Circling back here with what I've found to resolve my astigmatism mismatch with traditional red dot sites. As I knew would be the case, the EOTech EXPS 2 would be an improvement for me over the red dots, which I validated. I just mounted a different EXPS 2 with Green reticle and it's hugely different, enough so that I consider it the resolution for me. The green reticle is more crisp without any flaring, blooming, etc. Thanks again to the guys that chimed in with your experiences, it went a long way to help up and running with my PCC. MB

Thanks JKrispies, I appreciate the input....very helpful. I looked through a six MOA and, as I recall, I saw a larger version of the tilted figure eight (that looks like a flare with the smaller dots). Going back to the Eotech has helped, but was thinking last night I'll be able to find a Holosun at SHOT instead of waiting til March. I'll also hunt down other larger dot sights for a better comparison. Thanks again, MB

Thanks Guys, very good info. While I dig through a few things to try (based on your responses), I've put the Eotech EXPS 2 back on for an upcoming local match. It is better dot quality for me than the red dots are. I'll be in Vegas for Safariland Expedition and know a few guys with the Holosun; would like to look through one in the bright daylight out there and compare to the Eotech. MB

I have a question for you guys with an astigmatism. I’ve tried many red dots and never liked the big flare I was seeing in them, regardless of who made it. I went from brand to brand and nothing has looked the way I hear them described by others and I’m thinking, what the heck are these guys getting out of this that isn’t working for me!? Come to find out, I have an astigmatism that screws up what the dot is supposed to look like and the problem is far worse in bright sunlight. After speaking with a really well known shooter, he tells me he has the same issue and runs an etched reticle 1X optic. I don’t have this issue with the low power variables I use on my 3G rifles, so his approach makes sense. Anyone here running etched reticle 1X or low power (1-4X) on your PCC for this reason? MB

It’s likely not comfortable for some percentage of those that have tried it, however, I’ve not had an issue with comfort shooting weakhand. MB

I use the Ergo Tactical Deluxe (hate the name) on all my ARs. It’s the only grip that fills my hand, everything else (to me) feels like a Broomhandle Mauser. MB

I have the GMR15, couldn’t be more pleased. MB

I prefer heavier guns; PCC is 8 lbs 12 1/8 oz and 3G Rifle is 11 lbs 8 oz, both are JPs. MB

I've shot my PCC a number of times since my last visit here, the most recent was yesterday, and having not seen your response yet, I can say I understand exactly what you're saying and have decided to stick with the circle dot. I practiced on nothing but my plate rack and noticed how easy it is to track the next plate. Thanks again, MB

Mine arrived late last week and it’s everything I expected. It runs flawlessly, it’s fast and flat. I ordered the short stroke conversion and should have it in hand later this week. MB

I'm running the EGW Spacestock (http://www.egwguns.com/ar-rifle-parts/whitley-spacestock/) on my JP Rifle and the Cole Components on my JP PCC. The EGW is the perfect weight for me, additional weights are available from EGW. MB

My experience with RCI has been absolutely stellar. They did a beautiful job opening the port on my VersaMax and I'm running all RCI components on the VersaMax and my M2. I also just had Mark upgrade my M2 to the new Roth Performance receiver. One of the most notable things is, I bought the +2 extension tube for the VersaMax and the first time I removed it (after testing), I laid it on the table next to me and it rolled off, damaging the threads in a way I could no longer install it. I called, explained the situation, fessed up it was my fault and asked to order and pay for another. Mark said he's sending another at no charge and wouldn't let me pay him for it. Based on my experience and others I know, I believe your SG made it out of the shop prematurely. I also feel, based on my experience, Mark will make it right if you give him the chance. MB

Yep, you're correct, but anything below 10X is fixed (fixed or variable power) at the factory to be optimal at a specific distance. Typically, anything above 10X is adjustable by the user via side or objective focus. In regards to the LCO, have you noticed a minimum distance where the parallax is worse, or, maybe a better way to answer that is, have you noticed any issues on closer targets while running your PCC, rifle, whatever, using the LCO? Is it any worse than any other 1X red dot you may have used? Thanks, MB

Copy Neomet and Fastarget, will definitely chrono the 128pf stuff in the JP to see if it differs. Based on your comments, I'm of the mind that I should see an increase, but will gather data. Appreciate the input and looking forward to getting started in PCC. MB

Just ordered the Cole Components for my GMR15. It’s fully adjustable to tailor to specific fit, but not collapsible, which I prefer for a few reasons. MB
