I ran through a thousand SPM CCI's in the spring loading TG and Rainer plated bullets (loaded short in a CZ TS). They were a few feet per second faster than standard small pistol primers, but only on average. Some of the slower SPM rounds were the same velocity (with one or two slightly less) as the SPP loads.

The trigger design in question was on pre 1982 rifles. Rather lame that CNBC is 28 years late on reporting and investigating...check Google there have been tons of pixels burned writing about this subject on several gun blogs.

I've run both the CZ Custom base pads and the Taylor Freelance base pads with success. You may need to file the top edges of the TF base pads just a bit to clear the mag well. The steel guide rod was a big step up in reliability.

Thin aluminum grips, mag well, steel guide rod, base pads, and Grams mag guts (FSK 9-11 works). If you are adventuresome, machine (or Dremel) the forged checking off frame. Shooting factory ball at 180++ power factor the TS is a great setup with only those changes. Running handloads at 168 to 172 PF you may want to entertain some serious efforts to reduce the weight of the frame. That is really a subjective call however...
