  1. I just got my tanfo stock 2 OR back from patriot defense, set up my belt and then this past sunday shot a steel Challange match with it. WOW is all I have to say. CO is sweet. Cant wait to shoot a USPSA matc with it.
  2. A new club in MI just started doing steel Challange this a couple weeks ago. They had max participation this past sunday. Lots of rimfire as they decided to go legit and already had a rimfire group. But I'd say at least 20 of us shooting 9mm. My biggest fear for match participation is being able to travel freely. I think travel bans are going to be a bigger detriment then ammo.
  3. Damn this sucks. I enjoy this match because it is close to sone very good friends in PA that I almost never get to see anymore. I'm now in MI and this is a great way to get in a great match and see them.
  4. I know the cheely mount is a solid fit in the cut on the XWF frames.
  5. Our go to is chamber ream to SAMMI max, the take throat reamer and finish ream using either customer supplied "dummy rounds" or the ones we use for my personal comp guns. No complaints. We also only use KKM barrels.
  6. Just seen a used Benny Hill 6" gun on Ken's list or on here the other day. My experience with a 5" (steel grip 2011) vs 5.5" (Limcat wildcat sight tracker w/plastic grip) is while the 5.5" shoots nice I prefer the 5". I'm going to eventually put a LSI grip on the limcat and it will probably be just as nice. For the vast majority of stages in and around Mi we dont have a lot of far shots, more tight shots around barricades or through ports. It is easier for me to move the 5" gun around that type of stage.
  7. I do have access to a Arbor press at the shop...
  8. So far so good on my end. Little time consuming but it ran 100% at today's steel Challange match. Sadly I didnt run so well. Cant complain though. First match with the new gun and belt setup. Forgot to reload between runs a couple times, getting used to the first pull being DA and then SA is way different then a 1911 setup. But man it was a blast. I havent had this much fun shooting a match in probably a year.
  9. Exaclty! It's either the Redback or an AO1LD. Or save the money.... but who does that?
  10. @Jim Watson interesting info about 9rnd spacer issue. I have a brand new dawson that came with the base pad and it will only accept 9 rounds. I'll have to check the spacer. Side note, the mecgar dont use any spacer. They have a formed rib down the front of the mag instead. Much better idea IMO. And they are cake to disassemble. Cant loose a spacer if there isnt one. And springs come out much easier then the metalform ones also.
  11. I cut the front and back legs off the follower flush with the little nipples that hold it to the spring with a pair of side cutters then sand where I cut with 500 grit sand paper just enough to get the sharp edge off. Install a TTI 4G base plate and that's it. Well I guess the first thing I do is take it out of the package lol. Been running them for 2 years like this now. In a RIA and now a STI.
  12. I ment exactly what I said. Stock follower and spring is 100% reliable. Just trim the bottom legs of the follower.
  13. I dont even waste money on the grams kits for 40 cal. Trim the bottom of the followers and install a TTI 4G basepad. Boom 20 rounds reloadable and reliable. I've got 10 gen two STI 140 setup like this and all are 100% reliable.
  14. @Twinkie just got the mecgar mags. Hands down the best mags I've found. Seat easily when slide closed, easy to unload them (like as easy as just pushing the rounds out like a 2011 mag), easy to disassemble. To disassemble all you have to do is push up the bumper tab at the front and slide the base pad off. All I know is I'm gonna run these 2 a bunch and if they work good in live fire I'm buying 10 more. Thanks everyone for the input.
  15. Big thanks! Got in touch with them and now I just need to decide if I want a mini sight tracker for my carry 2011.
  16. Ok cool. I didnt think so but wanted to make sure.
  17. Other then the old Para widebody frames I havent seen anything that needed a longer sear spring ever. What frames/grips have you found that need them?
  18. My preference is a 17lb main spring, 12.5lb recoil spring, and rounds bottom firing pin stop. 5" limited gun with 168PF 40cal. All springs are IMSI.
  19. Got to shoot it today. Oh man this is gonna be a great little open gun for Steel Challange.
  20. What happens if the slide doesnt have enough reward travel to clear the disconnector? The slide goes back almost to behind the disco but doesnt let the disco pop back up. I've shot about 150 rounds so far and everything seems fine. Just noticed it tonight while cleaning.
  21. Interesting idea on that "shim". Arredondo made them for the old Para mags. I think I have one laying around. Wonder if it would fit? Sanded down my jb weld job.... seems good while just racking the rounds out of the pistol. I am going to try and make it to the range this week before work sometime. Will update what the outcome is.
  22. Awesome. Looking forward to what it weighs.
