  1. Hi All, My son, 13, has been going to practice and a few IDPA matches with me and the Air Soft / BB gun is just not enough. He doesn't like the recoil of my SPO1 and i am looking as cost effective options for him to move to the next level. Just looking at option of a P09 with a Kadet Kit, looks very good, that way after he moves past the 22, he can swap the 9 mill slide back on and go. Then we can continue to use the 22 to keep costs down for practice and to introduce new shooters into the fold. I am wondering if the P09 / Kadet Kit combo is reliable? I have heard poor feed back and there are just not enough reviews out there to make a good decision. If not this what else could we look into? Would it be better to go into a 75 and that Kadet Kit? Cost and reliability are the top considerations, but i would spend more if the value is there.
  2. Then that completely makes sense. Thanks for that!!
  3. After looking at the CZC website (and I do ALL the time, cuz I'm a dork) a tuned shadow is a little less. is the additional cost the adjustable sights?
  4. This gun is some what confusing to me. It is not an Accu-Shadow (they cost a little more), and it is not a Shadow that has been that has been CZC tuned (those are a little less). What is it?? What sets it apart form the other variants out there?
  5. I thought that this could be done! Before jumping into the S2 i have been debating about just working up my SP01 due to shooting in USPSA and IDPA, and I would do that but i have short thumbs and cant reach the mag release in the SP01 with out shifting my grip. on the Shadow 2 I can reach the mag release and that will be a good time savings. It would be great to see the brake down of what it took to get it done, bullet point style. Again, Great work!!
  6. MecGar for sure. The reason for the 17 round is the base pads - for base pad extensions that meet the 140mm limit for USPSA carry optics and limited class there are a few companies that have +2, +4 base pad extensions. The extensions will work on the stock SP01 18 round, but it falls out of the 140mm size, unless you find a base pad extension for the 18 round. I think CZ Custom The MecGar are a great price also!! https://grabagun.com/mec-gar-usa-inc-cz7517afc-mag-cz75b-9m-17r-afc.html?source=igodigital
  7. what grips have you tried so far?

    Accu Shadow 2 for CO?

WOW, you had to take a bunch out of the frame. I'm interested to hear how it preforms and feels once you have made weight. The other thing is that with this much taken out, it may qualify for ESP in IDPA.
  9. Between Brighton and Flint - Livingston Gun Club runs monthly matches and in July they have a major called Ryan Rocks Charity Blast http://ryanrocksoutdooradventures.org/events/event/2019-ryan-rocks-charity-blast/ The last time i did a significant get in shape thing (14 years ago) I was running 3 miles a day with 10 lbs dumbbells and what i was telling my self is WOW I have lost this much weight!! It is a great motivator to connect results to something tangible.
  10. I am posting a status update. By the way, SUPER big thanks for the reply's I really appreciate it! Great so far, about 8 pounds down from my first post, Probably a lot of water retention gone. I do think that eliminating alcohol consumption has helped. I only had one beer this week!! Also condensed portion size and snack size. Amazing enough, with these changes a significant reduction of sugar happened and my joints don't ache much today. I didn't get into the exercise thing yet, except for I got a set of hand grip strengtheners and a set of small dumbbells to have at my desk. Belive it or not, this has been great!! These allow me to simulate trigger work, endurance and gun grip while at work. So when i have a food craving, I grab a dumbbell and practice aiming and firing at a set of targeting points on my wall. To aid in my excitement, I came across on the USPSA website the classifier stage drawings so i can practice on those too!! ( who doesn't need that ) Now for goals....... (I hate goal setting, I just prefer having fun) I would like a pound a day loss, that may be some what unrealistic, but i'm a fat guy with a lot to loose, not just a guy trying to get in shape. The next step is to start a little cardio on the elliptical (urgg). Not being a morning person makes this hard, however i have plenty of audio books to chetch up on, I just need to force my self out of bed earlier than work requires. Wish me luck here, I'm an afternoon person. Week start weight 398 Week ending weight 390 I will keep posting Thanks Again!
  11. Thanks for the support. The eating healthy is easy, it is just the quantity and regularity, I snack way to often. I think the hardest is part is the exercise, I have become a sloth :/ and that is what needs to change. Memphis, like you said, calories out > calories in. I actually have an elliptical at home, but i have to train my brain to equate using it to new gun.
  12. I'm Between Flint and Ann Arbor, kind of the other side of the state. There are a hand full of clubs with in an hour of me that have USPSA or IDPA.
  13. Hi All, I'm not sure that anyone wants to see this specifically, but I need a place to track my journey and hopefully receives a little encouragement along the way. I started shooting last year and got right into USPSA local match and then found an IDPA match also and am hooked! My fist and only gun so far is a CZ SP01, also got a DAA belt, holster and mag pouches extra mags and the other stuff you need to compete. All nice so far, anyway, I don't have a large budget so i can't just go buy the next gun on a whim, but my wife gave me the green light BUT after I get back into reasonable shape (ya, there was a "but"). So this reasonable shape is something i need to do anyway but now i have a carrot to chase and that progress is what i will be tracking here. Starting point just north of 400, ya 4 bills, that's to big, and i need to get to 300, that's the goal. I used to be a real fit guy, 6'4 and 275 and exercising almost daily, but 14 years of a desk job and 4 kids killed that and created my existing "dad bod". it is now time to fix that for health, and for becoming a better shooter. So I am starting the journey now - Shadow 2 is in the sights!! Shooter make ready, Are you ready........BEEEEEP!!!
  14. There are a lot of great youtube videos that can help you in your preparation. I started last year and found that you spend a lot more on ammo than anything else. I went through about 5,000 rounds between practice and the 12 matches and practice. Always keep an eye out for bulk 9 bargains!! Stay Safe, Listen to the RO (range officer) Don't brake the 180!! and get serious slowly, most important (for me) is have fun.
  15. Hi From Michigan, I am new to shooting as of this last spring. My wife decided that the kids are now old enough that with proper instruction they wont see guns as toys. So I now have new "not a toy" CZ SP-01. I jumped right in and started shooting in USPSA and then a few months later found a local IDPA club also. I am in for about 5,000 rounds so far and am really enjoying the sport!
  16. Hi, I know this is an old thread, but it is on topic for my question. With the 2017.3 rules update, i wanted to see if there was any one that was using a "thumb rest" / Gas Peddle in ESP based on the 8.2.2.2 ESP Permitted Features and Modifications (Inclusive list): BB. Swenson style thumb shields and frame mounted thumb shields. Also, as I prepare to build my gun and thinking, there is :Z. Slide checkering, serrating, engraving, and other machining. Does that include lightening cuts, as this may bring the Shadow 2 down to weight with a few other thoughtful enhancements.
