Just found my break-in notes. NATO 124g is good as is PMC 124 and Fiocchi 124. The stock recoil spring is sprung for EU (NATO) ammo.

Welcome! You will like this gun. Clean and re-lube it first. Try running fairly hot ammo in it for the first 200 rounds. It will break in nicely. Lots of threads on what folks have done to mod it out. Enjoy!!
  3. I shot the gun stock yesterday putting 200 rounds down range. Initially had a few fail to feed issues but it all went away quickly. It shoots flat but I didn't like the muzzle dip at times. Today, all I did was change the recoil assembly and shoot. W74/15lbs spring and stock FP. My TP9 SFX is set up the same way with the W74/12lbs spring and stock FP. My SFX has the FS Zombie Pro shoe too. Both guns are shooting the same ammo which is Freedom 147g HP and NC Shooters 125g RN Blue. PF is 128 and 133. Next will be a benchrest test to determine which is primary ammo for matches. The original 10 pull average on the stock Rival S trigger was 3.2 and it's good for me. The 125g Blue had the best grouping freestyle at 30' with .75-1 second splits to feel the gun and monitor the muzzle dip. I think this is where I'm going to shoot the gun for a while before thinking about other spring changes. Pic of the 125g Blue at 30' going slow as described.
  4. Texas45, Let us know how the Sprinco system works in you gun after your match!
  5. I was able to clean/lube the gun then ran it's first 200 rounds today. 100 Blazer 115g and 100 Wolf 115g. The Blazer had 4 fail to feed issues early on (all stock springs) and I anticipated that. Towards the end of the Blazer stock, everything was purring along. Switched over to the Wolf and had zero issues of any kind. This gun felt like my highly tuned CZ CTS LS-P. I left the small grip on for now and will change to the medium and the large over the weekend to see which I prefer. Others have mentioned about the frame being slick and I experienced that too. A little ProGrip on the hands and it held like glue. The return to target was amazing and easy to anticipate. I'm not a pro shooter but Canik has hit one out of the park with this pistol! I'll run a bit more 115g ammo through it before switching to my preferred 124g round. I used a mix of stock magazines and 2 which had stock springs and the +4 TF extensions. The fail to feeds occurred with the +4s and I attributed this to the springs. Time for 13 coil springs and Grams followers.
  6. Picked mine up yesterday. Darth Vader's 9mm gun.
  7. Chef, I have to say THANK YOU for posting the pics where you modified your SMC holster. I received my DS Steel this afternoon and modified my SMC holster in the areas you identified as necessary. It fits like a glove!
  8. Yep, Alan is good, very good!!

  10. Awesome, thanks for the pics!!
  11. Not without modification. Chef modified his holster with a Dremel. The frame is a bit large and it sounds like he didn't have to do much to it.
  12. Besides the one it comes with, none yet. I have a shop in town that makes them and I'll reach out and see what they can do. I have a few holsters from other guns to show them what I want using a Boss hanger/Tek Lok system. I'll definitely buy a Smoky Mountain when available.
  13. Can you take a pic of the spots you focused on? Was it a Smoky Mountain holster or other brand?
  14. I have a Black Scorpion holster for my SFX that worked on my poly Rival. It's thin Kydex and the heat gun/hot water trick may work on it. My double Kydex RHT holster may present a bit more of a challenge.
  15. Good morning!

    Bob here in Crestview, Florida.

I'm curious as to why you are selling the Rival S?  Grips too slippery, etc?  I have one on the way and would like to start out with some knowledge on what to look for.  I had a poly Rival which I sold because the SFX I have out shot it!

    Thanks for the reply,

    Bob

  16. I hear you. I sold my Rival poly because the work I did on my SFX made it shoot better. Initially without the gun, I think you are correct on the recoil springs. Hopefully I can get 5-600 rounds in it before thinking about making mods if needed.
  17. Simple. If making changes, do ONE at a time to evaluate. For example, when my gun arrives this week, I'll clean/lube it first then take it outside to my range and fire the first 100 rounds with hot 115/124 ammo. Then I'll get out the ammo I like to run and see if the gun chokes on it. I'll assess one thing at a time from there as the gun parts break in. I like the process. What works for the poly may not obtain the same result for the metal gun. This is a great forum isn't it?!
  18. Run the steel gun (put it back to stock) for 4 months non-stop then switch back to the polymer and let us know how it went. Steel is going to tune differently than the polywag. You have made a ton of changes based around the poly gun.
  19. These should help you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8PCwOJdTOM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6e-2kXB7thk&t=1234s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFDrNWNv5kY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5592nMOIbI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kH37h9jafmU&t=3s
  20. Can anyone with the new Rival S be able to measure the front sight height? Top of slide to top of front sight would be nice. I have a feeling the front sight might be too narrow for my preferred sight picture. Thanks!
  21. What recoil spring weight was giving you the higher followup shot? I have 12-13-14-15-16 ready to tune. Also, ammo brand and weight would be helpful too. Thanks for sharing the info!
  22. I have the prototype Rival holster and am very interested in what you find. Can you caliper both slides to see where the differences are? I'm sure Shane will also offer a solution soon. This is being discussed on the Canik Fanatik forum as well. Maybe we need to start a new thread about holsters for the Rival S.
  23. I ordered my Steel Dark Side from CF this afternoon. Looking forward to hearing what y'all think of the stock RSA. I've had issues running 150g Syntech in my SFX barrel. Switched to a 124/125g RN bullet and had best results at approx 131-133 PF factory ammo. I have the W74 rod/1911 Commander 14lbs spring in the SFX.
  24. Let me get my Rival S and Lok get his grips going and then we'll chat!
  25. Maybe he will accommodate you with a special request at a later time once production gets going. I would prefer the palm swell on the right and flat on the left myself for a right hand shooter.
