  1. I'm stunned. My prayer go out to Vickie and his family... wow... He was a good one...
  2. I guess you missed my post and if I'm not mistaken, Trapr's original post was about what happend with me at Ft. Benning (or it's a coincidence)... Saigas are basically crappy guns and offer problems you can find nowhere else, BUT it's pretty hard to beat that 10-20 round mag option...
  3. One thing to add, if you can not legally leave your firearms behind, you will not be penalized. I use a CAV-16 (M-16 type gun) and while I leave the upper, the lower stays with me as per NFA rules. The same would apply to a SBR/AOW or possibly duty weapons.
  4. I had something happen that looked like this (I re-created it with a spent shell): Not a great picture, but the front of the shell is impaled on what looks like the barrel extension (this is all above the bolt). Impossible to engage the safety and at the time it happened I couldn't clear it without tools. This is where tactical training kind of screwed me, my thoughts were that the gun CAN NOT fire/load in that condition, it's going into a tube in the ground...FIGHT THROUGH IT! I had almost finished the stage when they told me to stop, I was DQ'd. I've been shooting matches for almost 20 years, I should have pulled out the benchmade and dug that sucker out or pretended I was a top shooter and demanded a re-shoot At our match, it would have been a non-issue at best or at worst a stage DQ. I'm not happy I was DQ'd, but I can't complain about the call the staff made. I did in fact leave a live round in the gun with the safety off.
  5. Er...ok The clear mags make you shoot faster somehow? Well I guess there might be something to the use of PC in guns if they make you shoot faster/straighter :-) I stand corrected, disregard the fact that all of the products used to clean/lube firearms will destroy PC, People like to buy clear mags, so disregard my past few posts, I didn't know what I was saying.
  6. Greg, I do not make or sell any magazines or have any relationship with either company and honestly wish them both all the success in the world...but... I hear Hydrogen will float an air ship as good or better then helium. With that said, I don't own any airships, but if I was going to get one, I would generally avoid the Hydrogen models... Is this unfair of me? I only know what I know from working with plastics for 20 years and as I said before, buy which ever one you like best and got nuts with it.
  7. The clear mags will last much longer than the black. AGP stopped making them because the polycarbonate material shrinks to the molds and breaks the pins off during the manufacturing process and the material is 12% more expensive to buy. I have sold 4-5000 AGP's with 100-200 black mags being return because they broke. We had Zero Clear mag problems. It is exactly the same with the Surefires. Besides they look cool. Greg Greg, I don't sell mags, I have just been making things out of plastic for most of my life :-) PC is a better material than Nylon (as long as it's a UV stabilized PC), unless it comes in contact with fluorocarbons. If is does, it will be attacked and broken down at the molecular level and fail 100% of the time. So with this scientific fact in mind, knock yourselves out and use whatever you like.
  8. just an FYI, but "Gunstock" is a trade marked name by the folks at AR15.COM
  9. rucksack, rifle case, drop leg holster and a vest... if I can't carry it I don't need it...
  10. I hear Dave Lauck's tears cure cancer, too bad he's never cried.....
  11. Well all of my "guns" we designed and built with killing either people or animals in mind (Glocks, 1911s, Cz-75, etc.). If you are uncomfortable with shooting at vaguely humanoid shaped targets, maybe "Air Soft" is more the game for you. But then again, I’m one of those crazy people who actually carry a gun on me all the time.
  12. Not too bad, I made all my hits...I also always help tape after one of my "runs".....
  13. Well I do, but I'm a jerk... http://www.cavalryarms.com/vids/M60.wmv and this.... http://www.cavalryarms.com/vids/garryowen-1A.wmv
  14. A few teaser pics until SinistralRifleman gets the gallery up:
  15. Exactly, these idjits in Cammo pants and hats (mostly IPSC/USPSA people) with their crazy guns (again mostly IPSC/USPSA people) need to go...That's why we shoot in YELLOW shirts, NEVER wear any camo and don't shoot in ANY Military issue gear. I also like to put stickers on my guns to keep the whole thing lite and fun. I do wear armor when I shoot, but that is just because I don't trust you people.... Bevin, why don't you worry about how FUBAR'ed California has become for gun owners, the whole "lets not draw attention" and keeping it PC stuff has worked so well for you guys.
  16. Very true, any of us that have shot a Glock Match know, you do not start from a holster, but from a low-ready. I am ok with different matches haveing different formats and slightly different rules. Almost every match I have ever been to follows the same set of core saftey rules (finger off trigger, 180, cold range, etc.). The fact I can go to different matches and do different things is what keep me in the sport. The fact we are "playing" with implements of death and destruction is what brings 99% of us to the table, other wise we would just play bad-mitten or go bowling (and save ourselves alot of time and money). I am ok wil hot -re-holstering, because at every match I have ever shot (USPSA) I start with a hot re-holster (think about it) and anyone who is so worried about being fast and/or winning that they cannot slow down that fraction of a second to put their loaded gun back in the holster they pulled the same loaded gun out of... well they are incompotent and should find a new hobby. Just my $0.02, YMMV
  17. Not true... The new Blackhawk holster is released my using your trigger finger to depress and thus disengage the retention. In classes (thankfully using air-soft) where close engagements (force on force) were being taught/practiced, several students (under stress) pulled trigger on their Glocks while drawing the pistol. Again, there were not first time shooters and some were even LEO's. The common denominator was they were not used to the new holster. As far as Shotguns go, I enjoy shooting the shotgun and even if it becomes an optional weapon, I'll shoot mine, BUT I like the idea of it being your gun fight and being able to engage it as you see fit at a match.
  18. being so worried about AD/ND's and hot re-holstering.... Maybe we shouldn't use real guns at all then, maybe AIr-Soft is the answer... I'm not trying to start anything, but there is NO WAY to make this 100% "fool-proof" and still use real guns. This is why we have RO's and make un-safe people leave the range when they cross that line.
  19. I just got the E-Mail from USPSA today that my membership has expired and to re-new... I am not only NOT going to re-new my membership, but I will also no, longer sponsor USPSA matches (with the exception of SOME of the 3-gun matches). Over the years I have donated over $50K to USPSA matches and the one time I asked them for a favor (putting a notice in Front Sight for my match), I got no help (even though I was told they would). The types/forms of shooting/competing they do don’t reflect my customer base or my personal tastes. They are still using rules that were based off of shooting wheel guns and Single stacks back in the 1970’s and some of the open shooters treat their firearms as if they were Golf Clubs. I actually can’t remember the last time I shot a USPSA match (pistol or 3-gun), so I am firmly in the “Out Law” camp on this one.
