  1. Thanks Chef! We may have just found the problem with the mags. Canik makes them!! I think I'll modify a few more P226 mags and not worry about this "issue". Time for them to look in the mirror. So far, my Caniks have been 100%. But, I'm not married to them.
  2. Able to shoot very fast splits and have the bullets go where intended. Very flat shooting with the right combo in the back end. Follow Brekke's advice; it's my #1 setup.
  3. I have been very pleased with the stock guide rod in the 5.25 Elite. It shoots 109PF ammo so for me one less thing to spend my money one. The gun is stock.
  4. Please link the thread from the other member. Just read thru the threads, you'll find it.
  5. I'll go out on a limb........ Maybe they sent the wrong specs in to Mecgar? Somewhere in the Canik threads a member modified his mag catch hole and is having no more issues. There is a video out there on how to modify a P226 mag to fit the Caniks. I performed this on one mag and it works in my S.
  6. Black and chrome; same gun all around, different color.
  7. Copy that, I'm not new to PCC. Looking for the quickest technique to reload in the classifiers. I'll try anything then practice the heck out of it!
  8. I have heard the MBX 155 mag is real popular on the magnets and what extension length and make is the most common for reloads? Which extension is the most reliable? Thanks!
  9. Thanks Jeff! I just picked up an Elite 5.25.
  10. I found the 13, 14, 15 were all good on the W74 rod with 127-130PF ammo. 13 was really good with 118-120PF Steel Challenge ammo.
  11. $109.00. https://mbxextreme.com/index.php?page=Magazines_Optic_Canik
  12. It was early and only after 1/2 cup of coffee!
  13. From the OP's pic, is this the only gun having this issue, the poly Rival? I have TF +4s on my mags running them in a TP9 SFX and a Rival S without issues. Besides the mag base pads, are the mag catch holes somehow drilled in the wrong spot on the Canik mags? I pulled two of my mags and found a difference. Could the basepads and the .1005 difference combined be the issue? 1.1280 is the Mec-Gar and the 1.2285 is the Canik.
  14. WOW! I'm glad you are okay. I've never experienced this with any of my FS triggers. This might be something the FS folks need to know about.
  15. At least the student is happy, right? The stock RSA is the culprit. The guns will shoot fine if properly sprung from the factory. I have a friend who just bought a Rival S and he's not going to break in the RSA. He ordered the W74/15lbs spring combo with the 6.5 striker spring. One shouldn't have to do this with a "comp" gun but it is what it is.
  16. What is the OAL of your ammo? How old are your magazines? How clean are the insides of the mags? Are your followers "burr free"? Just trying to narrow it down.
  17. Has anyone experimented with trying to add the Walther Dynamic Trigger into a Rival? From what I have heard about the DPT it is very nice. It's not really a cost effective venture. If I had a friend in NW Florida running the DPT I'd be all over doing a little swapping of parts.
  18. Please let us know what they replace! I'm not having any issues at this point, 3000+ rounds. Mags are from the S (stock) and TP9 SFX (140mm TF extensions).
  19. The weaker 115g at the range is no match for a new/strong Canik recoil assembly. You must break in the RSA for the recommended ammo and round count (for me this is 350+ rounds) then the 115g should perform as advertised. Failure to follow this procedure will result in...failures. I'm on my 4th Canik and have followed this guidance on all 4 including my new MC9. Each one has performed. The guns MUST be cleaned and lubricated before the range including the magazines. Instructors should check for this too. 124g NATO is available in large quantities online. Good luck and we'll see you on the other forum too!
  20. You have to be careful and make sure you are ordering the right shoe. Be patient and they will offer the ZP for the Rival again.
  21. My vote is Smokey Mountain. He is a Canik Fanatic forum supporter.
  22. Film your shooting the pistol from the left side and see where you place your thumb. Could have accidentally bumped the lock. Also, running a Grams type follower will help too. Around the net, there seems to be more and more chatter about Blazer ammo issues.
  23. WildPete, I have tried all the way down to 12lbs and worked my way back to the 15lbs spring on a W74 guide rod. I believe every gun is going to behave a little different so the range between 14-18lbs is going to be a sweet spot. My 114-133PF ammo runs with the 15lbs spring in my S. I bought the 12-18lbs springs from Wolff. Cheap $ for spring tests! I like the recoil spring test Atlas does for tuning a 2011. My recipe is best splits grouping (6 rounds - 3 splits at 21') wins the spring test with the preferred ammo for the barrel. I ran weak 115g tuned for my PCC thru Syntech 150g. My barrel preferred a 124/125g round nose. The S ran smoother with plated/FMJ (124) versus coated bullets (125). I started with the 14 spring, worked up 1lbs to the 18, and came back to shoot the 15 again. IMHO, it is worth the time performing this test for your gun. 124/125g power factor was 130-131. For me, the best 124g was Freedom Munitions New and 125g coated was NC Shooters Blue bullet. I run factory ammo, not personal reloads. I'm sure the reloaders will have more fun!!
