  1. You made a great choice going with Precision Delta, awesome bullets and even better people. Just be patient and wait for them to come in. I filled a comp up on a 9 minor steel gun with less than 2k rounds of coated lead (always wiped it down with FP-10 prior to shooting and ended each session with 5 JHPs). I spent about 4 hours cleaning it all out and will never make that mistake again. I have three open major guns with 4-18k of PD JHPs through them and have never cleaned any of the comps.

  3. A few things like round count, maintenance practices and FCG quality come into play here. Tear the gun down completely and clean. After cleaning inspect the parts (sear face and hammer hooks). If both look square with no marring, re-assemble the bottom end minus the grip and thumb safeties. Cock the hammer and pull the trigger while looking at the engagement between the disconnector and sear and then sear and hammer. You should be able to determine where your “creep” is coming from. If the disconnector is sliding on the sear leg before moving the sear and dropping the hammer you need to add tension on the middle leg of your sear spring. If the sear face is moving on the hammer hooks at all without dropping the hammer, you will have to decide if you can live with the creep or not. Most factory STI trigger jobs have a small amount of creep. If you decide that you can’t live with it you have a couple of options. You can buy hammer and sear jigs and cut your factory parts (not recommended as they won’t last long) or purchase new hammer, sear and disconnector (I recommend EGW) and cut them before installing. The easiest and cheapest way to get an awesome trigger is to buy a tuned FCG from Brazos. You can call Bob and he’ll get you set up with a “drop in” trigger for about $180.
  4. I went with the 1490 to carry a primary and backup. You could swap the backup for an array of magazines.
  5. Chucked it up in a drill press and used a wood backer on the paper. Only removed 1.5 thou from the diameter and the machine is certainly incapable of making ammo with less than .0015 variation so I did not worry about concentricity. The ammo, guns and targets have seen no effects... just the press and the guy pulling the handle haha.
  6. After 40k rounds or so, the powder funnel on my 38SC 650 was sticking so badly that it was painful to load on. Last weekend I decided enough was enough and set out to fix it. I run all brass through a u-die and decided this was most likely the culprit. To verify I grabbed 20 pieces of sized brass, the powder funnel and the calipers. What I found was the ID of all brass was within .0005, all Starline, and the OD of the funnel was .002 larger than the ID of the brass. I reduced the flat sides of the funnel by .0015 then progressively polished with 220 to 2500 grit sand paper. After that I hit it with a buffing wheel on the bench grinder, cleaned and reinstalled. The press runs smoother than it did when new with absolutely no hitch from the powder funnel. Even when lowering the ram very, very slowly, there is zero tactile feedback when the case leaves the funnel. Wish I would’ve done it about 30k rounds ago when the problem first presented.
  7. Been shooting Precision Delta for two years now and can’t recommend them enough.
  8. Anytime. The gun pictured is actually my girlfriend’s. Her hands are quite small and she has no trouble with the go gun or the Brazos as long as it’s installed as shown in the shortest configuration.
  9. Here you go. In the photo the Brazos is installed on the gun in the shortest configuration. The go gun is lined up as If it were installed in the same configuration. As you can see the location and angle of the thumb pad is exactly the same. The only difference is the profile of the part in front of and behind the pad.
  10. STI uses a 10lb recoil spring and 15lb main spring with 2 coils cut in all of their open guns. 8lb recoil and 17lb main in a full size 38SC open gun is far superior.
  11. The Brazos is no different that the go gun as far as thumb placement. I have both and will try to get you some pictures tonight.
  12. When I first started shooting open I loaded 38SC with 9mm dies. Sized all brass on a single stage and then used an old SDB I had to load. Just had to ditch the sizer and back out the powder, seat and crimp dies to SC length. No issues at all.
  13. I’d have an evo on all of my guns if I could afford it.
  14. DAA racers are awesome for production especially if you like bullets out. The new alpha x pouches are fantastic but they’re too pricey for me to buy 5 for a production rig.
  15. My results are quite similar. Love my Alpha X
  16. That's a great idea on the powder measure. What exactly did you use?
  17. Yes, I got the JHPs. Good to know... That's what I'm hoping to avoid as much as possible.
  18. Thanks Steven. I just placed an order for some bullets, went with 124gr .355s as this seems to be most popular. What is your take on 115 vs 124? I'm looking for the easiest/most pleasant shooting option for Candace if it helps...
  19. I was referring to super comp. Will be loading somewhere around 170pf for USPSA open division. Sorry for the confusion.
  20. Just picked up a Trubor in 38 Super, plan to shoot SC. I have done quite a bit of reading about the various open gun powders and found a great deal locally on an 8lb jug of Accurate #7. I plan to use 124gr PD JHPs. Anyone out there have charge weight and OAL recommendations specifically for a Trubor and these components? Thanks in advance.
  21. What's your reasoning behind this? I'm curious because I have found a local place where I can buy 3n37 for $105/4lb jug.
  22. No popper holes. Any particular reason why you chose 37 over 38?
  23. Thanks for the info. I'm pretty much set on PD 124gr JHPs so that's spot on!
