  1. After their springs break in you can usually fit 1 more in there, though I wouldn’t recommend it for reload magazines as it’s a pretty hard push to seat it properly. I think with the stock spring and follower that 23rd round becomes the one that you’ll want for your starter mag and not reloads. I have both new and old springs and can test it for you in a few hours if you’re really wanting to know.
  2. It may have to do with the design of the trigger and it’s fulcrum point as well. There are quite a few “drop in” triggers by Apex that go into common guns like the P320s and M&Ps that reduce the trigger weight just by this principle alone. It’s not hard to imagine considering they’re able to lower weights by about 1# just by changing the geometry of the trigger, so I could see how the Armory Craft ones do that. It could also be that everyone who’s buying them has a confirmation bias to justify their purchase and are measuring at the very bottom of the trigger instead of the usual pull spot on the stock trigger, just to make it seem lighter.
  3. I actually got a handful of these to try out from a friend and will definitely be getting a few pictures of that, for the aesthetics.
  4. Yup, just realized this morning after uploading that I forgot to mention that. Still, it doesn’t seem to make a difference in trigger pull as far as I can tell compared to my TSO. I’ll definitely have to go in and polish up some parts because it feels a little bit grittier than the TSO out of the box though. Interesting. I may have to look into one of those too.. I do like where it’s at now, aside from the above mentioned need for a polishing, but a 1# trigger pull always sounds nice too lol. Still, I don’t feel like it’s a detriment with it still being <2# from the factory.
  5. Definitely try some Pro Grip or similar product if you’re looking for a tighter grip. Of course, you’ll want to make sure you’re doing your practice with it too because it definitely changes the way your handling works with the gun.
  6. So I decided to do a sort of unboxing/overview of what comes with a Czechmate Parrot if you were to buy one this year. It's pretty well-known, at least on these forums, that CZ has been changing or cutting out some of the stuff that's included with their guns, and I took the opportunity to highlight everything that came in with my Parrot this week. It seems, aside from the last month or so, that there wasn't a lot of recent info on what's included with the gun, so I ended up making this purchase without fully knowing what to expect. My hope is that this will help some people that may be looking at buying either a Czechmate or a Czechmate Parrot in the future. With what seems to be a much larger amount of Parrots being offered this year than in the past, I figured more people might be having questions about these right now. There are a couple notable features, including the factory thumbrest as well as the lack of a second barrel. Still, the gun looks, feels, and shoots great, and I'm glad to have purchased this as my first Open gun. There's a list of parts in the video description, but here it is as well: - Custom anodized grips, optic mount, magwell, trigger, magazine basepads, & slide racker - C-More Slideride Optic Mount with Factory Adjustable Thumbrest Installed - C-More Slideride, polymer body (8 MOA dot) - 3x 20-round TS Magazines (9mm) - 1x 26-round TS Magazine (9mm) - Set of allen keys for assembly/disassembly - Magazine Loader - Extra Extractor - 2x Slidestops - 4x Disassembly/Slidestop Pins (pins only) - Front Sight Tracker - Rear Fixed Sight - TSO Thumbrest - C-More windage/elevation lock screw allen keys - 2x Spare Thumbrest Screws - Zinc-plated Guide Rod Disassembly Key (?) - Gun lock (AKA paperweight) Let me know if you guys have any questions that I can try to answer, or if there's anything I missed that you want to see covered or were wondering about.
  7. Well, I just ordered the Hero 7 Black yesterday as well as the Smatree hat. I've seen a lot of guys run the same/similar setup with no issues for video quality or shakiness. I'm hoping the built-in IS will help with anything that might be there though. I can update here with some match video if anyone's interested or comes across this thread later on down the line.
  8. No, the springs are designed to be somewhat-reduced power to allow you to fit more in the magazine. You'll notice a difference in how much easier it is to load them up when compared to the stock springs. I've heard that you can try and modify the grams springs/followers to make it work, but it's not 100%. Same with the CZ Custom ones. As mentioned above, if you're shooting USPSA you shouldn't be going to slide lock anyway. If you're just shooting the gun for fun then you shouldn't really need custom followers or basepads (not for $100+ IMO), and IDPA weight and size requirements for magazines will limit you there as well. For myself, I've switched out the slide-stop pin and just used the standalone pin since the slide catch/release gets in the way of using the thumbrest. It's different for every person, though, and whatever works best for you is what you should run.
  9. Same for me back in October lol. Second stage, I was the second shooter, and tried to make ready while facing uprange because it was an uprange start [emoji2357]
  10. Also, say goodbye to your extra spending cash because it’s a freakin sinkhole depending on how deep you get into it lol
  11. When I asked yesterday on Instagram, Max said that it’ll be more than an RTS2. I’d say around $450 to maybe even $500 range just because it’s Sig and they like to overprice their optics.
  12. Ok, just wanted to make sure. That makes a lot more sense. Getting that done on mine next week then and gonna start working on some of these loads. Will report back here with my data and results!
  13. Ok so I spoke to a local gunsmith and did some research on my own for lengthening the chamber. Everyone here is saying to ream the barrel in order to allow for a longer load, but from what the gunsmith told me as well as what I've found, that will only allow the cartridge to sit deeper inside the chamber instead of actually solving the issue of the cartridge being too long from the bullet. Wouldn't it be better to throat the chamber of the barrel? This would allow a longer bullet to sit in the chamber, while not necessarily sacrificing the internal dimensions nor the headspace length. In this case, you're actually creating more room for the bullet rather than masking the issues by allowing the cartridge to sit in further. Anyone got input on this? It is just something as simple as semantics and terminology that has me confused here?
  14. I was gonna say, I’ve seen a handful of top-level shooters going to that position in some major match videos. Names I can think of are KC Eusebio, JJ, maybe Chris Tilley? Definitely doable, but I guess it depends on how much you trust yourself. I’d imagine recoil control is trash since you don’t have as much mass behind the gun though.
  15. Just got my first classification in B yesterday shooting Limited Major! I’m thinking A is very possible for me as two of my first four classifiers were 77% and 79%. Of course, I’m sure others have fallen into this trap of thinking before too. I’m sure I’m not one of the first to start relatively decently, but I’ve regularly been placing around 80% of club matches and being pretty competitive in Limited. Of course, it’s the “off-season” for a lot of the better shooters, so maybe my results are skewed. When I got my Limited gun (TSO) a couple months back I saw absolutely no appeal in shooting Open, but I’m finding myself drawn to it more and more as I progress. I’m hoping to at least make A in Limited before I switch, but I’m seriously considering buying a Czechmate as it’s a relatively cheap way to try out Open and some of the stuff for my TSO would work on the same gun. I’ve heard a lot of benefits in shooting a dot versus irons too, which makes it even more appealing. What do you guys think?
  16. Oof, thread turned into a circle jerk again. To be honest, we’re all adults and can spend our money however we want so who tf cares if some dude wants to spend $1000+ to have a heavy barrel and a t-shirt that says it? Lol. Thats like making fun of someone for buying a Ferrari when he could’ve just bought a Honda because “they both drove 10,000 miles just the same”.
  17. Fair enough. We'll have to talk about it some more. I'm maybe considering just starting with like a Czechmate at this point too. I figure its a cheap(er) way to try shooting Open, I already have all the reloading stuff for it, and some of the stuff from my TSO would work on the same gun. Then, if I decide to stick with it, I'll go all out on a Limcat lol. I’m still pretty new to the game, so it’s incredibly difficult to justify a $7000 purchase when I haven’t even been shooting for more than a few months lol.
  18. So everyone here is suggesting getting the barrel reamed. Do you just go to a local gunsmith for that? There aren't a lot by me, and I don't want to wait 2+ weeks (probably) before I can even start load development on a gun lol.
  19. Man, I would hate to burn through some of that expensive 38 Super ammo. How about we go out for a practice session some time, and if I buy you some new brass we call it fair for shooting and dirtying up your gun? I'd hate to be the reason you lose a few pieces of that stuff at the same time lol. Yeah this is exactly what I was thinking. My current gun (CZ TSO) is already pretty heavy and flat as it is compared to some other limited guns I see people shooting, but I can only imagine how much flatter it would be with a few more ounces on it and especially toward the front instead of primarily coming from the slide.
  20. So after 15 years of circle jerking and "physics this and that, I'm right and you're wrong even though I never owned a tungsten barrel", did the original questions of whether or not it's worth it get answered? Basically, how many of you (that actually own a gun with a tungsten barrel) would actually recommend it? I'm looking at getting a Limcat build started in the next few months and this is one of those things where I haven't had a chance to actually shoot one and am hoping to get insight from some owners. I spoke with Julian at the shop about some of the options, but still feel like there's more to consider besides "yeah its a heavier barrel" lol.
  21. Kinda reviving an old thread here, but how did the Hero 7 work for you? I'm considering getting one for the higher framerate recording (slow-motion review) and the built-in image stabilization. Figured one of those Smatree caps would work well for getting video that way. And for everyone saying it's not worth it getting first person view... I'd argue that it's still pretty useful to see how fast/smooth transitions are, how quickly you're moving eyes to a new target on those transitions, presentation to targets on entry/exit, how and why you might have had mikes or pulled shots, recoil management, etc. that you just can't get from somebody following you in third person (assuming they don't record a s#!tty video). Though a $300-$400 GoPro might not be the solution for everyone, you can still get some good information from a first person view with another camera.
  22. Found on DAAs website here. Was just about to buy it but had to buy a couple cases of bullets after Gallant finally got some .40 in stock. Heads up too, shipping from PA to me (NV) is like $30 for UPS Ground, so be ready for that if you decide to buy. Either way, I'm picking one up for sure when I get paid on the 15th. Did the tarp scooping thing one last time this week and I'm pretty well sick of it lol. Will update here with a sort of update/review after taking it out a couple times.
  23. About how big would you say it is packed up on the case? Like length and such? I've already always got targets and stands in the back of my Jeep for when I got shooting, don't know how much room I'll have for it to stay back there if it's too big lol. Still though, I definitely plan on buying the CED one at this point. You pointing out that your buddy immediately bought one after trying it vs. his self-made one was just the push I needed.
  24. Man, wish I would’ve seen this sooner. Unfortunately, I’ve had some unexpected emergency expenses and couldn’t pick it up anyway. As far as looking for a suitable substitute, it’s been almost constantly snowing this last ~month now, and I’ve barely been able to even go out and shoot. Go figure it’s gotta snow Wednesday-Friday when I can only take time to shoot Friday-Sunday lol. This is after buying a new gun and targets, and I’m stuck at home dryfiring because of the weather lol. I’m thinking they might be dropping the brass catcher to that $135 for a little while, and may just end up buying one once this weather clears up a little better. The few times I did go out after my original post, I just threw down a tarp and did it the old-fashioned way. Still, I know for a fact it’d save time buying the CED brass chute since setup is so quick and it automatically dumps it into a collection container for you. Since most of my live fire practice the last few months has been doubles/standards drills, I stand in the same spot 90% of the time or at least end in the same spot on entry/exit drills.
