Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I would like to play around with a red dot type of sight for my Springfield XD40 Tactical. I would just like to know what my options are for mounts and any other recommendations you may have. I'm not necessarily looking to turn it into a race gun but I'm enjoying the gun and I would like to play around a bit TC
  2. Someone on another forum mentioned these holsters and is very pleased with it. He says it's as fast as any hes' tried (in Limited Ten) Brownells carries them and they're cheap ($79.00!). Has anyone here had any experience with them? trky chsr
  3. I was just talking to a gunsmith about a similar problem I have and he said a good way to tell if it is the extractor is to chamber a live round (at the range) remove the mag and fire the round. If the empty drops on your feet it is the extractor, if it ejects normaly than it is something else (recoil spring perhaps?).
  4. Brian you mentioned somewhere here that you use transparent tape (like scotch tape). Is this correct or do you actually use electrical tape or duct tape?
  5. Just curious if any of you are archers. I find a lot of similarities between archery and pistol shooting. For example while I was practicing with my recurve tonight I found I could"call the shot". At the moment I released the string I knew whether the shot was good or not. Now if only I could do it quick enough to improve my IPSC scores!
  6. My recoil spring needs to be changed so I'll be buying a new recoil spring. Now factory weight for my 1911A1 loaded in 45ACP is 16lbs but looking at this website the trend seems to be to use a lighter spring and shock buffs ( I use this gun for IPSC, not defence ). However in other forums people tend to go to a heavier spring with or without shock buffs. Could someone please explain the theorys' of lighter vs heavier and the advantages/disadvantages of each. As you may guess I am new at this and have only shot a couple of IPSC matches. Thanks trky chsr
  7. Sorry , yes I am looking at 10 round 1911 45 mags.
  8. Are these any good? Being a budget minded shooter I have found these quite a bit cheaper than Wilson or McKormick mags and they have a lifetime warrenty.
  9. This is a great topic! What exactly are your various dry fire routines ie: how & what exactly do you practice?
  10. Thanks Duane. I have the same thing happen occasionaly with my 45 Springfield and it drives me nuts. trky chsr
  11. What are your favorite mags, particularly 10 rounders. Also what is the life expectancy of a mag. trky chsr
