  1. My advice would be to build your own, if you are capable of doing so. You will then have the satisfaction of knowing that it was you who put it together. If you have to buy one then my first choice would be the JP followed by the CK.
  2. I did get the cart before the horse, but I've got over two hundred rounds through it now and it's working like a charm. Bad ammo was partly to blame. I have a sackful of once-fired cases with very dirty primer pockets and many of them are seating to the high side so with the less powerful 6.5 striker spring I was getting lot's of FTFs. I reinstalled the OEM striker spring and no more FTF.
  3. Like all the rest, no. I removed it from my QC10 to save some weight. I think I gained a quarter of an ounce.
  4. Thanks. I appreciate it.
  5. I got mine from their website.
  6. I need some help. Took the SFx to the range with the new Freedomsmith trigger installed. 11 pound recoil spring. And a 6.5 pound Glock sear spring. All but 5 out of a hundred rounds were misfires. Went home. Cut one coil off the OEM sear spring and put a Glock flat coil 17 pound recoil spring in. It seems the 11 pound spring would let the slide sag when held vertically. I cut 2 and 1/2 coils of the new recoil spring.spring. By-the-way, the Freedomsmith trigger is awesome. Went back to the range this morning and the gun functioned fine except for three misfires out of 100 rounds. Accuracy was excellent. Trigger pull is about 4 and a quarter pounds. My question is: Will the misfires go away after the gun breaks in, and what can I do to knock a pound off the trigger pull? My primers are Winchesters.
  7. It doen't work right, anyway. Factory mags won't seat properly with it on.
  8. I don't worry about it. I run the gun as I built it. I certainly don't want to add weight in favor of a different feel in balance, and it's almost impossible to remove weight. Usually though, when I put one together, the gun feels a wee bit nose heavy and that's fine.
  9. As with all guns, check the magazine for proper function. If the mag is good then go down the checklist. Extractor, ejector, etc. You'll find the problem.
  10. I load to get 130 (give or take), but all my barrels are 16 inches and that requires the least amount of powder to make it. The gun had the port at 10 inches. I used a Taccom 6 and 1/2 inch ported extension. By-the-way. I had forgotten that you were using a CMMG carbine. It would naturally have a softer recoil impulse than a true blow-back (like mine) because of the delay afforded by the bolt. Therefore I offer half an apology.
  11. That is a beautiful gun. Very nice attention to detail. I built a similar set-up, but with a 10 inch barrel. It worked fine. The dot was a bit jumpy because of the increase in powder that is required to make PF in the shorter barrels, but nothing I couldn't live with. Again. Well done. ?
  12. I've used both and my preference is the JP. It's polished SS so the buffer goes in and out of it a little smoother than the Sprinco so there's less noise and vibration. Performance wise they are about identical.
  13. Like you, I'm using the 147 grain (either flat point or round nose works) bullet with 3.0 grains of N320 underneath. PF is 130. Accuracy is excellent, and recoil is a tiny bit milder than the 124s. I can tell no difference in my split times with either bullet. But then I'm old.
  14. All I can say is don't get the one made by Stoner. When you put the shoulder strap over your shoulder the whole thing wants to turn upside-down. Mine went into the trash bin. They are legal, by-the-way.
  15. The 7 and 1/2 ounce buffer is an excellent choice, but I think the spring is not. You may have more success with the JP 308 Carbine spring, or the Sprinco (orange) spring. This is the set-up I use and reliability and function is 100%, and the dot movement is minimal.
  16. I think the nose touching the charge handle is a tad close, but these guns are small by nature. You're up close and personal when use them anyway. I don't understand the shotgun comparison either.
  17. This one will be using 124 grain bullets at 130 pf. Which spring do you suggest?
  18. I'm in the process of changing my LOP. My new gun was built using the Magpul Enhanced Receiver Extension which measures 7.3 inches in length. Using the gun puts my nose just touching the charge handle. A bit disconcerting during recoil. I have ordered an new MERE that measures 7.8 inches. This should give me a little more leg room (or nose, as it were) when shooting.
  19. Ammo is no problem although I'll have to dig out some old chrono data. ?
  20. I just bought a new TP9SFx after reading some of the reports here. They sounded good and the price seemed right from Grabagun. This one comes with a Vortex red dot already installed. I also purchased a Freedomsmith trigger, a reduced power plunger spring, a Glock 34 tungsten guide rod, and an 11 pound recoil spring, a magwell, and a 6.5 Ghost striker spring. I plan on using it in CO division. Is there anything else I need? Thanks, Mike.
  21. Memphis, you've posted some good stuff on this forum. No doubt about it. But, I had to call you on this one. When I say my felt recoil increased you have to realize it was not by much. And the increase in dot bounce was equally small. Nevertheless there was an increase and the guys here need to know that there is always two sides to every story. Especially the newbies like our OP friend here. Nothing is etched in stone, especially when it comes to these damnable PCCs.
  22. Calling those guys idiots is no way to get a discount on your new short-stoke kit.
  23. Can you believe that guy. He's trying to sell something that will shorten the stroke of your AR, which will increase the recoil of your gun, by adding on to a device that's supposed to reduce the recoil of your gun. Only in America.
