  1. Underlug is correct, Smith discontinued 4" 610's at the end of 2004 and there may be a few on closeout at the wholesale level, but I doubt it. As for the 5" 610 it was discontinued about 3 years ago and very difficult to find. The 646 was a parts gun S&W made up with a pile of leftover frames (or was it leftover TI cylinders) and there were only a few hundred of them with 4" barrels only. The 610 series was a terribly slow seller and the IDPA rule change really killed the tiny demand that had exsisted. Check around the IDPA related classifieds for a used 646 and check with revolver smiths about fitting up a steel cylinder.
  2. Cool Shooting Season = Halloween weekend match to about the Ides of March
  3. Concealment garment, in matches I run anyhow, can be jacket, vest or shirt. This time of year I try not to require concealment in our Alabama heat/humidity, I run more standards and off body retrieval COF's. Anyhow, to more precisely answer your question make sure whatever you wear is long enough to cover the holster. A cheap tropical pattern shirt does very well in the summer. Practice your drawstroke from concealment at home Thursday and Friday night before the match. Keep your thumb flagged, like a hitchhiker, and pull your strong hand back just under your pectoral muscle to move the shirt away from the gun for a clean draw. That's a more economical move than trying to throw the shirt away from the gun and then draw. Hope ya'll have fun.
  4. 1st generation Kimber Custom, Ed Brown grip safety, Wilson ambi, Wilson full length guide rod, S&A mag well, Dawson narrow FO front site, and assorted small Dawson parts. It's currently wearing Ahrend's ebony skip checkered grips. Had the front strap stippled and the whole gun finished with Birdsong's Black T, which is tuff stuff...the guide rod's coating is worn but still there after about 4 years of shooting. Heck, the only shiny parts are the stainless grip screws. ------- Edited to add pics and you can see the Black T is still holding up on to the guide rod and barrel quite well.

  8. Nope that's way off, #10 was a regular comedy.
  9. Planet of the Apes Cornelius: Well Taylor, we're all fugitives now. George Taylor: Do you have any weapons, any guns? Cornelius: The best, but we won't need them. George Taylor: I'm glad to hear it. I want one anyway.
  10. I can't believe that no one has #10 yet.
  11. Uncle Mike's #5036-1 single mag holder for double column mag. Use two singles, it's better than a double mag carrier. And if you cannot locate an Uncle Mike's try a Fobus #6909BH single belt holster carrier.
  12. The ruling and accepted pratice in the past has been that dealers and distributors had to have an orginally signed "hard copy" FFL to transfer any firearm. The BATF brought out ez-Check on the web that allows for the verification only of FFL numbers. Now with this leap in technology, it would appear, they are making ez-Check more useful. Combine the webpage verification with a **legible** faxed copy and a few days in the snail mail could be cut off the transfer process. However, the sender and receiver of the fax need to use the highest resolution on their respective machines so that the block of numbers on the FFL is readable. This may speed things up, but I doubt 100% of dealers would be willing to use this method for transfer, as the readability could prove a sticking point. Now for our more technologically advanced FFL holders, a scanner and desktop fax program would send a much cleaner copy.

  14. The plastic side saddles are extremely rigid and can make removing the shell quite difficult, especially on the move. The nylon versions have elasticity and flexibility, that should decrease the fumble factor. If Buchanan is slow to respond, and he will be, these folks stock the nylon side saddles. http://www.speedshooter.com/product_detail.cfm?ID=BBSS7 An Uncle Mikes buttstock shell holder is also a good option for keeping shotgun reloads close at hand. Check with your local Match Director on slings. Some guys may write their own or modify exsisting 3gun rules and may want you to sling your long guns. Our MD requires slings.
