  1. Are you shooting IPSC thats why you're using 126? If you are, I'm not even sure if the ICE mag well will fit the box. I use 126 STi tubes with a locally made basepad that looks like the SVi wedge on my stock Edge and it works great!
  2. My SVI (Competition, .40" caliber for Standard/Limited Division) was doing it with original springs and SVI competition (red) followers. Skywalker, I am also currently running your setup and so far I haven't had a problem (knock on wood). However after almost 2 years, I noticed the tension of the spring holding the SV red follower is getting loose. Before it takes a long time for me to put it on. However, right now its very easy. Also when I disassemble the mag for cleaning, usually the follower comes off just when I slide the springs out. It's making me a little paranoid. Someone suggested that I epoxy the spring to the follower. Is this advisable? Any advice on what I should do? Are you using SV springs? I'm using ISMI in my setup. Thanks in advance!
  3. I wish! Thanks guys, looks like I would just have to forget about shooting for a month....could be a good thing...at least for my wife
  4. My wife and I are planning to go on a 3 weeks vacation. Since I can't take my FA with me, what can I do to keep sharp? I dry fire everyday and shoot twice a week (clubshoots and level 1s mostly). Any ideas on what I can do to keep me sharp?
  5. Just wondering where these sights are made in?
  6. I don't want to hijack this thread but I'm in a similar dilemma. My gun is also showing some wear and I do want to protect it. However, I really like the look of a black gun as opposed to a shiny chromed one. What are my other choices? Would re-blueing be adviceable or is it just a waste of time any money? TIA
  7. Xre can you post a pic of the other side? And maybe from the top so that we can see your ports. Thanks in advance! Its such a nice blaster...nice lines!
  8. FWIW I shoot a factory Edge and so far so good. I've changed the stock aluminum magwell to a Stainless one because I like some weight on the grips to balance the gun out; besides a nice 2# trigger job, the gun is stock. I've shot maybe 10K rounds through it and I'm still very happy with it. For me, reliability is what I look for in an IPSC gun and the Edge has been very reliable. If you can get a custom built gun for abut $1,700 (or you have a lot of cash to spare) then I say go for it. Who wouldn't want a gun from Dan Bedell, Brazos and Dawson to name a few; they make the best in the market. However, if you are on a "budget", getting the Edge will leave you some cash for magazines, rig and ammo. Just send it for a trigger job and it should be ready. Just sharing my experience and my 2 cents worth, hope this helps Good Luck!
  9. You're supposed to buy more guns, not sell them You'll only feel regret after the guy drives away with your gun, so don't sell
  10. kinda old, have you guys seen these?
  11. BritinUSA, how's the Docter holding up? This thread is pretty old so it must have gone through a lot of rounds... any failures with the scope since then? I assume its a Bevenized scope. Thanks!!
  12. So where can I buy just the tubes? Thanks in advance!!
  13. Will the new Caspian mags be legal for IPSC Standard division?
  14. Why isn't this an option? I have ordered multiple boxes of once fired brass from the US without any problems. USPS has a new global priority flat-rate box, you can ship 20lbs of brass in those boxes for 37$, comes down to about 2000 cases. where can you find them online that will ship internationally?
  15. Would drinking coffee or those energy drinks (RedBull) help at all? I'm tempted to try it but I'm worried it might make me nervous or hyper Anybody try this?
  16. J1B, just yesterday I experienced the same thing... except I didn't whack my foot on anything and I didn't have a nice recovery in the end. I actually shot two different matches on one day. On stage one of the first match I had a no-shoot and a mike. Although I'm not a GM shooter, I can make top 20 easy on a field of more than 120 competitors and top 10 if I keep it together. After the first stage it was downhill from there. I even had an AD after I ran out of ammo (I didn't fill up my mags to capacity) and had to do a standing mag change. No, I wasn't DQd since the shot hit about 10 yards in front of us, downrange. In 2 years of shooting, I've never had an AD. I probably had a total of 2 NS and maybe 6 mikes for the match. I'm not fast but I like to keep it clean and error free so this is unusual for me. I went home and felt like cr@p. So I decided that maybe I was just having a bad morning and decided to enter another match in the afternoon. On my first stage I had one target (it was a classic target that had the half cut-off) completely clean! Not one hole in it. I was sure I called the shots...or did I? Again the mikes kept coming and the second match was not better than the first. I went home thinking maybe I'm getting old. Then after reading this thread.... this was exactly how I felt. It was as if I was just going through the motion, and then expecting myself to go to autopilot and still hit the targets. I can't recall my sight pictures, and it seems that I'm focusing more on the target than my sights. I didn't have the "arousal" level that Steve was describing. I felt disconnected, kinda like being half-asleep. But the big question is besides jumping jacks, what other techniques are there to help you be excited to shoot? Thanks for this post Steve, made me feel a lot better. Its like knowing there's a cure to a disease that I have.
  17. Wow! Thanks so much for help guys! Appreciate it!
  18. Hello guys, I'm in the middle of setting up an open gun(my first one) and I have decided to get some SV tubes. However, after reading the threads, it seems that most people go with the Grams spring and follower kit. I have the red SV followers with ISMI springs on my standard guns, and have been very satisfied with them. I'm thinking of using the blue/purple (I forgot which one is for 38S) SV followers with maybe ISMI or SV springs and Dawson pads. I'm hoping someone has had experience with them and can comment on them. Its kinda strange why not a lot of people here are using them. Is there anything wrong with the SV followers thats why theyre not very popular? Thanks in advance!!
  19. Would you have to cut down the barrel for this? Or do you keep the gun the same length and just shorten the slide that moves back? Sounds like a plan....do you have a pic?
  20. I have an STi classic slide and an STi Trubor with SX Comp that I got from Brazos. Would you know how much they weigh? I'm not an expert but I know getting the slide too light would lead it to open prematurely (I can't remember the term). Would you recommend that I use a unique slide instead of a classic? Thanks again guys!
  21. Don't you just love this forum!!! Wish I could buy all you guys a cold one, thanks so much for all the replies Venry thats a very nice looking gun....actually I love all 3 of them!!! hahaha!!! I think in order to pull this off, I may need a "Unique" slide. A classic slide will look awkward. Is it possible to add lightening cuts to the dust cover so that the weight will be at least closer to a short dust? Will this help? BrianH, is that an SV scope mount? Would you know who carries them? Looks really good and I bet I can save a lot of weight with it. Alamo, you're right, being my first open blaster, a heavier gun will make a great training gun. Hey, take a look at what they do down-under http://www.jppimports.com/customGuns/SVdetail.asp?svID=14 I believe they are using 7 inch frames for it too!! Anyways, thanks again for all the help. If you guys have more pics, please post them, they would be a great help!
  22. Hello guys. I've been shooting Standard Div for the past year and I've been intrigued with shooting an open gun. I was thinking of having my gunsmith build me an open gun on an STi frame with LD cover. Can this be done without compromising performance? Watching the DVD of the last World Shoot, there were a lot of Australians shooting open with really long frames. It actually looks really heavy....but if its good enough for them, maybe its good enough for a newb...or is it? Also can I use a unique slide with the wide frame? (I think it will look awkward) I've been slowly "hoarding" parts for this open gun and so already have a unique slide on hand. Anyways, any advice pros/cons will be greatly appreciated. This will be my first open gun and I was hoping to get it right the first time Thanks in advance!
  23. Taurus makes a pretty nice 1911....at least on paper that is http://www.taurususa.com/products/product-...category=Pistol Sounds like a deal? Does anyone have any experience with it?
  24. Thanks Sarge! I bought 10,000 heads as well which will probably take me a year or so to use up
  25. How many shots, more or less would it take to shoot out a barrel? Recently I've noticed my gun giving me a wider range of velocity on the chrono as well. I've shot maybe 10-12K rounds through it, I'm not sure if this is enough to wear it out. Its a stock STi Edge. I'm not sure if its the ammo or the gun though.
