  1. I had my first and only DQ so far last October at the very beginning of a match. First stage, loaded my shadow and went to decock it and BAM! I've learned since then a few better methods to decock it. Scared me to death and tore up my finger pretty bad. All that my buddies saw was blood all over and me getting in my car to leave. Thankfully the round went down range into the berm safely. It shook me up for a few months.
  2. Welcome to the forums! I have family down there. Lots of good shooting and great people!
  3. Bowling Green area is a nice place. Welcome!
  4. We have a ton of options here locally. Lots of indoor IDPA action on week nights at Point Blank Range, eagle, blackstone, Carolina Sporting Arms, etc. The fourth Saturday of the month is an outdoor IDPA shoot at Mecklenburg which is the best local IDPA match with usually 6 stages. Let us know how your two gun match goes.
  5. Oakleys are big here. I still use cheap 3m ones and am ready for a good set especially as my eyes are getting a little "tired".
  6. if anything idpa forces you to treat concealment as if it were cover. Probably not the best idea tactically, but I don't care. Yea hence the quotes around the term "cover". And really most live fire tactics scenarios do the same thing. using a VTAC barricade, barrel, or other range props teach the skill of shooting in and around cover. Its usually pretty hard to get "real" cover on a live range. I have only shot a few ranges in the last 18 years that have had much in the way of actual ballistic cover. probably kinda hard to get real cover in a typical residential or commercial building too. In order to prevent kitten deaths, IDPA should have procedurals for taking 'cover' behind a residential wall or door, or car door, lol. I agree. Haha
  7. This is hard for me as I am new but does get better each match. Confidence is coming up some what. Already had my first DQ out of the way in October which was good I guess. Planning is coming a little more second nature. Breaking it down as explained above has helped.
  8. Did you fit them yourself? I know I'm capable but don't think I have the time or patience.
  9. We have some good USPSA matches locally and I will end up going at some point. It's interesting hearing everyones opinions from both sides. I would like to see for myself.
  10. I have several Blade-tech OWB and all run really well
  11. I started with a Sig P320 and it is about the simplest platform I can think of. Lots of aftermarket mods and parts available for it and very reliable. Price is good too
  12. Are they that good? I keep hearing about them. Have you tried the one with the built in plastic magwell yet?
  13. Oh and mine has the Techwell magwell with grips....a little thicker than most grips which helps the mags go in easily. Not a Perman but still pretty good.
  14. I have a newly acquired PM9 and it is very nice. Amazing shooter. Right now I have put about 1,000 rounds through it (it was used when I got it) and have two IDPA matches in. Excellent quality and very good trigger. The CZ may be going up for sale. You won't go wrong with the PM9. I want a second one now!
  15. Quick update...the new style ETM cycle perfectly with the slide locking back every time. Also, loading a full mag with the slide locked back and in the forward position is not a problem at all. I like them a lot and with the warranty they have I may just run them and use the Dawson as range mags until I get them to run right or get the right load length for them. This is all with 147 factory loads so far
  16. Also, this is not the last or top bullet feeding.....what's happening is the bullets don't move up in the mag when I fire a round. This is happening randomly on the 4 mags in question. They will be stuck about 1/2" down. Once I drop the mag and tap it a few times it usually gets them moving up. This is making me think the issue is the bullets are too long?
  17. Where on the tube would I squeeze? A few of my Dawson mags have lips that are a little more open than others. Do I carefully squeeze at the top of the tube in that area?
  18. Ok. I will do that tomorrow as the match is Tuesday. Still have a few other questions about the pm9 but will start a new thread I guess and list all of them at once. Thank you everyone for being so helpful.
