I reloaded 9mm ammo on my Super 1050 manually and never lubed my brass. No Problems. When I added a Mark 7 1050 Pro to my press, I followed the instructions and started to lubricate brass before reloading. The press and drive run flawlessly and I really love it. However, getting the lube off the cases is a pain. I tried tumbling finished rounds in corn cob media and ended up with media stuck in the hollow points of the bullets. Also tried processing lubed brass and then tumbling the sized, decapped and swaged cases in corn cob media to get the lube off. This resulted in media stuck in primer pockets and flash holes. Usually that's not a problem because the decapping punch knocks that stuff out when I'm loading. For the first time today, I broke a decapping punch on something stuck in a processed case. This method almost doubles the work. Is it really necessary to lube 9mm brass for my machine with the drive? If so, what are others doing to get the lube off?

I'm loading 115 gr MG JHP over 3.8 gr of N320 @ 1.130". 109 power factor. Nice soft accurate load. Anyone with experience with a load like this now shooting the 100 gr Atlanta arms ammo? I ask because they are both about the same power factor.

I have had the same issue with 10 rd MBX mags. Bottom two rounds get jammed and the mag will feed a couple of rounds then stop. When you take the mag out all remaining rounds are loose in the body except for the jammed ones. I talked to John at Speedshooter about the problem and he suggested cleaning the mag and hen running a silicone impregnated gun cleaning cloth through it. No more problems since doing this.

Did your friend ever get back to you with drawings?

I have an Infinity Open gun in 9 mm which does not have any barrel ports, just the conventional 2 hole comp. I've read some older threads here on this topic expressing conflicting views regarding whether or not ports are desirable. I haven't shot this gun yet so I can't tell you how it shoots as is but would like to hear current thinking with regard to having SVI port the barrel or not.

I'm looking for a clean 9 minor load for falling steel. I have a good supply of N320 powder so I tried 4.4 gr of that under a 115 gr Montana Gold JHP @1.142 COAL. This is the maximum charge weight from Vihtavouri load data. The ammo chronoed @ 125 PF which is way below the 136,600 predicted by their data. I used my STI DVC open gun to shoot over the chrono. Viht data is for 4" uncompensated barrel and DVC open is 5" compensated. The ammo cycles in both my DVC open and DVC steel guns but the empties just dribble out of the guns and the slide wont lock back on the last round on either of them. I bumped the powder up to 4.6 gr and will try that tomorrow. Before I go through the process of bumping the charge up a little at a time and checking for pressure signs as I go I'm curious about others experience using this powder / bullet combination. How far over Viht. max recommendation are people running?

You should be running 8# spring with major ammo in that gun. High slide velocity is probably what's causing shells to come back at you.

I found some old threads on the forum in which people were using 95 gr .380 bullets over high charges of HS6 for steel challenge. Is this still favored for this application? I shoot steel plates at a regular man on man indoor match all Winter here in CT. Plates are standard 8" round at about 15 yards. Do the light bullets have enough energy to knock these down?

2.5 gr Clays with 160 gr Bayou RN for 38 short colt and 3.7 gr WSF with 147 gr Bayou RN 9mm. Both are somewhat smokey.

I recently started using Bayou 160 gr .358 dia for my S&W 627. A friend recommended these which is what caused me to switch from BBI bullets. Performance / accuracy seems to be fine but I notice that they are smokey. Never saw this with BBI bullets. Anyone else with similar experience?

After some experimentation I settled on 124 gr PD JHP over 6.4 gr of HS6 @ 1.165 COAL. This yields a power factor of 130 in my DVC Steel gun and 141 in the DVC open. Surprisingly, the open gun runs 100% with this load and is very pleasant (flat) to shoot.

I had exactly the same problem. Changed my sight to RTS2 and now use an 8# spring for major and minor loads. Gun runs anything over 145 PF flawlessly now. Shoots flatter than my DVC Steel gun with 145 - 150 PF loads.

I got my order of .38 SC brass yesterday and made up 100 rounds using load data from an excellent local shooter which he described as "bunny fart" loads :160 gr Bayou RN, 2.5 gr Clays, 1.2 COAL. I borrowed a friend's 627 since mine isn't back from TK yet and shot it today with my ammo.Needless to say, this was a very pleasant load to shoot and quite accurate @ 15 yds. However, I did have some trouble in loading the gun. Rounds were loaded in TK moon clips made for Starline brass. The chambers on this cylinder appeared to have little or no chamfer and the loaded clip seemed to hang up on the front edge of the cases. I took the rounds in the clip apart and plunked each one in the cylinder. They all fell in freely. I used my 9mm crimp die to crimp this ammo and crimped them a little more than I usually crimp 9mm auto ammo. I'm hesitant to over crimp lead or coated bullets because of detrimental affect on accuracy. It looks like more crimp might make loading easier but I don't know if this is a good practice with revolvers. I expect my 627 to have well chamfered chambers when I get it back. Is it better to wait and see how my present loads work in that gun or increase the amount of crimping?

Should have mentioned that I would perfer to shoot 124 gr JHP but also have a supply of 125 gr Bayou coated 125 gr.

I'm looking for a load @ about 150 power factor using 9mm 124 gr bullet / HS6 to shoot steel with in my STI DVC Open gun. I was running with a PD 115 JHP / 7.5 gr HS6 (PF = 151) but have since standardized in the 124 gr bullet. Maybe one of you guys can save me some time id you have a favorite load that works.

Eric, This load is right at 130 power factor in my DVC Steel gun (4.25" barrel). A long barrel will get it over 165? Thanks for your help.

Can the same 38SC brass cases be used in 929 and 627 guns interchangeably? I know that 38SC works in both guns but is it necessary to keep brass fire formed in 929 cylinder separate from that fired in 627?

I'm just sticking my toe into the PCC water. As a result, a lot of the dialog in this thread is Greek to me. I've decided to buy a complete Taccom upper to use with my CT legal lower. It seems that there is a consensus here with respect to what works best in a particular configuration. Can someone be kind enough to summarize what parts I need to buy to make one of these uppers work reliably. I do reload and would like to use my pistol ammo in this setup. For my DVC Steel gun I'm running 124 gr Precision Delta JHP over 6.4 gr HS6 @ 1.165 COAL.

Does the Taccom unit run better with Colt or Glock mags? Is there a preferred magazine adapter for a standard AR 15 lower?

What is the benefit of the ramped Taccom barrel compared to the regular barrel?
