  1. IMO reliability trumps usability for self defense. Now, if there was an optic that offered both that would be ideal. But there isn’t.
  2. You can slide the battery contact back into place, it usually takes at least a few hundred rounds before it moves again. Not an ideal solution, but workable.
  3. the main perks of the RMR is the reliability, ruggedness and battery life. When your life is on the line, the dot will be there. The problem with using it in a game is it’s tiny window. While you can use it, you’re putting yourself at a competitive disadvantage.

    X5 rear sight?

I don’t think there are any options for the rear sight
  5. Trijicon RMR is great for carry, but a rare sight in Uspsa for a reason.
  6. Some are worse than others, but it’s unusual right now to get one that lasts over 10k on a CO gun.
  7. ‘if they are equally reliable, I’d use the Max. The SRO is slightly closer to the bore, less than 0.10”
  8. I like the Max, but the SRO has proven reliable so far, so i’ll probably use that through nationals. The dot on the Max is way more adjustable, and the thinner bezel is nice. That said, they are fairly equivalent.
  9. Ive taken mine apart a couple times now. Never had a problem with the shaft sticking. Just slid right out on mine
  10. It’s the same as the previous Romeo 3, also the same as the cmore rts2, and various clones. the mounting pattern for the mounting screws is actually the same as the romeo1, DPP, vortex and couple others I can’t remember, it’s just much longer than these other optics.
  11. the overhang when using the SRO on the legion is ideal for keeping the lens clean. And using the 12# recoil spring I never had a malfunction in over 7500 rounds.
  12. the center of the window on the Max is 1.24” over the center of the bore, on a p320 X5 with springer plate. If I remember right the SRO was around 1.20”
  13. it’s pretty far forward using the springer plate. I’m interested to see how it mounts on the legion, the lens is sure to collect a ton of crud from the LCI slot in the barrel.
  14. Measurements and usable glass size can be 2 different things, according to the chart the rmr is nearly the same height and the vortex razor is slightly larger. I’ve used them all and the DPP had by far the most forgiving window. The rmr for example counts the glass below the emitter, so while on paper it’s only 1.5 mm less than a DPP, in practice it’s signifigantly less. in any case, I’m done arguing over the internet about an outdated optic.
  15. The SRO is looking pretty good. I just got a Romeo 3 Max and that looks good as well. That said, I wouldn't recommend either until their reliability is proven.
  16. What slide mounted dot had a bigger window? RTS2 was close, most everything else was significantly smaller.
  17. The DPP was the clear winner in form factor in years past, biggest widow, bright dot, etc. And really it wasn't any more or less reliable than other options available at the time. That said, I think there are other potentially better options available now.
  18. I broke 8 DPPs last year. At one point I had 6, just to have 2 running. I have several friends that had similar experiences with their DPPs used for CO. Ive only ever had one last more than 10k rounds. In my personal experience I wouldn't call them reliable. Ive long since moved away from them.
  19. Supposedly at some point sig will make a slide that is pre milled for the R3 Max
  20. Mid to high 500s. I’m sure the price will come down as it becomes more available, just like the SRO has.
  21. I don’t really notice the bezel on either.
  22. The main problem with the DPP is the battery contact mount. If you shoot enough in any one session to get the gun really hot, the glue that holds the battery contact in place loosens up and the battery contact moves. After a few sessions of this, the battery contact fails. only shoot a couple hundred rounds at a time, and you are likely to not have any problems.
  23. Received my Romeo3 Max today. I’ve been using a SRO for the last 6 weeks and have been pretty happy with it since I’ve learned the quirks of the optic. That said, I’ve been waiting for the R3 Max for awhile now, so I mounted it up to an X5 and ran some rounds through it. the window is pretty big, noticeably wider than the SRO but about the same height. Dot was very bright and very adjustable. On some dots I’ve tried, like the romeo1 6MOA and the SRO, the dot goes from dim to full bright in 1 or 2 clicks. The Max has many intermediate brightness settings, very easy to get it dialed in for exact lighting conditions. the zero adjustment dials had positive and audible clicks when adjusting. Reminded me of the DPP adjustment knobs, which I think are the best system. the bezel around the glass is thin and almost disappears when in use, the glass is clear and distortion free. I’ve included a pic of the window compared to a SRO. Overall, if it’s reliable, it looks like it will be a good choice.
  24. The DPP is not a good choice for a CO gun, at least until they come out with the new circuit board, and even then it's completely unproven.
