  1. while cleaning my shadow 2 todnight I noticed that the front sight has a little play to it. is this normal? It's not a screw that holds it in it's a pin so I don't know how I'd go about tightening it down any? Also anyone know the size of the fiber optic rod these come with? mine fell out today at the range (luckily I found it) so I'd like to buys some more to have on hand (maybe go green too)
  2. ok so you do recommend removing upper pin as well. A few of the videows i saw just showed these guys yanking it out. didn't seem like a very good idea to me thanks
  3. any preferred method of pulling that thin steel plate in front of the hammer spring? I see some videos where they pull the top pin, others where they just yank it out? I'm not great with this stuff so I want the easiest but obviously the safest way to do this so I don't mess up anything o my new baby
  4. my 3 week old shadow 2 also has those cuts.
  5. any problems dry firing with the extended pin?
  6. thanks guys, I bought the extended pin (comes with the spring) so I think I'll just swap out the pin when the parts arrive. Just watching a video on youtube on how to do these , are these really as simple as the vids make em look? by about how much is this going to lower the DA pull?
  7. so I put about 450 rounds through this thing so far and # 1 replaced the grips with a set of LOK palm swells got an extended safety for the right hand side (I'm left handed) I just ordered these three parts as well. https://cajungunworks.com/product/hs-13-blue-13-hammer-spring/https://cajungunworks.com/product/ext-fp-extended-firing-pin/ I just want to lower my DA pull and the guys over on the CZ forum said these are the parts. What's the extended firing pin actually give me? I know I need both springs but what does the pin give me? I wa also going to order the 10X bushing but I have not shot it off of a rest yet and out to 50 feet free hand so far this thing has been great. I will re evaluate that need sometime this week. Love the extra width these give me.
  8. Nice!!!!! I'm sure you will love it , my buddy has an urban gray and I have a black one. best shooting Out of the box guns I've experienced to date.
  9. Hmmmm I took delivery of mine last Friday (OakHillguns) and it came with the wider safety in the case. My buddy took delivery of his Urban Gray 2 weeks earlier through an FFL in New Hampshire and his did not come with the wider safety?
  10. I second Oak Hill Guns. Very accommodating and ship quickly
  11. just came back form the range and put 200 more rounds through it. God damn this thing is a blast to shoot!
  12. is there a mag release that is lower or more flush to the grip available for a shadow 2? I'm left handed , but I like the mag release on the left side, this extended version may start to aggravate my trigger finger after a while though, so I'm wondering if there is a more "flush" release that will drop right in?
  13. just picked it up today. first 50 rounds at 30 feet. not terrible , I need to get used to the DA pull, I pulled up a bit with that DA pull,.The SA pull is superb, nice short reset. another couple of hundred rounds through this and I should be all dialed in . Not too terrible for my first ever DA/SA gun.
  14. hmmm I just ordered a 91254 black shadow 2, I guess some dealers still have a few, mine is incoming

    New shadow 2

A buddy of mine just picked an an Urban Gray Shadow 2 and let me shoot about 200 rounds through it last weekend. Definitely going to be my next purchase. Fit my hand like a glove and at 15-20 yards we were both shooting 2-3" groups with it as soon as we picked it up.
  16. gunsmithed trigger (4.5 pound pull no Apex all original parts except for one spring , I have access to several really good gunsmiths in my area) night sights and a few different mag configurations. The MagGuts+2 kits work great with either the 7 or 8 round mags, my 7 round mags and re 9+1 and my 8 round mags are 10+1. I also use the Hyve extensions on a couple of 8 round mags , but they are a bit longer than the Magguts option so I don't carry those. with a good trigger , the Shield is a very shootable little beast. I carry mine almost everywhere I go. StealthGear mini or flex , both holsters rock!
  17. update on this , Vortex sent me a plate for their "Viper" and now am zeroed in quite nicely. They look to be a pretty great company to deal with, their support reps were quick and courteous and seemed to be genuinely interested in helping me out. I sent back the mount for the Venom and am shredding targets with this thing
  18. so I got this thing back a while ago and I need shims to zero it in. I think S&W has some milling issues as Shield has told me they have received multiple complaints about this on the 9L PC cores. so this is with the shim they sent me and some business cards Under the rear end. they're sending me an additional shim to I can make this a bit more stable. anyone else on here have to deal with this? on a positive even with the make do shims at I'm getting really dialed in with this trigger
  19. so I finally put the Venom on this thing and it wouldn't zero , I had to shim it with a piece of a credit card to elevate the rear part of it. Vortex is sending me a Viper plate and I ordered a shim off of Amazon. anyone else have this issue? I had the same issue with my Shield mini sight on my M&P 9L too , had to get shims form shield for it to zero. 2 for 2
  20. Zero-ed at 35 feet today /12 yards and then had a go at it free hand. I think I will move out 5 feet "per session" so my trigger pull is consistent out to 75 feet. pretty good day , focused on finding the 'reset" so i didn't need a full trigger pull. Once I got that I was pretty much spot on for a few mags. Getting better with every outing....really liking this M&P now. Now to get into another Steel plate comp and see how this translates to moving from target to target.
  21. thanks gooldylocks, that was the type of info i was looking for, I think I will go back tomorrow and zero in at 40 feet and split the difference. I would zero in at 60 or 70 feet but I tend to start to 'scatter" at that distance, my groups start to spread out so off of a rest I'd be great , freehand I'd probably still be all over the place. Maybe I'll try it out longer tomorrow as well, my clubs pistol range goes to 100 feet. Zeroing in at 60 feet and being able to shoot good groups at that range is a goal of mine anyway. right now 40-50 feet is the furthest I've been able to shoot tight groups at with any consistency
  22. got it back from Shield (I ordered my M&P 9L with it already on there) and it dies after 3 weeks. they sent me out a new one and I decided to dial it in off of a rest . at 30 feet I was dead on . at 50 feet I got this (ones to the right were me, I'm left handed and yanked them ) at 30 feet I was dead center. So if I zero in at 30 feet should I expect to need to hold lower at longer distances and higher at shorter distances or should I re zero this at 50 and split the difference. I'm using this gun for steel plate competitions so I will be going from 7-10-20 yards regularly depending on the stages that are set up. Something like "Showdown" http://steelchallenge.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/showdown.pdf will require me to make quick adjustments on hold position as I have it set up right now. I'm a total Newb at this so help me out oh wise ones
  23. finally heard back from these guys (had to go a little higher up) I should be getting it back early next week. I'll have to make sure I put that electrical tape across the top of the mount plate. Venom has been working out OK, I am on my way to another steel plate "practice" hopefully I have it dialed in enough to use it.
