  1. "Thou shalt not draw gun, unless instructed"... bummer too.
  2. Or is this an RO Test question? I've never seen it, yet. But if they declared CO before the Match starts and meets requirements for Div. and also after "Make Ready". Optic falling off during COF, I would be hard pressed to move them to Open for that particular stage. Now if they claim Prod. Div and during a Stage and see they are using 141 Mags fully loaded, then yes, move to Open. Waiting for Troy to arrive....
  3. The competitor does have 2 mins to correct the problem (5.7.4) and continue the COF. Continue as you stated without the Optic attached, that is fine, as long there is no malfunction or problems operating the gun. 5.7.2 In the event that a competitor’s firearm malfunctions after the Start signal, the competitor may safely attempt to correct the problem and continue the course of fire. During such corrective action, the competitor must keep the muzzle of the firearm pointing safely downrange at all times. Now if they come to the line on the next Stage without the mounted optic, that is a different story. As an RO I would ask the Shooter what their plan is and work with them. In CO they are required to have an Elec. Optical Sight, and explain D12. They can go back and try to fix the Optic Mount or continue without it, which would cause them to be moved to Open Div. D7 13 and D7 21.
  4. Is there a finish on the gun, hard to tell? Looking good.
  5. Hey Mike, I made it on my PM25. 7071 Alum. and Cerakoted. I'll show ya on the 27th.
  6. I'm on my 4th Open gun in 4 years (hopefully my last). The last one I had was a Czechmate. If you like the 1911, as I do now, go with it. If it was 2016 again, I would start from scratch. Anything used, you never know what you will get. Brazo makes a fitted slide/frame/barrel/slide racker short block for around 2200.00. I wish it was 2007, that's the choice I would have made. Then get the parts to finish the frame/trigger/comp, etc... http://www.1911store.com/Shortblock-BCG-Open-lightning-5--LDC-fram-Unique-slide-Bull-barrel-1-1.aspx Currently have a used CK Arms frame with a new Brazo Slide/KKM barrel/Bedell Comp/Cheely Steel Grip and Aftec Extractor. Everything else is used, but works good. You can get these new parts off the shelf, but there might be some machine work that is needed. If you decide to have the slide cut, it would take less time then a complete build. Or have a Comp installed and reamed, same difference. If you have the skills, you might get most of the parts to fit yourself and very little has to be sent out to be machined. I was a Machinist for 16yrs and have a PM25 Mill, so I have a step forward and able to fit the slide/frame/barrel and comp. It's something you have to decide, what road will you take? This a pic of the finished CK Arms/Brazo/KKM/Bedell/Cheely Open gun I have today. I also used GunKote and baked it for an hour in my oven.

    Primers

Scavengers Probably going online to sell at $145 a thousand.
  8. Going weak hand takes some practice. Open here too and sometimes, it gets lost. I usually practice weak hand often and try to capture in my "minds eye" the position of the gun related to my hand. I wish there was a natural quick answer.
  9. Power Director. Whatever you get, just learn it as much as you can. So many programs out there and once I get used to a certain system, I find it gets easier, just takes time. As a CNC Machinist I used Mastercam since the 90's and once switched over to one of their newer versions. It was clunky and I gave a good year to learn. Could get it to work, but found the older MC program a breeze. Ditched the new and back to the old. Find one that works for you and above all get your volumes correct. Too often videos posted have volume levels set too low for voices and too high for background.
  10. I'd first figure out why are you getting the base of your 9mm brass to bulge. Is this after you resize all your brass or after you load a round?
  11. Sounds like you both can shoot. Hope you figure it out. Ammo maybe?
  12. Hard to say. Could be 2-20 things going on. What gun? Ammo? Sight? Condition of the gun? Is it possible he is trading dominant eye to weak eye? I would bench rest at 10 yards, you take 10 shots then let him shoot 10.
  13. Awesome, hope it works out for ya. In all seriousness, I was merely kidding around. Some uses 5 magnets, its all good.
  14. Bwhahahaha...that is a good one. Lots of metal poles, chairs, rods, doorways that can capture that "5 Magnet Guy"....LOL
  15. Oh Ya, just one at the 12 O'clock for my Open Gun Rig. Usually if there are unloaded table starts, I grab 2 mags from the barrel, slap 1 on the mag the other in the gun. Sometimes I reload from the magnet. To each his own.
  16. That actually would be funny. See a belt with 5 magnets, see them fumble around trying to pull a mag. Or, too weak of magnets and drop their mags running the course...lol. Time will tell.
  17. I sure hope we don't go down this road where, "Dude has 5 magnets and no pouches on his belt" Road. Please say it ain't gonna happen. I hope not, actually think it's faster to pull from a pouch then a magnet.
  18. Loctite 620 and all the way around the barrel threads. Clearance is important so the Comp and Slide don't hit when locked up. You can hand file the Comp to fit to the slide. Also you will need to Bore the inside diameter of the Comp too with a Comp Reamer (wait 24hrs). You don't want a bullet hitting the Comp. When I replaced mine, I used a Propane Torch to heat it, that's how well 620 works.
  19. These are good reads, keep 'em coming. My first Match ever. I knew some rules, but for sure not all. After my first stage I went over to the "work area" (Safety Table) and was checking my gun, all looked good. Pulled out my ammo and started loading my mags . An RO that I knew came over and politely stated "You can't handle ammo at the Safety Tables, you could get a DQ". Tossed everything away fast as I could and beat feet outta there.
