  1. My PACT MkIV XP must have a tone above my hearing range but within my lab's. She generally perks her ears about .1s before I hear the timer. So... when I do dryfire draws I have to face away from her, or she tips me off too soon and I move early. If I took her to the matches, I could get a .1s jump on El Prez... Can I borrow your dog for the Single Stack Nationals, Agnus Dei Charity Match, and Area II?
  2. My opinion is to continue to shoot right handed if that is how you are most comfortable. It's always a great idea to work on your support side shooting though. I really believe the eye dominance issue is a huge factor in this. It should never be a problem to have a strong support side. You may have to work at it but it's not a problem.
  3. It's an okay relaod if you think super frikkin' fast and smooth is a good thing. I personally think that my way of slow, sloppy, and uncoordinated is much better. Haha!
  4. I stopped shooting for a few years and even allowed my membership to expire and my classifiers weren't deleted. When I rejoined they were there.
  5. Hey, nothing wrong with that choice. It can be a really good pistol and he can shoot Limited or download to L10. The good thing is you tried the gun out first.
  6. "Single Stack Holsters Holster rules for the USPSA Single Stack Division will continue as written through 2006. The BOD felt it was in the best interest of the growth of 1911 Single Stack Division to not change any rules before 2007 if at all possible. The BOD is gathering data throughout 2006 to revise the rules for 2007 to keep the purpose and design of 1911 Single Stack Division from being diluted. Expect changes in 2007. Michael Voigt USPSA President." Therefore the Bladetech DOH is legal for this and all USPSA Provisional Single Stack matches until further notice by the USPSA BOD.
  7. I'm not real sure where you're coming from but I didn't read anything about blaming the 1911 Society or USPSA. It really doesn't matter who approached who but the registration form specifically says, and I quote "Rules: USPSA Provisional Single Stack Rules Apply." The only issue is that the DOH was said to be unwanted by Mr. Heinie and if that's the case then it is going against the Single Stack Provisional Rules set forth by the BOD of USPSA as this holster IS LEGAL. This is not a knock on Mr Heinie as he has been a great contributor to the shooting sports as a whole and he is appreciated. It's just that with accepting the rules of USPSA, no matter who approached who, rules can't be disregarded because of personal choice. As GeorgeInNePa wrote, USPSA will have a decision made and posted soon.
  8. I purchased a Bladetech DOH specifically for this match. I know I am one lowly shooter but I read the Single Stack rules before purchasing it and now I can't because of 1 person's thoughts. I have the utmost respect for him and for his contributions as I'm sure he has contributed more to the sport than I have or maybe ever will but this is a bit much. THE DOH HOLSTER IS WITHIN THE USPSA SINGLE STACK RULES and that should be the end of it. How can he merge with USPSA and ignore the rules? What if he said only 7 round magazines are allowed? Where does USPSA and the shooters draw the line? I understand that its merely a holster issue but it is an issue and there's no way around it. As I said before THE DOH HOLSTER IS WITHIN THE USPSA SINGLE STACK RULES and that should be the end of it.
  9. I agree with Steve M. and Jake. I used Steve Andersen's dry-fire mag change drills without the mag for a short while and in a match I found myself not fully depressing the mag release button sometimes. I personally need at least half of my practice to have mags falling so I altered it and I use mags at least half the time. Steve A.'s book has been great for me though.
  10. Approximately how many slots are still available for Fri.? Thanks.
  11. The match is in Mesa and it's fairly close to Scottsdale but not very close to Prescott. You can check out the Rio Solado website also. www.riopractical.com
  12. Welcome to the best shooting forum on the web! As for CR Speed holsters...you can usually find good deals through brownells.com or dawsonprecision.com.
  13. I have to agree with Tokarev. How can you argue for one and not the other? Who honestly thinks that adding a light rail is going to give any real advantage? As long as there is a weight limit then what does it hurt? How is a light rail any more of an advantage than a S&A magwell that can help speed up your mag change? Its a 100% valid argument. If the "it's not on the original design" argument is used then why do we allow beavertails, fiber optics, adjustable sights, magwells, different guide rods, etc...? I don't even own a 1911 with a light rail but I have NO problem with them in the SS division.
  14. Where is the Racaza reload? I tried and I couldn't find it. Thanks.
  15. Dawsonprecision.com, brownells.com, and shootersconnection.com only carry the combo as far as I can tell. You could maybe try contacting each one of these or CR Speed or Rescomp to see if they'll just get you the inner. Jason
  16. There's nothing wrong with the PARA but an Edge will/should require less additions or gunsmithing. As for a better deal than $1800+....There are a few places to get them but you can get a new one from brazoscustom.com for $1687. They're not the only place to get them though. I've seen retailers carry them new for $1644 at a gun show. You might even check the USPSA classifieds or the classifieds here on BE's site and maybe get a used one cheaper. You can shoot in L10 and Limited with this but not Production. If money is an issue then the PARA is fine.
  17. Not to just plug Steve but take a look at the videos on Steve's website. He's got a ton of videos of himself and other shooters. It's @ andersonshooting.com. Steve, I hope it's okay that I put your site here. Jason
  18. Thanks Steve. Those are excellent ideas. This is going in the direction I was hoping it would. I have my own ideas but I really like to pick the brain of other shooters. I got your book awhile back Steve and it's a huge help. I am reading Saul Kirsch's "Thinking Practical Shooting" right now but I will try Bansham's book next. I've heard great things about it. As for squadding with great shooters, I am at a great club for that. I shoot at Rio Solado in Mesa and our club has Leatham, Hobdell, Burkett comes around, and tons of other great shooters. Thanks for all the ideas from everyone.
  19. This is exactly what I was looking for. I appreciate the advice. Thanks to everyone but especially these last few responses.
  20. Big thumbs up for Steve's book. I've used it in my dry firing and it's been great for me.
  21. Shred, that quote is dead on. It's simple but kinda deep. Thanks for all the responses. My shooting is coming along pretty good but I need to work on my mental game...or lack thereof.
  22. I liked the top 16 format you used for the shootoff too. I clearly didn't get to shoot it but I had a blast watching. Three of us rode up in 1 vehicle and two of us shot in it (not me). See you at the range soon Steve. Jason M.
  23. Without a doubt I'd choose to shoot with the SS. My shooting friends wouldn't mind at all. The trick for me would be to not try to outshoot my current abilities. I feel like I could learn enormously from watching them and communicating with them.
  24. I'm sure this may have been covered before but I wanted to get some feedback. At local matches I never really feel any pressure or feel nervous in any way but at larger matches I sometimes go in putting too much on myself or expecting too much of myself and I sometimes fubar stages because of this and it takes me at least a stage or two (sometimes more) to get my head straight. I know I should treat all matches the same but this seems to be easier said than done. What are some things that you guys do to condition yourself and keep it on an even keel? Jason
