  1. you only droped part of the gun...you still hand the rest hanging off the sling
  2. No, it's not...this is from the link I provided above... I didn’t think it was unreasonable to ask people to control their muzzles at this match and being that everyone except on man was able to do so, I don’t think I made a bad call. The only person who did this was the one man at the match who has the most experience shooting and should know better. When I asked him about damaging the dummy, he didn’t deny it, when I presented him with the damaged coveralls (as in they are his now) and a bill, he happily paid it. He didn’t say anything about it seeming steep or offer to instead replace the coveralls with a new set (which would have been fine) or maybe trade some gunsmithing for the coveralls…nothing, just his patented smile and $100 in cash. At the MGM match, you hole a steel target, you have to buy it (I know, I’ve seen it happen) and at the Mystery Mt. match (the largest 3-gun match in the world) if you shoot a prop, you get a stage DQ and depending on the damage, you may also have to pay for it. If anyone has a new (or like new) set of the above spec'd CVC Coveralls, I'll gladly pay $100.00 for them (but I will need a recipt). Most of you who think I'm being a jerk were not a last years match and were not at this years match. If this incident is going to keep you (as well as the guys from Corpus) away next year, well I am sorry to hear it, you'll be missing a fun shoot. I tried to be fair with every one (hell I even personaly ran the guy from Corpus threw the stage in question AFTER he was DQ'd because he wanted to make sure his gear worked before the nationals) we also let the 2 match DQ's pulll prizes off the table. The rules were put out well in advance of the match, again gone over at the shooters brief and then again before the stage. What more can I do? Should I just say "Just Kidding" when someone breaks the rules? Should I have ignored them if it's someone well known/liked? My contact info is posted above if anyone would like to further discuss this with me (or my staff).
  3. It's good Benny posted his side on the net while I was on the road (I headed into a truck stop net-room after getting a call from Scott M about this to get this post out, I’m still out of town). Now I see that not only is there a Dog Pile on me, but no one even seems interested in the rest of the story. It was put out at the beginning of the match that if you shoot a prop, you bought it. I specifically mentioned to the shooters to make sure not to shoot the dummy or damage it with a comp. I’m sorry that I was so “stupid” as to use a real set of CVC (combat Vehicle Crewman’s) gear on the dummy we used on the tank stage. I thought it would be cool and that having grown men NOT SHOOT IT wouldn’t be to hard a request. Benny was the most experienced shooter at the entire match and was the ONLY ONE to damage a prop (The “$30 Clay Holder” was whacked with a hammer until it was straight and all was well, if Mell paid anyone any money, I want to know who it was so I can get it back and return it to him). When I confronted Benny on the matter, he didn't deny he did it and he didn't say a damn thing about the bill. He just gave me his patented Smile and handed me the $100. Nothing else, he didn’t say it seamed steep or mention anything about maybe replacing it (which would have also worked). Maybe $100 was high, I don’t know, that set of coveralls wasn’t mine, it was loaned to me (brand new) from a friend of mine still in the Army, I was planning to replace it with one I found on this web site http://www.militarysupplyhouse.com/priceli...lepricelist.htm (I know that are cheaper on Ebay, but I refuse to use Ebay as they are anti-gun) they list used for $50 and new for $100 (size Med Reg, bigger sizes cost more). I don't get any kind of "good guy" discounts from anyone one who sells this stuff. I’m sorry if I upset anyone with my having the audacity to actually hold someone accountable for their actions. Please feel free to complain about me to my face.. Shawn M. Nealon CEO Cavalry Arms Corp 723 W. 4. If there will be only one class...it would have to be "Trooper" and we might very well do that for 2006
  5. KellyN....I got one thing to say to you...RAT MEAT! If you want to keep a nice distinction to Open/Tactical...Make people shooting Tactical wear Armor and tac-gear (I do and let me tell you, the way the SAPI plate cuts into my kidney feels GREAT!). Religious Shooter... As far as shooting in open class with limited guns.. OK, I do it all the time. Some of you people need to stop getting your panties so wound up with all these nit-picky rules and just SHOOT! Hell most of the time I show up and just have the person at sign in tell me where what I brought/wore puts me and a lot of times it puts me in open. Why the fear of a hot pistol? if the match is set up with that in mind, it's no worries. Someone puts a round into their leg because they have a un-safe gun (2lbs. trigger), good for them, hope they get the hell out of the gene pool. Round limitations… This has always struck me a dumb. Higher-cap rifle mags generally are just crap. If someone wants to try and juice that little edge at the risk of their gun crapping the bed, let them. Also, if a guy wants to run a 26” shotguns barrel with a mag-tube that is just as long, fine, put in stages that require then to crawl through a barrel or navigate a hall. If they can do it without stabbing themselves in the face with their mega-mag-tube, well good for them, they are the victory. If a guy wants to use G-18 mags (32 rnd) in his gun, so what? I get my ass whipped by Dino-Riders shooting 8rnd 1911’s all the time, letting a guy suck with more bullets doesn’t make him, suck any less. This is just how I see it, but then again, I’m the kind of guy who shoots 3-gun matches with a Bren while wearing a kilt….
  6. Russell and Brad are on their way, should be there late tomarrow afternoon...Someone keep and eye on them for me...they tend to get into mischief...
  7. Hey, you're the guy who looks like "The Borg" when he shoots with all the wires, cameras and batteries coming off you… The future of Open Class (and Matt's video #1000 "Cybernetic Shooting and You")
  8. So if a fella's USPSA card has a letter on it that isn't "G" or "M" and he's been doing it for more then a year, he’s an "Idiot"? Besides Matt, I actually do win in Trooper class (well 2nd place anyways)
  9. Man up Sally.... Chicks dig scars and pain is only weakness leaving your body...
  10. So if a LE types shows up with Standard Cap mags, can they use them? 3-Gun in California is like Euro Disney in France...nice idea, but why? I don’t think we’ll be there, hard for me to spend time/money in a state that wants to see me out of business and has deemed all my products to be illegal… Best of luck
  11. We just faxed in our thing in for match sponsor ($6000)...so there will be plenty of Cav Arms stuff to be had (even those receivers Benny Hill dislikes so much)
  12. It's ok Benny...she's just got really big hands for a little girl That's Sammi Calder...she and her dad (second picture) shot the match too...
  13. We are going to make sure these things are addressed next year or we will not be there. Again I am sorry for the troubles the match had this year...
  14. Folks... Everyone but 4 shooters got to see their 300 yard Target (and unfortunatly Matt was one of them)...The rotation from the pits was that after you shot, you went to the pits, pulled your target and put up a new one... The last firing order only had 4 people and they did not have to go down into the pits. As far as the scoring being FUBAR... yes, it was, but the way it worked out, a missed target was +20....seems kind of stiff, but wouldn't missing a hostile target possable carry a stiff penalty in real life?
  15. No, we are not throwing out Stage 1 (Matt would have still come in 3rd) and the penalties were applied equally. As I stated, this is as good as it's gonna get for this year. Next year we will use standard scoring (no matter what we are told)
  16. Almost forgot... We did not get/recieve any of the entry fee's or entry forms (actually never even saw them), so if you are owed any kind of refund for the side match or anything like that, you need to contact Tiger Valley (www.tigervalley.com). If you are on the abovce list above (even if you didn't finish the match) and did not get your CAV-15 lower reciever, please send us a FFL and your info and we'll get one mailed out to you ASAP...
  17. The Match….where to begin… Well for starters I should start with an apology to everyone who showed up. This match started out as Tiger Valley’s match and we were just the major sponsors, well things came up with Tiger Valley that put the match in jeopardy of being called off or falling to us to take over. I figured it couldn’t be that hard, so off we went with a little over a month before the match was scheduled. I went into this match with a lot of Ignorance and plain old naiveté. I have helped with a lot of matches (big ones even), so when it came time to set up stages and pound in stakes, I think I did pretty good, but I have never had to deal with all the little details that you never see in a match (at least one that is well run). The scoring was for a lack of a better word was “f*#ked”. We (meaning “I”) put people in charge of things they were not ready to handle on their own and when it started to look “hinky”, instead of pulling the plug, I figured it would work itself out. Down deep I knew better, but to be frank, I was too overwhelmed to make the right decisions. We where never very happy with the scoring system and when it became our match we tried to change a lot of things into more of a “normal” format. The fellow with the scoring program told us that we had to keep certain elements of it or else the scoring program would not work. One of these elements was the penalties. Again when things started to look goofy I should have said “NO” and used a spreadsheet to track the scores (as I ended up doing anyways). I have taken all of the white score sheets and manually entered them into excel and used it to come up with what is as close to a true outcome as we are going to ever get out of this years match. Some of the scores shocked me and I called people I knew who shot with some of the people in question to verify the results. A lot of shooters are not used to having to transition between guns during a course of fire and also retaing a “hot” pistol with a “Race Holster” was a process that I know cost some shooters time. This match was set up with stages that the Cav Arms staff thought would be cool and what we have talked about with some fellow shooters, but given how we shoot, we paid very little attention laying out the stages in a “traditional” manner. Also the classes we came up with were “odd”. Again, the match was made for “Trooper” class and the other 2 classes where put on as an after thought. Next year we plan to do more with the Trooper class and will add a Tactical Scope class. Some people did not like the manner in which prizes were awarded. The random system we used is one we ran by all of our sponsors and to be honest they all thought it was a great idea. Also with how the scoring was FUBAR, if we had done it any other way, we would have been in BIG TROUBLE. Next year we will again use this method, but will most likely add some sort of cash pay-back to the top shooters. The match staff (and especially the RO’s) I think did a great job all things considered and most of the shooters where very understanding and helpful. I will say this, next year any shooter who throws a tantrum (or their gear) will be given a penalty for “Un-sportsmanlike Conduct” or just asked to go home. This behavior is not only childish, but also potentially unsafe. On that note I would also like to apologies for my conduct. I am a very sarcastic person and most people find me funny, but with the stress of a match sliding down hill with foul weather and bizarre scoring, some of my jokes might not have been received in the manner they were intended and for that I an truly sorry if I rubbed anyone the wrong way. As of right now, we are not sure who will “own” the match next year (Tiger Valley or Cav Arms), but I have spoken with the owner of Tiger Valley and we are sure of this, it will be on again next year and we hope for it to be bigger and better. The Texas State 3-Gun folks have offered to help us out next year (as well as some other locals), we also read all the comment cards and will use them as our guide to make this a match everyone will enjoy. **Note...due to weather, Stage 2 was thrown out. 18. Guys, Here is the ugly truth about this match. It’s our first match and surprise surprise, there is a lot more to it then we thought. We have some very challenging (and I think very fun) stages (9 of them) and we are trying to keep them realistic as well and lots of shooting. To make up for quirks we have this first year, we are basically paying you to come. Every paid shooter will get a minimum of $175.00 worth of prizes from $20,000.00 worth of stuff on the prize table, so for a $150.00 entree, that ain’t bad… This first year (as with any match) is a work in progress, but we hope to make it into a match people will talk about and add to there shooting calendars every year.
