Haha! You will be glad you did, I promise. Best of luck with your new setup.
  2. I recently purchased and installed a Bar-Sto barrel in my X5, and I am not sure I can say that it is worth the investment. I paid $240 for the barrel, plus an additional $100 to get it fitted and throated. As @Rich406 mentioned, the throat was so short, none of my ammo would plunk. The accuracy is *MINIMALLY* better, but certainly within a margin of error, so I am calling it a push. Follow up shots are slightly quicker when using the GreyGuns fat guide rod and 14# spring, but I think with some recoil spring experimentation, I could improve the performance if the SIG barrel. I love the Bar-Sto barrel, don't get me wrong, but after spending the money and doing some extensive testing, it is not worth the cost of my application and level of shooting. Bar-Sto barrel on the left, SIG barrel on the right. 10 yards. I clicked the red dot one click to the left before shooting the SIG barrel, so the group is shifted slightly left vs. the Bar-Sto:
  3. That is great information. Thank you for that.
  4. I have the TRT Tactical mag well and a bunch of his basepads. It took forever to get them, and the response time to emails was pretty much non-existent. Once I finally got them however (after threatening to cancel my order), I love the products.

Honestly, I cannot say one is better than the other at this point. I think I prefer the glass on the Romeo1 a bit better, and I am certainly able to pick up the dot better on recoil, but that could be due to the bigger dot. The Venom is on a .22 with hardly any recoil, yet I can still pickup the dot better for followup shots on the Romeo 1 that is on my X5.
  6. 6 MOA all day long. I replied this in the X5 thread as well. I love the Romeo 1, but the Venom is a nice dot as well, but as others have mentioned, you need a mounting plate to get it to work. With the forces being applied to the sight being slammed back and forth repeatedly while on the slide, it is always better to mill and mount the sight directly to the slide. With the X5, you can mount the Romeo 1 directly, and the DPP with some slight modifications. That would be my recommendations. Did I mention 6 MOA???

All I can say here is that you should highly consider the 6 MOA red dot rather than the 3 MOA. I am going to be turning 60 this year, and my eyes can pickup the 6 MOA dot much easier than the 3 MOA dot for action sports. For action sports, I have a 3 MOA Venom on my .22 pistol that I use for steel matches (SCSA), and the 6 MOA SIG Romeo 1 on my X5. I MUCH prefer the 6 MOA dot. I will probably be ditching the 3 MOA Venom in favor of a 6 MOA replacement sometime soon. Now for more precision work like rifle accuracy stuff, I prefer the smaller dot, and have a 3 MOA dot on one of my AR rifles, which I love, but for action sports, go with the 6 MOA. You will thank me later!!!

    X5 Rumor?

That was my thought when I saw it too. I have "heard" that it has the same footprint as the DPP, which shouldn't be too hard to adapt to a standard X5 slide. We will see come summer I guess. EDIT: OK, now I am reading that it has the same bolt pattern as the RTS2, so I take back what I said about the DPP mount.
  9. Thanks for the great reminder that these types of things can and do happen, and usually at the worst times. Good thing for you it was not at a match. I lost a P226 sear spring at a steel match several years ago. Frustrating.

Man, that is some ugly-looking brass! Something is (obviously) not right. Are these factory loads or hand loads? If hand loads, how long are you making them? Do they all pass the plunk test? Good luck, I hope you get it figured out. I would not feel comfortable shooting something that generated brass like that.

I am pretty sure the 21 round mags are legal in USPSA CO.

    SIG 365

I have been carrying a P938 every day for many years now, but think that someday I am going to switch over to the P365. Last night I had a dream that I lost my P938 when out and about. It was horrifying, but funny, I remember in my dream thinking "I can finally get the P365!" LOL! Funny how our subconscious mind works!
  13. I was thinking the same thing, with the new Walther release pending.
  14. One of the downsides for me after adding the shroud to my Romeo 1 was that the protective cover that SIG supplies no longer fits. Someone posted a link to a supplier that makes a more supple "rubbery" type of cover for the Romeo 1 on Amazon. I contacted the seller and asked if the cover would fit when using the shroud. They replied "NO", so I let it lie for a while. But something in the back of mind got me to thinking that if it is as flexible and rubbery as I think it it, it might just work. Long story short, it DOES FIT, but it is not a perfect fit. It actually works pretty well however and does provide some protection for the Romeo 1 when it is in the safe and for transporting to the range in my bag. I might get my Xacto knife out and trim one little corner over by the UP/DOWN buttons, but other than that, I was able to get it over the Romeo 1/shroud setup very easily. The company is called "Dream Plastics" and they hey sell a 2-pack of the covers for $10 + shipping on Amazon. Remember, this is not a perfect fit, so YMMV, but it is the only solution I know of that works. Dream Plastics Romeo 1 Cover - Amazon
  15. I notice that my 6 MOA Romeo1 jumps from being "too dim" to "too bright" in one click as well. I am not sure where I am in the sequence, but it is a pretty drastic jump in brightness. I can shoot OK indoors at the dim setting, but I would prefer it a bit brighter, just not as bright as the next step up, which is blinding!

Very cool! Congratulations proud daddy! That is a really awesome first centerfire pistol. I am sure he is thrilled. Way to go getting him excited and into shooting at an early age. We really need that next generation of Pro 2A shooters. He is a great shot too!!!
  17. Just received my Romeo1 shroud! I was beginning to think they were made from Unobtanium. It is been on backorder from Optics Planets forever...

    P320 X5 Thread

Update on my X-5. I have about 650 rounds down the pipe now, and the groups are starting to tighten up a bit. I added the GG comp trigger kit and the heavy recoil rod (still using the standard 15 lb spring, but plan to start testing lighter springs soon). Yesterday at 7 yards I got a single, ragged hole. Not much of a victory, but better than when I first got it, and at this point I will take it. At 10 yards, I got OK results, maybe a 3" spread. Not great, but getting better than on previous attempts. At 20 yards, things opened up a bit as expected (shooting offhand). Certainly not where I want it to be. So the trend is in a positive direction which is good, but overall, I still can't shoot this gun as well as all my others. I am going to keep at it and hope the trend continues in the right direction. Fingers crossed...
  19. I bought one, and am not that impressed with it. I am used to the larger thumb rests from my LTD guns, and this one is just not my cup of tea. Plus, if I shoot CO with it, it is not an approved accessory. When I was cleaning my X5 yesterday, I took it off and put the stock takedown lever back on. I am probably going to put it up for sale.

Just a guess (obviously)... but they seem to come back into stock every 2 weeks or so for a few days, and then they go out of stock again. Get on the waiting list and jump when they are available. That is what I did, and by the end of that day, they were out of stock again.

As long as it fits the 140 mm gauge, you are fine. I just installed the same kit, and I thought the sears looked very similar as well. I figured the Grayguns version has some "special sauce" to it that not discernable to the naked eye. I agree that the GG trigger kit feels very different from the stock trigger however. I love it.
  22. Unfortunately, no. I keep meaning to, but I am so busy shooting and have barely enough loading time to keep up with the capacity. Now that the winter months are here, I hope to get to it soon.
  23. Just curious... Which dot did you get with the DPP? The smaller 2.5 MOA dot, or the larger 7.5 MOA triangle? I have heard some that love the triangle reticle and others that hate it.
  24. Don't mean to hijack the thread, but what didn't you like about the Romeo1? I just ordered one, but haven't installed it yet (I am waiting for the metal shroud to arrive).
