  1. welcome! another Mass guy here. just started shooting USPSA myself (Hokinton last week) lots of good info here...........and temptations to spend $$$$$ LOl!
  2. I attended an all weekend "intro to USPSA" session a couple of weeks ago. The Ro's that ran it really tried to hammer home the "safety" piece of this sport and IMO did an excellent job. (Hopkinton Heavy Hitters) Day 2 we ran a 4 stage course. During the runs every time someone did something that would've DQ'd them we heard "STOP" the violation was explained and if not too egregious they wee allowed to continue that stage , otherwise they were pulled aside and spoken to one on one and the violation was clearly explained to them. Fast forward to this weekend. I attended my first "real" USPSA match, coincidentally at the same club. This time the Ro's were right on top of everyone as they knew we had a lot of new "competitors" attending and 4 people DQ'd. I took my time and went a bit slower than I normally would and told the Ro's that I was focused on getting as many alphas as possible and not getting DQ'd. My scores reflected it but I finished safely and the RO's that ran our squad remembered me from the class and actually thanked me after each of my runs for taking my time and being safe. I don't ever want to be "that guy" that is in the pictures earlier in this thread.

    Shadow 2 Grips

I had a pair of LOK palmswell, but I hd to file down the tops . I liked them after that I got a set of VZ palm swells on there now and I love them , they are a little bit narrower than the LOK's and not quite as crazy rough. I see LOK has added a new model specifically for the Shadow 2 to fix that issue. they pay attention VZ LOK
  4. same here I can't stand shooting 115 "off the shelf" rounds These 147's felt really good. I tend to shoot the S&B 124 the most (when just Practicing) and those feel considerably hotter than this JJRAmmo round I received today. I alos just found this Delta Precision Point is selling their own rounds now as well as just bullet heads? Delta Precision anyone have any experience with these (a bit cheaper than the JJRAmmo)
  5. I am not rolling my own ammo yet (the Mrs. is busting my chops about it) so my buddy rolls his own and I occasionally shoot his. I usually just used S&B 124gr off the shelve. I go back and forth between that and Aguila 124 for plinking. American Eagle 147 for match use. I received a box from JJRAmmo.com today and went to the range and tried them. 147 Delta precision premium per JJR - "chrono'd perfectly at about 890 fps out of my CZ for a 130 PF." A bit more $$ than off the shelve 9mm (especially through something like Target Sports) but man....it was almost like shooting .22LR. Through a gun as heavy as a Shadow 2 is 147 really necessary? will a lighter load 124 feel this soft as well? or is this the way to go? (it sure seems like it but I have limited experience with "match ammo". through my M&P 9L the difference in "kick" or lack of was tremendous.
  6. hey that drill he's doing with the plates in part 2 is exactly what I was doing with my paper targets last night that made me see how inconsistent I was
  7. thanks for the info I thought we were all talking about the same spring but apparently not I take it this is what you are referring too? trigger spring ordered that trigger spring and the 11 pound hammer spring. was going to also order the disconnector but I can always come back around if I feel that I still need it
  8. looks like the majority says 11# hammer string and practice. coming frorm a striker fire background, dry firing in DA actually seems to feel somewhat natural, it's with live ammo for some reason feels like the take up is forever long. I'll grab one of the 11# springs and give it a try, oh and yes I did mean lighter trigger return spring (the one that comes with the extended firing pin)
  9. so I went to the range today and worked a simple drill. We can't draw from a holster at this club so the drill went like this. Muzzle down , hammer down.......Go!! 1,2 One shot to the left target one to the right. I lined up in front of the left target for several rounds then the right and then reversed the drill and went right to left etc.. all of my 'spread" shots are my DA shots and my single follow ups were almost all dead on. this is at 32 feet. I rotated ammo between Aguila 124 , magtech 124 and AE 147 the AE was definitely the easiest to stay on center with , but overall not a huge difference. So i already have the 13# hammer spring in there with the extended FP and lighter return spring.I honestly don't feel much difference between my DA pull and my buddy's stock S2 so what else is there to do to not only lighten a bit but shorten it?
  10. this is exactly what I was seeing with the other 'standard sized" mag release. I'm going to try them tomorrow and see if the original mag release flipped for a lefty will work reliably with them. ( i hope so)
  11. I still have 4 MecGar mags, I'll have to run them with the mag release switched and see if they will actually drop. Now that I've gone "live" and see how time is of the essence when running these courses I have to be sure my equipment does not fail (obviously). LOL! I have 6 ghost mag holsters on my belt and only 4 CZ mags so if the MecGars work they do have a home
  12. update on this Now I've got all of the tools I ended up putting the original extended mag release back in but flipped to the right side for a lefty. man getting that lower spring back in was a real b*tch LOL! but I did it. I also went ahead and bought all "real CZ mags" I used them in my first USPSA match last weekend and had zero issues I don't trust the MecGars any more, I'll just use them at the range going forward. A lot of the other CZ guys at the match don't like them either
  13. they do , and we do have to clear them off of the table to score, I only have 9's right now, really no interest in going .40, .45 etc.
  14. thanks for the encouragement, overall I came in at the middle of the pack but that one stage , I did rock it Next up USPSA in Hopkinton May 5th and then on to Rhode Island for "Mini walls of Steel" may 12th and off to a Bowling Pins match May 18th and the Steel challenge Both at holbrook May 26 hopefully I can get something going 3-4 times a month all summer I've got an M&P Performance Center 9L wit a Jpoint optic on it that I haven't even "broken out" yet. I hope my wife won't miss me too much the next couple of months LOL!
  15. man it was a blast but I sure have a lot to learn.. 3 stage match did great on 1 stage (2nd) did ok on the 2nd ....but the 3rd. A lot of moving and like a total noob figured I 'd wing it. Took the completely worst execution path you could possibly take and hosed myself out of the top 5 for the Production class. I was the poster child for how not to run a stage LOL! On the bright side..... I am now addicted! ran my shadow 2 , zero issues, all of my gear was "ON!" Even though I messed up I had so much fun...I don't even care. Great bunch of guys running it and participating too. I just ran AE 124gr as I've not gotten into reloading yet , but it sure looks like I'm going to. Can't wait for the next match
  16. I don't think they make one for the Shadow 2 , I couldn't find one
  17. when you replace the rear sight back on do you have to zero it or will it centered automatically with the 2 lock screws?
  18. So if I do grab a 75B SA (which is considerably cheaper than a Shadow 2??? how come?) what can I do to it to that's "needed" and will allow me to stay in Production class? I shot 300 rounds yesterday combined through my S2, my buddies Target II and my M&P pc 9L (which has the Apex flat faced trigger set in it) I have an optic on my m&P so that is out for production but I did come to the conclusion that my follow up shots are much quicker with the flat trigger. I absolutely adore my S2 and out of the 3 I shot yesterday I am most accurate with it over the others by a considerable margin, but my double taps ? ............not so much, I wish the S2 and the Target II (which I quite like as well) were available as SAO. is the Target II more similar to the 75B in shape /weight /feel etc than the Shadow 2?
  19. 75B SA? how will this feel compared to my shadow 2? anyone here have both?
  20. armory craft are all single action as well. changing my trigger to SAO takes me out of production right?
  21. I recently dropped in the apex forward set sear flat faced trigger set into my M&P 9L and really like the flat faced trigger. I see a flat faced trigger on the Cajun site and the CZ custom site but they are SA only. Is that the only option available to me? I find the flat faced trigger much more comfortable on my finger and fast double taps seem to be easier with it
  22. I went from an M&P Performance Center 9L to a shadow 2. Love the S2 I shoot great with it. fast forward a month, I had my gunsmith drop in the apex forward set trigger sear set/polish all internals) grabbed a KKM non ported barrel and put my JPoint mini red dot on it. I'm shooting it almost as well as my shadow 2 now. Practice Practice Practice. I have more trouble going from Iron sights to Red dot and back than I do switching guns LOL! it seems to always take me about 20 rounds or so to "re adjust" my vision (I'm getting up there)
