HighTechRedneck, what kind of shooting do you do? If you want good quality brass, try Lapua. Then you might not have to do all the case prep. depending on what you shoot. even
  3. Well, I see that only US shooters from the US has posted, so I'll let you guys know what I'm planning on shooting this summer. Årsmöteskjutningen, Sweden Euro Med Cup, France Cops Cup XI, Sweden Nordic Rifle Championship, Denmark? Nordic Open Championship, Norway Czech National Championship, (maybe) Nordic Standard Championship, Finland Swedish National Championship Norwegian National Championship Norwegian National Rifle Championship and various smaller matches in Norway. Phil S, In SA it didn't sound like you would be doing any shooting at all this year. By the looks of it, I guess things turned of better for you than expected. Good luck! even
  4. tried to post a picture, but failed. (Edited by Even at 12:44 am on Mar. 2, 2003)
  5. Vince, I would like to know when I have changed a position. Yesterday I shot a stage where you had to stand in Box A and shoot 5 targets, 10 rounds. Standing upright I could only see 4 targets, but I could shoot all 5 targets without moving my feet. I shot it in 3.24 sec while leaning left to get the fifth target, I had a slow draw and the longest split was 0.22 sec. This was between the 10th and 11th shot, a makeup shot on the 4th target. Did I change my position? even
  6. Guys, how do you interpet this? View is simple enough, but when have you changed your position? even
  7. Those of you who shoot a 1911 something in 9x19 major, what do you use for comps, holes in the barrel etc.? I'm about to get myself a SVI IMM in 9x19, but I'm not sure if I can have all the holes in it. I must use VihtaVuori powder and 120 gr or heavier bullets. FMJ, CMJ, HP etc. even
  8. Vince, so with the simplified rules, I can make lightening cuts in my slide? even
  9. I just can't belive this is for real, or is it...?
  10. Julien, when I shoot BUL, I also had 19 rnd magazines. I modified some basepads and could do reloads with 19 rnds. Now when shooting SVI, I have to settle for 18 rnds, also reloadable. Did you check out the mags that Alex Chang and the other guys from Brasil used (in SA)? They had custom made (in Brasil) 19 rnd magzines for SVI/STI. I think Denis was going to get some of them. Are you shooting STI now??? even
  11. EvilPJ, The last 4 Norwegian Rifle Championships (the 2 last were also Nordic Championships) has been won with an AR-15 type rifle with the Zeiss Varipoint 1,1-4x24 mounted. The only reason for me to change sights, would be if I were to shoot Limited. even
  12. Jerome, These were the winners: Open - Eric G Standard - Mike V Modefied - Austin S Production - David S Revolver - Jerry M Well, I made it back yesterday. Not much to add to what the others have said. It was a great match, and I liked it much more then the last one. I again had the pleasure of shooting on the same squad as Julien and the other guys from France. But in addition to this I had the pleasure of spending the week with Phil and the rest of the Kiwis on the same squad. Hope to see all of you sometime next year! Detlef, hope we get to meet again, and not just so briefly. I'll try and make it to the US next year, maybe for the 3-gun I didn't make this year. Guess I'll see you there Patrick... even
  13. How about that guys (Phil and Julien), we're on the same squad! When do you guys arrive? Where are you staying? I'll arrive in Johannesburg Wednesday morning, going directly to Pietersburg and I'm staying at Holiday Inn. See you next week! even
  14. IMO, for IPSC rifle, single stage triggers are the way to go. JP is a very good choice, and the only one I know of... What do you think Kelly? How about you Bruce? even
  15. Thanks guys! Kelly, you should really consider taking a trip over here. Last two years Nationals have been very good. This was the fourth time I shoot the rifle nationals. I shoot the first one in 1998 with a borrowed Colt AR-15 that didn’t work. Didn’t shoot in 1999, but came back with working equipment in 2000. The matches previous to 2001 didn’t have as many stages as the latter. Hopefully they will continue to make them as good as the last two years, and would be worth the trip. I actually decided not to shoot the Nordic Championship a week before the match, because too much was going on and I felt that I didn’t have time to prepare at all. I felt I had to spend the time I had to prepare for WSXIII. I had some problems with my pistol and needed to solve it. But last Thursday I just had to send the pistol to a smith to have him fix it, because I would not have time this previous week since I’ve been away hunting. So when I went to sight in my hunting rifle on Thursday evening I brought along my AR and the ammo I had left over from last year (69 gr. Sierra MK, 25gr N-140) and some LC 81. My problem was that I didn’t have enough of the Sierras and the LC 81 didn’t group well enough past 100 meters. Luckily there was only a vertical spread between them, and I could easily adjust between stages depending on which ammo I needed. 40 rounds of sight-in and I was ready to rock . I’ve shot about 140-150 rounds with my rifle since last years match, you may find it hard to believe, but it’s the truth. You asked about the match, well the stages were very good. Only details should have been done different, like a couple of fault lines just waiting to give shooters procedurals when shooting prone. The weather was just beautiful both days, sunny and warm (but nothing like AZ ). I started out on stage 12 shooting solid, and just continued doing that. It was a good match for me, I got a procedural on stage 10 (foot fault, poor design), a miss on stage 6 (swinger at 100m) and a slow time on stage 1 because of a very unstable shooting position. Stages and results can be found here: http://www.triggerfreeze.com Kelly, maybe I’ll see you over here next year or what? even (Edited by Even at 6:36 pm on Aug. 30, 2002)
  16. Would that be a "Short Course" maybe... According to the 14th ed. I have not shot a "Speed Shoot" in three years... even
  17. mcoliver, a 1911 Govt. will not fit the box with 10 rnd mags. in .45 ACP. It is possible to custom make some 9 rnd. mags that will just fit the box. even
  18. Phil, I've never used that exact combo. I started out in 1998 with G19 and those mags. Shooting minor sucks I shoot a Production match in early May, and lost it because I was to careless with the points. I learned my lesson, and will shoot an old G17 in the Nordic Production Championship in two weeks...
  19. We had a great match! Good stages, good shooters, great weather, everything on schedule and a nice prize table ($ 6000++). As the MD I guess I should stop bragging now... Eric Grauffel and Saul Kirsch came and shoot with us, and showed everyone how it's done in Open Division. For those interested, more info at http://www.triggerfreeze.com even
  20. Phil, 140mm will be too long. With the low factory sights a CPMI +pad will give you 20+1 and fit snug in the box. even
  21. Vince, don't forget Robert Söderström at WSXII, #5 in Standard Division with a Glock 35. BTW, he's using a 1911 now... Even
  22. Well they failed to give the mike I had on stage 1. Exept from that, my scores were correct. But there could, and most likely are more errors... Even
  23. Flexmoney, you are right, even some of the french told us the same. Even
  24. Julien, despite the fact that they could not produce any results, it was a fun match with good stages. I had a lot of fun shooting with Julien and the rest of the squad. But the result thing really put a scratch in the total impression. I also think they should have everything done in English in the future, especially when 16 nations were supposed to attend. Both Jerome and Julien are great guys! Just meeting them made the trip worthwhile! Julien also kick ass with his blaster, and if we ever see the final results, I’m sure you will see that he kicked mine. I know the answer to why they don’t use MSS for scoring. It’s quite simple, they are French and very few in France speak or read/write English. MSS is only available in English… Julien, we will meet again at the WSXIII, and hopefully will Detlef and Phil be there… Even
