into a coated bullets coating which is something they advise against doing. I've shot twelve local matches without problems so I plan on using this process moving forward.
  21. I've had an issue with squids and bought one of these haven't had any since. Plain and simple!
  22. I've thought about that but not sure it's allowed in USPSA LO. I'll check on it.
  23. I do have an Atlas and really like it but it does not lock back on an empty magazine. Looking a little further I found this Video and in the comments a person stated that they purchased an Eemann and it does not lock back on an empty magazine. Back to the drawing board. IDPA rules (the best I can understand them) state that when engaging targets in the open you must empty and go to slidelock before reloading or it's a PE so this fits the "when required" category. I'm getting pretty fed up with IDPA rules and will probably let my membership lapse when it's time for renewal.
  24. Thanks for this info whan. While the Odin is larger than I had in mind the Eemann looks like a possibility. I missed the part in their description that suggests it will lock back when required.
