  1. The Blast sheild is the angle piece in front of the CMore to sheild the lens from the muzzle blast and gasses from the ports. Right above the thumbrest, you will see the edge of the mount sticks out a little all the way down the length of the scope base. Radiused that so it would be easier on my thumb. When shooting 9 Major, they are infamous for ejection issues and setting the sight over to the side gives you more room for ejection so cases do not hit the bottom of the mount.
  2. Got a hold of them by email. Hopefully it does not rain it out. Sucks that the falling steel got cancelled.
  3. Falling steel match was cancelled. Anyone know if Richmond is still on? Willing to show up in case someone drops out since I withdrew... The steel match was closer, but now that it is cancelled, I would be willing to show up in the chance a spot opens up.
  4. What you do with your big fingers .... Sorry, couldn't resist. I build my own pistols, but really considering an Atlas.
  5. Try an offset mount like a Cheelie. Does not block your view like a sideways mount.. got to keep my slideracker as well.
  6. Thanks! Was wondering about the PF as I have heard some places limit power factor on steel. I registered, sounds like fun.
  7. I went to almost 180 pf... Drilled 2 popple holes and it is a different animal. Should have done it much sooner.
  8. Never shot a Falling steel match. What are the rules?
  9. I did it myself in my mill. Not hard to do, could be done in a drill press.
  10. Anyone on here shoot this match? Will be in the area this coming weekend and want to shoot. I tried to register but got Wait listed. Do they generally have a few drop out? Really bummed....
  11. Back from the range and Chrono. Took 7.9 great HS6 to go 1360 with a 124 blue Bullet. 1355 lowest and 1367 highest out of 10 shots. I'LL keep it!
  12. I had the other thread awhile back. I could never get 100% Got about 1 in 200 or about one a match. I made an offset mount that moved the cmor over .225" of an inch. That thread is in the gunsmithing threads. Ejector profile to keep brass from hitting the hood low and bouncing back into the CMore as well as extractor tension we're the biggest help.
  13. How dirty does y'all CMore lenses get?
  14. Nice brace of pistols! I did mine with the first hole about 13/16 from the muzzle opening. I wanted the Jets to have as much time to vent as I could. Hopefully I can Chrono it this weekend.
  15. I did two 3/16 holes. Was really skeptical, now I am excited!
  16. Well, I decided to popple. After building my first open pistol using a Brazos Thundrcomp SX2 Trubore, I was never thrilled with it. Always hear about shooting flat etc and after loading to nearly 180 PF using HS6, AA7 and 3N38 ,then up to 175 with auto comp, I never got it what I thought was good enough. Tried different springs and settled on HS6 and an 8 lb spring. I just could not slow down on the longer shots and would get miss or a wide shot. I know practice plays a lot into this, but I want to shoot fast !! I added 2 popple holes and it honestly made a difference! Was worried about accuracy loss, but there was none I could tell. Went to the local indoor range with some different loads and ended up at 7.8 grains HS6. When it quits raining I will Chrono. Should have poppled sooner.
  17. I did use a Dawson blast sheild. Got to take a ball end mill and put a concave radius on the underside of the overhang above the thumbrest. Offsets the CMore .225"
  18. I run an 8. Keep extra springs in your range bag. The problem with weaker springs is you could run into failures to strip a round and fully chamber it when springs get weaker. Murphy says that will be in a match.. First sign of failure to fully chamber, throw in a new spring. They are cheap.
  19. I have a Brazos Thundrcomp. Been from 165-175+ on PF. I have yet to see the "zero" dot movement....it does stay in the glass better in the low 170's. Don't forget about recoil springs as well. That makes more difference in my dot movement than power factor...
  20. That's the one I plan on attending. Saturday.... Don't know why I typed Sunday....
  21. Will be in Harrisonburg VA next week and would like to find a place to get in some practice. Going to the Richmond match Sunday, but would like to find somewhere within an hour of Harrisonburg to practice? Any one near Harrisonburg into USPSA?
  22. Built my open gun on a Grizzly bench top mill. Trip top, lightening holes, everything....all manual! Just keep good notes and layout prints.
