  1. I picked up a used PC 14.45 and mine already has the Guncraft trigger. Someone has also done a nice job on the trigger as well as it breaks clean at 3.5 pounds and no over travel with little to no take up even still has the series 80 parts. I figured mine must be older but I see it's about 1000 pistols after yours judging by the serial numbers. So far I have seen no feed issues but have not shot it much. Wasn't feeling to good this last weekend so I didn't get any range time with it.
  2. No one has mentioned the most obvious.Every lot of powder varies from lot to lot.
  3. Talk to Mec Gar, supposedly their mag tubes are the longer ones. You will have to replace the bases.
  4. Same with the 14.45 I just picked up. I found a couple of used ones from a Black Ops that appear to be the longer tubes. Waiting on them to come in. Dawson pads will work on the longer tubes. Not sure about Arrendondo's though. I am looking for another para mag myself. Supposedly Para is going to make another run of mags, they just could not tell me when.

So far I have not noticed a huge difference in my LW 40-9 to my LW 40 and my stock 40 barrel. I am just starting to wring the LW barrels out and develop loads though.
  6. It's been a decade or so since I went to a Gun Show so I decided to go wander around one of the big ones we have around here. I needed some small bits and accessories, mainly a Glock Disassembly tool to keep in my range bag. Small Pistol Primers have also been unobtainable lately. I got to the show and quickly ascertained that If I parked a mile away I could save a bundle and only pay 20 bucks for parking. Seems all those spots were full and I had to park further out.I excitedly rushed up to the ticket counter after my 2 mile trek from the parking lot and paid my 10 bucks to get in the door. As soon as I walked in I started to remember why it had been so long. The Mall Ninjas were out in force in their tactical operator clothing and their AR's tactically slung by their sides. It's been many years since I last attended a Ninja re-certification course. But the Ninjas would do their best to throw them selves across the isle and in front of you so you did not see the really ridiculously high prices. I wandered down the isles and low and behold I found the reason for the 22 ammo shortage nationwide. There was a seller with three tables in a row piled chest high with nothing but 22 ammo. The smallest box of 100 was at a rock bottom low price of 38.95. Sheish I remember buying a box of 100 for .39 cents when I was a kid. Didn't like it when it went to 50 cents either. About half way through I got pretty uneasy when I saw a guy with a vaguely Muslim like beard, But then I felt better when I saw a special squad of stealth Ninjas tracking him. They had quickly donned new sports jerseys that were three sizes to big so they blended in with the thugs. The disguise worked pretty well and I could hear them remarking about how sweet this or that was. I knew the real reason they were there was to keep an eye on the stranger. I kept walking and nearing the end I saw the Ninja Quartermaster. He was easy to spot with the full pack in front and in back on load his bearing gear. He was prepared to stay for the entire weekend no doubt. Such dedication. On the last isle I saw it! Something so threatening it triggered me to transition to condition red, but a purple haze transitioned before my eyes and I went on fully automatic reactions. The last thing I remembered was the woefully out of date Ninja re certification date on the card in my wallet flashing before my eyes. Luckily when I came to at the car I went to the body cam footage to review what had transpired. It seems I spotted the threat, and being woefully unprepared I quickly looked around for a squad of ninjas to assist me. Since none were around I started throwing my elbows and body weight around to neutralize the threat. Luckily I have a lot of body weight to throw around. I finally made it up to the table and got my hands on the only box of Small Pistol Primers available at the show. I quickly paid for the box and exited the area. Once away I realized I could be mugged on the way to the car with my treasure. I quickly looked for a squad of Ninjas to enlist but they were all investigating the commotion I had just caused. Oh the horror, I would have to make it to the car unassisted. Once in the car and back to my senses I pulled out the receipt and saw the most reasonable price of $38.50. Luckily I did not throw myself on that plate of 5 Nacho's for 10 bucks. After the 20 dollar parking and the 10 buck entry fee that box of primers cost me $68.50. I think I'll go back to ordering from Bass Pro and having it shipped to the store.

Don't know about the best but I have a Lone Wolf 40-9 that works well.
  8. Don't get to complacent, typical garage doors are not to difficult to breech.
  9. Depends on how much security you want. Lagging it into the concrete is good but direct contact will put the metal in direct contact with moisture in the slab which will promote rust underneath it.
  10. Keep it up off the concrete to minimize moisture under it and rust. Tractor supply sells rubber floor pads that might be a good choice to bolt through. Definitely do something to control moisture inside.
  11. I am just starting to shoot again competitively but I ran into a similar situation in some street survival courses a while back. The course was long (~100 yards) and several stages of mixed plates and scored targets, pistol and shotgun. You literally had a reloader running behind you with a box of ammo loading your dropped mags and passing them to you between stages as you ran. The whole course was designed to physically exhaust you by the end and it did. They had a stage in the middle where you shot some paper then a set of large poppers. I was shooting a 10mm so no problem on the power side. I also knew I was probably striking a bit low. I swept across the poppers and heard each round hit. I was up and running/reloading to the next stage before they hit the ground. Spooked the ref since he did not know whether to keep up with me or wait to see them fall. Awareness especially of the strikes will help. I ended up finishing on top with several seconds and about 12 points above the group. The next best shooter on the course was my female partner whom I had spent a lot of training time with on the range. Didn't hurt that I was qualified as a Distinguished Master with the Dept for 16 years.
  12. I tried the Wolf increased trigger spring and had poor reset. Using a reduced safety plunger spring helped. I eventually went back to the stock trigger spring since the reset feel was poor. Supposedly the increased trigger spring and reduced striker spring is a bad combo leading to reset issues..
  13. I have a older 40 with signs of wear. I was thinking the locking block would get it back up to spec.
  14. I thought about trying one and ordered one since mine is fairly high mileage. Quality made part, can't say anything about the fit results though. Mine apparently was a pre mid 2002 model 22 and did not have the same locking block.
  15. On the 8 pounders cut out the spout and leave the handle and use them for wad or shell hoppers for my shotgun loader.
  16. Not worth hacking togeather some home made rig when they sell the adjustable charge disk for not much. http://leeprecision.com/adj-charge-bar.html
  17. Trying different things to see how my trigger feels. Running a minus connector and tried a Wolf extra power trigger spring. I was not enthused about the way the reset felt. Tried a lightened safety spring and smoothed the safety button. Was better but didn't quite suit my fancy. Went back to the stock trigger spring and tried a Wolf 5 pound striker spring and that feels much better but still over ~4.5 pounds. I haven't been to the range with it yet but how light can I go on the striker spring with a stock striker before I see light strikes? I'll probably order a lightened striker but until then I wanted to mess with the spring rates. I tossed some marine cups in a order that should arrive tonight will they make a difference in feel?
  18. Probably not, the manuals can't test for every possible combination. Use the published data and either accept the differences or chrono yourself. Depending on your use the published data will probably be close enough.
  19. I went ahead and ordered the TTI this morning. The dot at the top of the front sight intrigued me.
  20. How's the POI versus POA on them?
  21. These look pretty interesting. Anyone use the Taran Tatical Fiber optic? http://tarantacticalinnovations.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=44_51&products_id=127
  22. Looked at some over on Midway, are the Keensight adjustables any good?

    Glock Sights

My gen 3 model 22 is shooting a bit higher than I like. I picked it up used and it has Tru Dot tritium sights on it. The nice thing is my LW 40-9 and stock 40 barrel have the same point of aim. I am hoping the LW 40 barrel I ordered will be similar. I need a decent set of sights but don't want to invest a lot since I may be converting to optics before to long. I want to use them mostly for Steel Challenge and maybe some IPDA later. What are some I should be looking at?
  24. Newb from Texas, New to the forum but not to shooting or Glocks. Carried a G2 model 20 for years professionally back in the 90's and later. Shot a lot competitively back in the late 80's and 90's and kinda getting back into it. Waiting on my Para Pro Custom to arrive back from Para. While that's out I picked up a 22 to play with and seems like a local Steel Challenge match is coming up this summer. I think I am heading to create a open class gun eventually. I picked up a LW threaded 40-9 barrel from a local shop and have a ferw more parts coming. I think I am going to like shooting a minor 9 class gun as a change from the heavier recoiling guns I am used to.
